And keep Mike Read off the top of the charts this weekend?

I've seen tweets directly to Holly Johnson, already.

Just popping out to look at some illuminated comet trail debris, as you do, then I'll be right back.

ArsenicChaseScream · 22/10/2014 00:07

As you do.

Too early for the starry starry night, it would seem.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 22/10/2014 00:19

Our primary leaving disco had Gary glitter and do you wanna be in my gang?

Er no actually.

Sing if your glad to be gay think Tom Watson band?

Brilliant thread.

EatTheRude · 22/10/2014 00:19

I have Holly Johnsons autograph. Does that count for anything?

Have bought and tweeted

LineRunner · 22/10/2014 00:22

We had Alvin Stardust and My Coocachoo. A 40 year old man with black leather gloves and unfeasibly darkly hirsute sideburns singing to a bunch of kids about some kind of sexual yearning.

Nice.

ArsenicChaseScream · 22/10/2014 00:23

Heard that the other night for the first time in years Smile

Hmm

Quite a lot of the 70s were problematic really...

....sing if you're happy that way
Hey Smile

LineRunner · 22/10/2014 00:26

Tom Watson was bizarrely considered more controversial than Alvin Stardust.

ArsenicChaseScream · 22/10/2014 00:28

That tells you a lot about the 70s.

TOTP2 has taken on a different slant in the last few years Sad

Good call! Saw it on the Daily Mail website earlier that that 'other' version was doing well. Made me feel uncomfortable.
Just downloaded the original Frankie song on the back of this thread.
Got over 3,000 Twitter followers which has big interaction on my main Twitter account.
My other one has over 1,000 followers. Will share the word on both!

ArsenicChaseScream · 22/10/2014 00:30

A Twitter Amazonian! Yay. Smile

ScreamEggsAndHam · 22/10/2014 00:33

For those who don't know, Mike Read was key in getting 'Relax' banned in the 80s
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relax_%28song%29#Release_and_controversy

I didn't know that if true.I know Relax was banned on the radio for a while due to the 'risque' lyrics but didn't know he had a part in banning it if true.
If it was, then Jaysus, hypocrisy.

Thumbwitch · 22/10/2014 00:36

Shared on FB - I can't do Twitter, I don't understand it still!

LineRunner · 22/10/2014 00:38

Yes, he had to play it on his show as it was on the official playlist for Radio 1, but he took offence at the lyrics and lifted the needle off the record half way through and banned it from his show ... and the rest, as they say, was hysteria.

ScreamEggsAndHam · 22/10/2014 00:46

I'm sure if we all thwart HIS attempts at his record being played he'll adopt the same stance. Hmm
lol

ScreamEggsAndHam · 22/10/2014 00:47

Ooo we have a big twitter cheese

Hope that's not aimed at me I'm just me lol Smile

ArsenicChaseScream · 22/10/2014 00:57

Scream I've been struggling to see my own blardy tweets all evening. A competent twitterer with a decent list of followers is heaven Smile

I think he should ban his own bloody song from the radio on the grounds of it being offensive.

OMG I just thought, are radio stations going to be playing this..?

Morning all,
Saw it on the Daily Mail website earlier that that 'other' version was doing well Sad
