Can't warm to this one at all :-(

I loved MS from his very first scene in the TARDIS after he regenerated-and I loved Tennant. It's taking me a while to get used to PC but then people hated MS, when he was THE doctor in our house so I suppose it's horses for courses. I'll still keep watching. Its a country mile better than X Factor, whatever rubbish they serve up.

WhereYouLeftIt · 06/10/2014 16:19

"I can't say I love Clara. I don't know why she keeps getting pissed off with the doctor. They don't seem to have much of a bond, when the doctor gets all protective or proud it seems a bit forced."

I thought that was because she's missing Matt Smith's Doctor too! She travelled with MS, then he regenerated into PC and Clara has never really got over that. (compares to Rose in the first Christmas episode when DT sword-fighting with the Sycorax, Rose shouts 'Doctor!' as she throws him a sword, he looks at her and pointedly says 'So I'm still The Doctor, then?').

PC can be protective or proud because his memories of her are continuous with MS's memories.

PC is also just more upfront about not understanding humans that MS or DT. They had their moments, but the companion-du-jour would usually just gently explain to them what they were missing and MS would look embarrassed/DT would try and blag he knew that really. In a way, it just sort of underlines that he doesn't have that relationship with a companion up and running yet (and that he is a lot grumpier than MS/DT).

TBH, I miss every doctor.

YANBU to miss Matt Smith, but I'm sorry you aren't warming to Capaldi.

I love Capaldi's Doctor. but 12 is such a different Doctor to 11 that it's reasonable to love one and still miss the other.

Some of the writing on this one, however, has been terrible. I did like the latest ep, though.

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 17:10

Yabu I really like P C he is a grumpy sod it took me a whole series to get used to Matt smith give Peter a chance

deakymom · 12/10/2014 08:27

he just hates the human race why does he even bother they are just disposable insects to him

i'm trying to give him a chance but the only episode i've liked is the bank one thats it!

i liked matt smith but i like the fact that the doctor changes so i was sort of looking forward to a change (although i wish matt smith had done a few more episodes) im disappointed its crap

my fav is still eccleston

VashtaNerada · 12/10/2014 08:32

Capaldi is amazing! And totally in keeping with the show, reminds me of several of the earlier Doctors. And Clara is actually interesting now and not just the pretty sidekick. Not so convinced by her boyfriend but perhaps he will surprise us all...

Purpleflamingos · 12/10/2014 08:35

Op- me too.
It's still better than x-factor though.

gordyslovesheep · 12/10/2014 08:51

he doesn't hate the human race - he's just letting them grow up a bit

I'm really enjoying him

deakymom · 12/10/2014 08:53

letting them grow up a bit? he has a fucking time machine just go to the future and stop being such a moody fucker

LiegeAndLief · 12/10/2014 08:55

I feel sorry for Peter capaldi. He's doing a brilliant job to get anything at all out of the unutterably dire scripts he's been landed with. My god, that one about the moon, the story was just awful. I'm still watching but haven't actually enjoyed one yet.

All the special effects in the world can't make up for a good story or clever idea. The Blink episode will stay with me forever.

deakymom · 12/10/2014 09:07

he would do better with a decent scriptwriter he is a good actor it's a shame really the last two doctors have had one huge problem the scripts they jump around they have been written by someone with a multiple personality and they keep changing personalities mid script now we have a depressed multiple personality writer working for them there really is no hope Grin

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/10/2014 12:13

The scripts have been just awful. Last night's was just a variation of The Caretaker-something inexplicably malevolent has just appeared, inexpicably.

It's the same premise as the monster in the Matt Smith Vincent episode, which was outstanding and as well as the pathos of the Vincent element managed a full backstory of the monster.

BoneyBackJefferson · 12/10/2014 12:13

I was hoping that Clara wouldn't be in last nights episode (given the bust up) and that PC would be given a good run without the usual whining.

PhaedraIsMyName · 12/10/2014 12:16

And no Clara is not interesting.

All that flouncing around about never wanting to see him again/ having a wobble. If one were a nasty misogynistic man there's a very nasty expression one could use to describe Clara.

Wowthishurtsalot · 12/10/2014 12:33

YABVVVVU Capaldi is the best modern era doctor. It's the storylines that are lacking

jamdonut · 12/10/2014 12:46

I liked Ecclestone, I loved Tennant, and thought Smith was amazing BUT Capaldi is now my favourite Doctor of all time (Tom Baker was MY Doctor). He is completely awesome...and I feel like he's been there forever.

I think this entire new series has been the best ever, too. The stories have a "classic episodes" feel to them while being slickly produced for our modern tastes.

I just love it and look forward to each episode!!!

effinandjeffin · 12/10/2014 13:32

Capaldi is ace as the doctor and the scripts are a thousand times better than when Matt Smith was in it although The Eleventh Hour is still one of my faves. It went downhill for MS when they brought River Song (aka as the Mary Sue of Mary Sues) back.

The only episode I didn't really like was last weeks ( the Caretaker?). I wasn't really comfortable with the pro life message, but I may have just been reading too much into it.

iamdivergent · 12/10/2014 14:17

I like him but he's not very kid friendly. my 10 and 6 yr olds are terrified of him Confused

jamdonut · 12/10/2014 17:35

I think that is as it should be, Iamdivergent ! Tardis

ocelot41 · 12/10/2014 18:45

I love Capaldi as a general rule but haven't warmed to him as a Doctor yet. I think I like warmer, more lovable Doctors... Tennant ( although I hated the Rose Tyler storyline), Matt Smith and even Eccleston. But I would also want to tell this Doctor to go fuck himself.

naty1 · 12/10/2014 19:31

Hate PC as miss MS
