To think Amal Clooney could teach Victoria Beckham how to handle the paparazzi?

If you've chosen a path that means you're going to be continually photographed you might as well embrace it like Amal rather than pretending you find it a drag like Victoria does

OP posts:
LittleBairn · 14/10/2014 08:11

It is pretty easy for Amal to embrace it when she's only had to deal with it for 5 minutes in comparison to Victoria's 15 years and often in the company of her children when they decend on her.

cricketpitch · 14/10/2014 08:20

Exactly LittleBairn. A few photos when you are looking glam and expecting them is not the same thing as constant snapping whenever and wherever you are. And Victoria is fine - she is looking where she is going with her son.

WorraLiberty · 14/10/2014 08:25

I've looked at both links expecting something interesting and I just don't get the point you're making OP Confused

Did you missed the bit where it says VB and Cruz smiled and waved as they left the store?

They can't help which photos get chosen to publish, can they?

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 14/10/2014 08:27

Bloody daily mail. You should warn people.

antimatter · 14/10/2014 08:32

OP but VB built her career by using press for her advantage.
Do you think Hallo articles over the years and first page appearances came from paparazzis chasing her?

She knows who to employ to help her and maybe her PR team let her down on this occasion.

TeamScotland · 14/10/2014 09:48

The pair of them are going about their business. I'm neutral about them both and can't see an issue with what either of them are doing. I also can't for a minute imagine Vic wants to learn anything from Amal, unless she's considering taking up Human Rights Law.

SaucyJack · 14/10/2014 10:05

Victoria's built a highly successful media career off the back of that pout. I doubt she's crying all the way to the bank.

Onedropoflove · 14/10/2014 10:09

I don't know why but I'm quite surprised Amals changed her name.

TheLovelyBoots · 14/10/2014 10:09

Amal needs to stop the coquettish hair flipping when she's photographed, I think it's rather beneath a barrister. Other than that she seems extremely photo-ready.

Noctambulist · 14/10/2014 10:11

I'd be surprised if Amal remains quite so chipper after a few years of relentless intrusion.

The Mail will be slipping the knife in soon enough, don't worry.

maninawomansworld · 14/10/2014 10:50

Hmm... no sympathy I'm afraid.
If you choose to go into showbiz then you know what to expect.
I bet showbiz is great, glamourous parties, heaps of cash, adoring fans and all the rest of it but there will be downsides - one of the most obvious of which is paparazzi / press intrusion. It just comes with the territory I'm afraid.

Suck it up Victoria - or go and get a job in an office somewhere on £20k a year. Your choice.

CateBlanket · 14/10/2014 12:01

In the early days VB craved fame and attention; I think she and David were the first couple to get £1million for selling their wedding to Hello.

Now she's papped wherever she goes I think she should respond with a beaming smile rather than always looking so glum.

And I think Amal should be charged with treason for advising the Greek government on how to take the Elgin Marbles off us!

OP posts:
queenceleste · 14/10/2014 12:12

I feel uneasy about the hugely smiley Amal wielding a very unsmiley agenda.

I mean it's brilliant of her but disingenuous IMO. She has gone in on a very loaded controversy & it shows massive cahoonas for someone playing so very very girlish.

Not that the Elgin marbles aren't a serious point of contention, they do matter for Greek pride and national identity. But AC's new found Hollywood glamour power is a very loaded gun and I think she is in danger of looking like she's waving it around like the girlfriend in the cowboy film who is firing off madly while laughing hysterically.

I hope she knows what she is doing of course, and she is much more clever than me, but I think the power of this kind of fame is hard to manage particularly as a Muslim woman in this extremely febrile Muslim/Western atmosphere. I wish her well but I wish she looked a bit more serious too.

Just my opinion!

queenceleste · 14/10/2014 12:15

And re VB, who cares? She's a fashion doll minting it with her fashion house managed in her image by Simon Genius Fuller. Nuff said.

BUT I personally boaked at her proto Angelina UN women deserve health speech with the I'm serious hair/suit/hand gestures like Clare Danes looking all serious.

Angelina can pull it off but not VB, VB looks like she's trying on Humantarian Work like a new pair of Gregorian Astral Wedges in Sienna Suede.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 14/10/2014 12:21

Victoria Beckham has worked her arse off to get into the spice girls who then all Collectivly worked their arses off to get as successful as they were.

When vb got engaged to Becks she was far richer and more successful than he was.

I think she's fine and I have a friend of a friend who says she's a really nice woman.

She's a Britush success story as is David and they seem great parents so good on them.

Couldn't give a flying fuck about George clooney or his wife.

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 14/10/2014 12:22

Oh God Angelina is beyond tedious as is Brad.

queenceleste · 14/10/2014 12:27

Sure VB has worked hard and, I think, cleverly hung on to Simon Fuller who she totally trusts as does DB and I think they have been an amazing team with an almost Midas touch. You can't knock their joint abilities but I think Fuller is the real genius. She's clever enough to know it and clever and determined enough to pursue her interests.

BUT they sudden attack of Humanitarian Commitment stinks to me, it is too showy like buying a new pony, painting it gold and prancing about on it saying "I am an Equestrian now!" you can't just put it on like a bangle.

Angelina, is irritating, I will you that, and Brad makes me barf, never fancied him.

But Angelina has done her homework and been consistently involved over many years and has used her considerable clout in important areas. Like her or not, I think she deserves some kudos for being a humanitarian. VB should have started off lower key not making a speech all bad acting and flat hand gentures

Thebodyloveschocolateandwine · 14/10/2014 13:26

Yes that's fair comment and of course Angelina is an actress and vb most definatly is not.

I honestly think she has fairly low self esteem too whereas Angela exudes confidence and poise.

Totally agree with the Fuller comments too.

SaucyJack · 14/10/2014 13:48

Why should VB respond with a beaming smile when someone points a camera at her? Would you be saying that if she was a man?

MrsMarcJacobs · 14/10/2014 13:52

And guess which one wants the attention more?

CateBlanket · 14/10/2014 13:58

Saucy - Confused yes! I would.

OP posts:
Onedropoflove · 14/10/2014 14:14

I couldn't guess which one wants the attention more. Amal is no shrinking violet she shimmied about all over Venice in our fancy frocks like the limelight was made for her

TSSDNCOP · 14/10/2014 14:20

I only glanced at the pics and thought "fuck me! George looks rough", then realised the old, bent over guy was George Roberston.

TSSDNCOP · 14/10/2014 14:25

TBF in the first shot VB and Romeo are trying to get on the pavement. She looks much more chilled on leaving the shop.

Her ice bucket challenge is funny.

Worksallhours · 14/10/2014 14:52

VB does know how to handle the paps and press. She has managed a good 15 years with only one major scandal (the nanny affair), no leaked private photos, and no awkward pap shots. She has also never been the victim of a huge media demolition.

That is pretty good going, considering.

By contrast, I suspect AC will not last a few years. She is playing the situation really badly and, already, the knives are sharpening -- some of the influential gossip sites are already being very nasty about her.
