I've still got the Topsy and Tim books from the 70s and DD loves them, we have the gypsy/ cocoa powder one. Also the dentist one when a naughty boy eats toffee and falls off a table.

The lady who wrote them lives in the next village to us

BaconAndAvocado · 25/09/2014 22:11

I adore this programme!

Topsy and Tim's Mum is my role model: constantly cheerful, always groomed, and always extremely lovely and patient with her children.

God I hate this programme!

TheLastThneed · 25/09/2014 22:18

Dd is always asking me when they're starting school...I nearly started a thread about it to find out if anyone had any insider knowledge...Grin

aprilanne · 25/09/2014 22:23

i had those books as school reading books in the early 70.s

DIYandEatCake · 25/09/2014 22:24

bacon yes but on the flip side, topsy and Tim are our kids' role models. When dd copies them ('thanks mum!' Said in a chirpy and enthusiastic manner) I rather like it Grin.

kormasutra · 25/09/2014 22:25

And to go off on the woolly and tig tangent, tig's mummy is actually her real life auntie though her dad is her real dad and I think she was only 3 or so when it started, that must be confusing for the little actress.
Plus has anyone noticed who does the voice of woolly the spider?
It's good old Freddy Fox from peppa pig:)

Anyway, dd, 3.7 has just discovered topsy and tim, she BlOODY loves it

It drives me mad, the house has paint samples all over the wall and there is carpet in the kitchen!! Plus mossy the dog looks half starved and the Windows need a good scrub....I could go on critical bugger aren't I

furcoatbigknickers · 25/09/2014 22:50

I do like tt's mummy and daddys cupboard in the hall... The wallpaper in the bedriom was a bit ott and imagine daddy thinking he could wallpaper with two ageless twins helping. Good job tt called decorator Dave.

furcoatbigknickers · 25/09/2014 22:51

Bedriom = bedroom not benidormShock

furcoatbigknickers · 25/09/2014 22:53

Korma i didnt know thay about Tigg... Thats child abuse. Grin i coukd do with a talking spider as long as it doesnt have green fangs.

furcoatbigknickers · 25/09/2014 22:54

Yes but bacon, shes max branni gs shagbit girlfriend on ee.... Shes just the sameShock

poolomoomon · 25/09/2014 22:55

I quite enjoy T&T. I've got into it a smidgen Blush, find myself hoping DC will ask for it on iplayer if I'm honest. That's really very sad isn't it? Grin

Pico2 · 25/09/2014 23:02

Does anyone have neighbours as friendly as T&T's? I find it a bit disturbing.

furcoatbigknickers · 25/09/2014 23:12

Pool there isno hope im afraid sorry
Wink

Momagain1 · 25/09/2014 23:48

mumoftwo I saw what you did there. Bear

WhispersOfWickedness · 26/09/2014 06:50

The neighbours clearly just wanted to nose around the house, no one is that friendly to new neighbours...
My DC love the dentist episode, I do have to look away when Josie Miller wobbles her tooth though, yuck!

I remember dd loving the books back in 1978 when she was 4! I didn't know it was a tv series. T&T seemed to be about the same age as dd so they would be 40 now :)

Anjelika · 26/09/2014 10:52

Completely agree about the wait for them moving house - it went on and on and ditto them going to school. It was advertised weeks back that the new series was starting and T&T would be going to school so every day my DCs think today will be the day. I have actually got DTs who have just started school and can confirm without any doubt that T&T are nothing like your average school starters. Mine usually watch it on Catch up before bed and, for a bit of fun, I sometimes get them to pretend to be T&T afterwards, going to bed just like T&T would i.e. straight away, saying yes mummy with no arguments or tantrums. It never works though Wink. In turn I have to be the over cheerful and very patient T&T mummy!

pluCaChange · 26/09/2014 13:09

LOL at going to the Bastarding Doctor! Do you suppose a Bastarding Doctor is an IVF-plus-divorce clinic?

honeypie10 · 26/09/2014 13:37

My 2 year old ds adores "toppy and tim". When it finishes he constantly shouts more toppy tim, more toppy tim. He now (thanks to these 2) has taken to say mmy/ daddy at the end of every sentence a la topsy and tim. Bloody irritating little brats. If my child was friends with them id be looking at moving away!

Does it piss anyone else off the amount of times the grandma comes round with that disease riddled dog on its lasts legs. At first i thought it was joyces mum but found out this week its the dads mum. So its her mother in law, She always seems to be at their house, with the dog in tow. cant it stay on its own or something?? If my mil turned up on my doorstep expecting to bring her skanky dog in my house to give it a bath she'd be met with a fist in the chops and a mouthful of abuse. But ever so pleasant joyce doesnt even care how much her mil butts in all the time. Grow a pair woman. tell her to do 1!!

*Looks at own anger issues with mil Blush.

I know why the mum is putting on such a cheerful front all the time.

She's only shagging Max Branning. DON'T TELL ANYONE I TOLD YOU

MiscellaneousAssortment · 27/09/2014 03:30

But will we EVER actually see the school???

Chippednailvarnish · 27/09/2014 07:25

I reckon Mum and Dad are swingers, that's why they're so cheerful and that's why the neighbours all rushed over as soon as they moved in.

Only1scoop · 27/09/2014 07:28

"We can play day after day and the fun will never end"

We don't have to go to school you fools....

Far to much cup cake baking and rabbit sitting to be done.
