to think that you can't block someone's driveway?

Apologies, it's a parking one!

Just about to go to bed & looked out the front window to see a car parked completely across the dropped curb of our driveway blocking our car in. Not sure when it was parked there, must have been in the last 2 hours. Don't recognise the car, and it's a bit late to go knocking to see if the neighbours do!

DH leaves for work at 5:30am & is worried that if the car will still be there. We had this happen once before, but it was a much smaller car & luckily he managed to manoeuvre through the small gap that was left, but there would be no chance this time.

Would it be unreasonable to report it?

Ooh I love a good parking thread. I secretly hope the Police had to locate the offender in the middle of the night.

diddl · 22/10/2014 09:03

While Op is school running, can I be naughty & ask a related question?

If you have a garage, I presume people should never park across your drive as they don't know whether or not there's a car in there & a driver will wanting access onto the road?

londonrach · 22/10/2014 09:05

Anyone want xmas chocolate whilst they wait for the longest school run ever. Op had better not stop to talk to anyone or shopping on way back....

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 22/10/2014 09:06

Yes. Never park across a drive with a garage.

It's pretty poor manners to park over a drive any time. The owner will come back and want to park in it.

My neighbour parks over his own drive and blocks his own car in. What are the rules there?

Mouthfulofquiz · 22/10/2014 09:06

Diddl - exactly right.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 22/10/2014 09:07

Diddl - no they shouldn't. It's very rude, not sure if it's illegal though.

OP come back. I love a good parking thread and am sitting here with my tea ready to hear the story.

whatithink · 22/10/2014 09:08

I was thinking exactly what diddl posted. If you have a garage, even if there is no car on the drive I assume it is still illegal to park across it?

Sprink · 22/10/2014 09:09

Londonrach, surely OP is telling all the other mums about the parking drama and we will just get sloppy seconds. Despite our vigilance.
