To think these boots aren't 'butch' and to hope that means they aren't mumsy either

DPs comment on arrival is they're 'butch'. AIBU to not really care and to think that if Dr Marten's are butch then they can still be cool IYKWIM. I'd be more worried if he said they're 'ladylike' tbh.

I'm not a girly girl but I do wear mostly skirts or leggings in bright colours, have long hair. am not as slim as I'd like and generally think life's too short to wear only black

What do you reckon? What's your perfect boot this season Wink

I don't know if they're butch but they are ace and I'd wear them.

That may not be a compliment though Hmm

BastardGoDarkly · 27/09/2014 15:13

They're bloody lovely :) and will last for ages.

I've got my eye firmly on some dm aimilie, they shall be mine :)

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 27/09/2014 15:13

I wear Dr Martens.

Have two pairs of Triumphs in black and brown and a pair of their brown wedgie zip up ones.

SiL likes to tell me I look like 'a lady who likes ladies' every time I put them on.

Hmm

Not that I give a shite. All of the lesbians I know are pretty hot and stylish.

If you like them then wear them.

girlwhowearsglasses · 27/09/2014 15:13

Thanks!

I love them, gorgeous and practical.

Topaz25 · 27/09/2014 15:17

Who cares what people think? If you're happy with them wear them!

LadyLuck10 · 27/09/2014 15:18

It reminds me of construction worker boots. Maybe that's what your DH is trying to say. That's just my opinion though and it doesn't matter, if you like it then go for it.

Dawndonnaagain · 27/09/2014 15:21

Love them and I know at least one mumsnetter who has a similar pair.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 27/09/2014 15:21

I like them. I'm looking at the mes or mol ones. I need comfy, flattish boots for the hour round trip school run.

formerbabe · 27/09/2014 15:24

They are not to my taste and whilst they could hardly be described as 'feminine', they are not butch. Wear what you want.

I find fly more comfy (bouncier soles) than Clarks. I'd like knee high boots with fitflop soles but the ones I tried in were like wellies!

5madthings · 27/09/2014 15:32

I like them and I have some fly boots though mine are shorter and red but they are a very similar style.

They are nice op I would wear them.

PuzzleRocks · 27/09/2014 15:38

I think they are great and not butch at all (not that I see that as a bad thing). They look positively girly next to the New Rock boots that I favour.

cavkc · 27/09/2014 15:43

Lovely might have to accidentally buy them :-)

DurhamDurham · 27/09/2014 15:51

I love Fly London boots, I have a very similar pair that are almost three years old and still look new. Get them Smile

NorbertDentressangle · 27/09/2014 15:54

I love Fly boots and have a couple of pairs - comfortable and stylish IMO.

In fact last year someone stopped me in the street and asked where I'd bought them as she loved them!

girlwhowearsglasses · 27/09/2014 15:56

Oh good! I have this wierd logic going on with colour- I hardly wear black boots - I find that a colour in winter works really well as it goes well with black outfit and brown/neutral outfit and coloured outfit. I don't like brown boots with black clothes (I have some lovely brown boots but not for every day comfy wear). I've had green and blue patent boots from Boden the last few years but this year they are crap (patent = no cleaning =win)

I kind of feel the same about coats and colour

girlwhowearsglasses · 27/09/2014 15:57

Anyway the point for that was that nearly all boots are black or brown Confused

wingcommandergallic · 27/09/2014 15:57

I had some similar and wore them with skirts and dresses quite happily.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 27/09/2014 16:05

The fly boots are great, proper practical soles (I want some tan short boots with proper soles).

Are the butch? They might be on me, but I have size four feet. Sometimes makers scale boots properly and sometimes they look like wellies.

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/09/2014 16:06

i'm a huge Fly fan. no way are they butch or mumsey!

Thumbwitch · 27/09/2014 16:08

No I don't think they're butch, I think they're great! one of my friends has very similar boots and she's very far from being butch, or mumsy, or uber feminine - she has great style!

drbonnieblossman · 27/09/2014 16:16

They are really lovely. Will be great with jeans or skirts - you'll get so much wear out of them.

On the practical side, they'll keep you upright in the snow/ice.

The Clarks ones are in my opinion very twee and mumsy.

5madthings · 27/09/2014 16:19

My fly boots are red patent. Quick wipe with a wet wipe and they are good to go if they get dirty. I also have two pairs of knee high Brown boots. I want some blue/turquoise boots.

My Brown boots one pair are reiker? They are wool lined and waterproof great for winter. The other are dms that do up with a zip on inside leg. I bought them when preg with ds2, he is now 12! All my boots have a slight heel as I am a short arse. But they are all comfy and withstand a two mile walk to School in all weather's over winter.
