AIBU to ask your thoughts on what to give for the christening of a godchild? Especially on an unreasonable modest budget. I'm very creative so AIBU to make something or do parents expect the usual silver bracelets etc?

Sorry, posted too soon!

I love your present though OP - it's a truly unique gift and I'm sure it will be treasured!

Just checked out the hobbycraft site and they are quite inexpensive, you've inspired me to try something similar but I don't think I could ever paint animals as lovely as the ones you have.

You could always do simpler coloured animals? That could still look really nice or even use transfers or stickers? I painted it all with acrylic which is quite adaptable for drawing or sticking over so you could draw with pencil then overdraw with permanent marker once you are happy with outlines maybe?

That is really sweet, you did a great job! It will be passed down to her own kids one day I hope. The gold leaf was a good touch.

Love it op. Well done. Your god daughter a very lucky little girl

What a lovely gift. So much better than pointless waste of money tat that pass as christening gifts or pointless ones like naming a star.
