Do people really cry/laugh out loud, over threads?

I find some threads shocking, very sad, amusing and even really funny, but I don't do any of the above.

AIBU for not reacting as extremely as some people appear to do?
AIBU in thinking people exagerate when saying these things?

I laughed out loud at the threesome thread earlier when it descended into Chuckle brother orgy territory. I feel most at home here when things get silly.

I'm a soppy sod but unlikely to cry at a thread as I'm quite a 'visual' person and more likely to cry at pictures than words, but I am genuinely moved by many threads.
