(Lighthearted) AIBU to think Amal Alamuddin's sense of style is a bit...Interesting?

Of course this is silly and I'm sure she likes the way she looks which is all that matters. I just feel compelled to ask if I'm the only person who isn't a fan of her outfits? I don't even know why I notice or care but everytime I see a picture I have the same thought. It's irrationally bugging me.

I love that white dress with the flowers shes wearing on the Amore - not what I would choose to be bobbing around on a boat though!

Whichusername · 28/09/2014 17:45

YABU. Would you be interested if she wasn't married to George Clooney? Do you fancy GC? ??

TidyDancer · 28/09/2014 17:51

She strikes me as being very 80s with her style. Nothing wrong with that, might I add, just that's the impression I get.

LadyLuck10 · 28/09/2014 17:53

I think she's quite refreshing compared to all the plastic women out there. Intelligent, independent and gorgeous, I think GC is the lucky one.

mamapain · 28/09/2014 17:55

In the past I've seen her looking very chic but yes the red dress from yesterday and now the white dress are all a bit 80s.

The white dress is beautiful but I think it could have been a touch longer.

LineRunner · 28/09/2014 17:57

I doubt she's concerned, somehow.

Cariad007 · 28/09/2014 18:09

I thought the black and white striped dress was gorgeous. She looked impossibly glam in it.

Rainbunny · 28/09/2014 18:10

For goodness sake, I KNOW she's not concerned. I made it very clear how trivial my post is. I'm really just curious if anyone shared my utterly unimportant opinion on her dress style. Obviously a gorgeous, highly accomplished woman and I'm pretty sure I wasn't implying otherwise.

Maybe it is a slight 80's vibe I'm getting, I can't put my finger on it. Everything she wears looks "almost" nice but not quite to my eyes. Weird.

She is very showy and the whole thing is just so staged. Yes George, we get it, you've married a woman. Well done.

HoneyTits · 28/09/2014 18:19

Slightly off topic but I keep calling her Alma Puddin' (was there a poster who called herself Alma Puddin?)

I haven't seen the pics of her yesterday but the ones I have seen she is impossibly beautiful and glamorous.

I do wonder though, after all the
beards girlfriends he's had, what was it about her that changed his mind of being an eternal Batchelor.

Inkanta · 28/09/2014 18:27

I quite like her style - she takes a few risks.

What is bugging me is him though. I hope he loves her. He doesn't look like a man in love but I hope I'm wrong. Maybe he's just a bit distracted with all his A list guests.

Rainbunny · 28/09/2014 18:28

Honey - I think he finally found someone who was "good enough" for him, although I'm sure wasn't he was calculated about it. His mother said something along the lines of Alamuddin and GC being "intellectual equals." I think Alam Alamuddin is far superior intellectually to GC, he's the lucky one. I read he is planning a move into politics so she would obviously be a great asset.

I think she looks great pretty much all of the time. I agree that he is the lucky one, she is a catch!

bodhranbae · 28/09/2014 18:53

She looked fabulous.
A bit of Hollywood old school glamour.

SaucyJack · 28/09/2014 18:54

I just Googled her, and the first pic I found was of her standing on a boat dressed as a loo roll holder dolly. So, um, YABU.

SaucyJack · 28/09/2014 18:55

*YANBU

Fairylea · 28/09/2014 18:56

I think she looks much older than she actually is. I'm not far off her age and she dresses like she's about 50. Which might explain why she's marrying someone who is older....

.

stoopstoconker · 28/09/2014 18:58

YANBU - but I think they'll give Brad n' Ange some stiff competition.

LineRunner · 28/09/2014 19:00

If I must join in Smile I would venture that her make up is rather full on.

Nancery · 28/09/2014 19:03

I think she's incredibly beautiful, but I agree that some of the outfits are a bit weird (the white dress with flowers on, for example.) In a more dressed down way she looks really chic.
Agree GC is the lucky one in particular (obviously know neither of them but am carrying on the lighthearted vein!) He looks besotted too from the pics I've seen.

SpaceStation · 28/09/2014 19:07

Hmm I think her dress sense is maybe a bit bonkers, but in a good way. She looks like she has her own taste and doesn't give a damn. She often shows a lot of leg and if that was me I'd be worried about my arse/fanjo being on display, especially with all those paps around - yet it never seems to happen so maybe she knows what she's doing! And she has great legs.

I actually find the cloonster a bit of an irrelevance in all this. I mean I hope they're happy but she seems to exist completely independently of him (well, of course she does, but that isn't always how the spouses of the famous come across IYSWIM).

Laquila · 28/09/2014 19:15

SpaceStation I couldn't have put it better. I think she looks mad as a fish, yet fabulous - she's like an impossibly youthful and more gorgeous Joan Collins (and I LOVE JC).

Honey could the timing have something to do with Stacey Kiebler also married and preggers?...

Sunnyhaze · 28/09/2014 19:16

I think GC has done very well for himself...but it all seems a little calculated to me. He clearly has political ambitions and she would help position him as a serious political contender. That said, I wish them the best. Will be fascinated to see whether they have a family or not (but for some reason, I would guess not).

Roussette · 28/09/2014 19:30

Gorgeous woman but what a dreadful monstrosity of a dress that white lacy with coloured flowers and odd hem thing is
Love the red dress she wore.

Lovely romantic place Venice and what great pics Bono you need to ditch the blue glasses, you've been wearing them for 25 years!

IamHelenaJustina · 28/09/2014 19:32

I think this weekend's rather formal gear is a very particular fashion choice. Rather theatrical and Ventian I think. The dress she arrived in - the stripes - was very different.
When a man and a woman decide to marry I think it's only courteous to assume it arises from love and a wish to be together rather than dubious motives.
