I already know I'm being really unreasonable but I just fancied a whinge.

It's Friday night and I have a headache. Mother of Incredibly Advanced Child has just sent all the other mums in the group a video of IAC doing something the average child would only just be able to manage in another six months or so. This is a regular occurrence.

I know she's proud, we're all proud. I'm proud of my son's 'dancing.' I just wish she'd tell us about something IAC is rubbish at, just for a change.

Just to say, I'm not comparing my PFB to hers, he's way cuter Wink

Oh they're beautiful little ones :). I think this thread particularly struck a chord with me because I have a close family member with LD, it annoys me (probably irrationally) when people stealth boast about their children meeting milestones "early" when milestones are all about the individual. Like you said Aero comparisons aren't useful when the journey is different, I find getting caught up in the comparisons makes us miss the important bits. My 'friend' takes great delight in saying "well DD can do wasn't BabyBlink a lot older? Yes, I remember he was because it was when happened which would have made him .". It boils my blood, because it doesn't matter. She tagged me in a photograph of her DD in a jumperoo at a very young age deliberately not being specific with the title "think I might be the youngest to do this". Infuriating. I told her my 24 year old sister had just learned to tell the time, she didn't know where to put herself. It's sad because she couldn't comprehend where the positives were in my statement.

Thanks for that post CallMeExhausted. A nice reminder that we're not in some kind of race and its very exciting to see all of our children learning (in my case DD1 sometimes being kind to her little brother). And well done to your daughter on not eating the pebble.

She can do it her hearts desire in front of the GPs and be done with it.

I was just wondering why on earth Drs would be interested in this, but then the penny dropped.Blush

Thanks very much blink Smile Children are not robots, they are all individuals, some might be weaker at some things, some stronger. Every child is special.
