Hmm. Looking on Amazon it looks as though the single's status has been changed to "can only buy as part of album". The "album", meanwhile, consists of only the one track and is priced the same as the single used to be. So they are still selling it, but not as a single so further purchases won't count towards the singles chart. That's at least an improvement, I guess.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think so - otherwise lots of tracks on wildly popular albums would chart at once, whereas in practice several individual tracks are released as singles one after another.

So I think that as they are no longer selling it as a single none of the album sales count towards the singles chart.

Just checked the amazon bestsellers list, it was at number 1 when I checked a couple of days ago. It's now at number 4 so going the right way!

Any further news from those with modern access methods to the hit parade?
