To think these boots aren't 'butch' and to hope that means they aren't mumsy either

DPs comment on arrival is they're 'butch'. AIBU to not really care and to think that if Dr Marten's are butch then they can still be cool IYKWIM. I'd be more worried if he said they're 'ladylike' tbh.

I'm not a girly girl but I do wear mostly skirts or leggings in bright colours, have long hair. am not as slim as I'd like and generally think life's too short to wear only black

What do you reckon? What's your perfect boot this season Wink

I am a size 4 btw and the fly boots are not butch on me. Some people find they come up small/are snug on the calf.

MehsMum · 27/09/2014 16:22

I think they're fab. I was wondering about new boots this winter...

Mandatorymongoose · 27/09/2014 16:25

I love my Doc's - I have a pair of bright yellow boots which I wear all the time. They are girly and not at all girly both at the same time.

PhaedraIsMyName · 27/09/2014 16:26

They would be ok if they didn't have the ugly ridged sole.

serenaserene · 27/09/2014 16:40

I am a fan of FLY shoes and have had lots of different styles over the years. I coveted the 'Mol' style which are a similar for ages and eventually bought a pair (bottle green), but hated them and sent them back. I did find them quite 'unfeminine' - they looked like great big worker boots on me but don't on other people I have seen wearing them. Maybe it's because I have biggish feet for my height?

I settled for the divine 'Yust'!

Horses for courses I guess. If you like them enjoy them.

.....and now I've got boot lust.......

LumpenproletariatAndProud · 27/09/2014 16:46

They aren't butch, they are lush and Ive saved them to my favourites as a winter purchase.

Nice one OP.

HavanaSlife · 27/09/2014 16:52

I have some similar so no I don't think they are butch!

inloominotnorti · 27/09/2014 16:52

Not butch at all! I would think Doc Marten's would be much more butch!

MrSheen · 27/09/2014 16:54

I had some similar a few years ago. I have a shaved head

Mrsstarlord · 27/09/2014 16:54

Love, love, love them!

Almost all my shoes and boots for work are Fly, comfy, stylish, not the usual run of the mill style (i.e. not the sort of thing my mum would wear).

Not at all butch - clear the man has no taste - except in women Wink

Sicaq · 27/09/2014 16:54

They're ace! I love DMs. Does he believe ladies should totter around in heels, or something?

CustardOmlet · 27/09/2014 16:58

I'm on my second pair of these and they are amazing! Can't tuck jeans in but great with leggings or wider leg trousers. I replaced my Dr Martins with these and don't regret it!

Ilovexmastime · 27/09/2014 17:11

I love them. I have a pair of green calf length fly boots and love them too, although the fit is a bit narrow for them to be my every day boots.
The Clark boots were very mumsy!

RainbowRabbit33 · 27/09/2014 17:12

Not butch, I considered getting them but they looked awful on me when I tried them on (sure they'll be fine on you, I have pigeon toes and flat boots often look rubbish).

Off topic, Fly do shoes that are called 'Yoni'. I snigger every time I see them (mature, me, honest)!

Aherdofmims · 27/09/2014 19:37

They are very nice.

WalkWithTheLonelyOnes · 27/09/2014 20:01

I think they're a tiny bit butch but I like them. I love rough looking boots with floaty floral dresses IYSWIM

Lifesalemon · 27/09/2014 20:16

I absolutely love them. And I'm so jealous Envy
I have very fat large calfs though so unfortunately have to dream. I found a 3/4 length pair from clarks though similar style with buckles so they will have to do.

McWeedie · 27/09/2014 20:37

My best friend has the same boots, her husband hates them he thinks they are butch but he thinks Converse are butch too. Personally I think he's got no taste and they're fab!

Roonerspism · 27/09/2014 20:41

I have similar Fly ones and they are ace. V comfy too.

OK they are not utterly feminine - that isn't my look anyway - but they definitely aren't mumsy!

If "butch" means not stupid spindly high heels then that's good in my books

MrsWinnibago · 27/09/2014 20:41

They're not butch! My DH once said "You look...sort of tough." when i wore a checked shirt! It was one of those flannel types and I thought I looked all feminine in my oversized shirt. Obviously not. Hmm I was less Felicity Kendall and more Meatloaf.

HeartShapedBox · 27/09/2014 20:45

haha, they're not butch!

I too wear dm's... as does dh, ds1 and dd.

anyway, sod what he thinks, if you like them, wear them.
it's your feet!

spongebob5 · 27/09/2014 20:52

I like them Smile but then I've got a pair of DMs , that my DP calls my dyke boots! Cheeky fucker! These are they

To think these boots aren't 'butch' and to hope that means they aren't mumsy either
RockinHippy · 27/09/2014 20:54

I love them, (bookmarks page) Grin

& I'm not thought of as butch - though I wear Caterpillar & Tank boots - these are very similar to my favourite Cat boots, which I need to replace this winter :)

They would go with will jeans or dresses & opaque tights as my similar pair do - take no notice of him, he obviously is no style Guru Wink

BetweenDogandWolf · 27/09/2014 21:03

I love them! What is the fit like? I have very narrow feet and quite skinny calves and wondering if they'd fit me? (Have tried on loads of boots that don't Sad )

FreudiansSlipper · 27/09/2014 21:03

They are not butch

but I think they are a little mumsy

I love heavy looking boots dm's are much nicer IMO (but I do not wear them)
