to think that you can't block someone's driveway?

Apologies, it's a parking one!

Just about to go to bed & looked out the front window to see a car parked completely across the dropped curb of our driveway blocking our car in. Not sure when it was parked there, must have been in the last 2 hours. Don't recognise the car, and it's a bit late to go knocking to see if the neighbours do!

DH leaves for work at 5:30am & is worried that if the car will still be there. We had this happen once before, but it was a much smaller car & luckily he managed to manoeuvre through the small gap that was left, but there would be no chance this time.

Would it be unreasonable to report it?

A very satisfying thread. So often there is a cry of 'get it towed'. It's good to hear it can actually happen.

Great result OP! What a prize dick.

ProudAS · 22/10/2014 21:31

I seem to remember the legality of blocking driveways being debated on a recent thread.

This link doesn't explicitly say that it's illegal but suggests that blocking access to highway is.

Ooh I hadn't considered the affair angle, that would make it more interesting! Haven't seen the neighbour at all today, lying low perhaps. DH was annoyed he missed everything. He also wasn't happy with random mans attitude, doubt he'd have sounded to aggressive if DH had been here.

Interestingly enough DH reminded me that when the smaller car blocked him in earlier in the year, he thought it was that neighbours mother, as he's sure he's seen the car around since when she's visited. If so, he left a note that time about how early he leaves for work, so that makes it even stranger.

Minty - I remember that one!

LurkingHusband

The rules in bold red type in the Highway Code are actual laws, the rest are "Don't Be an Inconsiderate Pillock" advisory...

Redglitter · 22/10/2014 23:49

if the police arrange the tow away the Police National Computer is updated with where it was towed from who by and where it is now. Then when the indignant driver reports it stolen the PNC is checked and they're told the 'good news'

We actually fight over these calls. There's a perverse pleasure in telling them they've been towed for being an arse

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 23/10/2014 01:53

Thanks, Minty.

Mrsdavidcaruso · 23/10/2014 03:52

ArsenicChaseScream · 23/10/2014 03:54

DH is going to think I am v wierd next time we go to IOW wanting to tour streets looking for penguin bollards. Should have a MN book of MN landmarks.

Glad you got the car moved. How satisfying.

Suefla62 · 23/10/2014 05:08

@mrsdavidcaruso. Nice to see you back, I hope you and your family are well.

Pipbin · 23/10/2014 07:15

I second what Sue said. Good to see you back.

SunnaStrangeInTheNeighbourhood · 23/10/2014 07:18

Nobody google penguin bollards. The bastards will haunt you forever.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/10/2014 07:28

The penguin bollards don't bother me- the ones that look like children however.... (Yes, I know that's the point of them).

The bollard children outside the school near Legoland always freak me out.

QueenofLouisiana · 23/10/2014 07:28

BTW, good outcome OP!

Mrsdavidcaruso · 23/10/2014 12:32

Thank you Sue family are very well with 2 new female additions baby Hazel Rose born 14th August and an utterly adorable Pug puppy called Dairy-Mae both are cute with kissable tummies

OddFodd · 27/10/2014 21:53

Congratulations Mrsdc! Penguins still doing the job?

(I'm not typing penguin b**ds because then the freaky children will stalk me again)

kali110 · 28/10/2014 15:24

Just googled they have a mona lisa one! Sorry never heard of these before, how do they work? I mean if you put these on your drive how do you get your own car on and off the drive?
