No gloating.
No blaming.

Just appreciation for a huge turnout and a peaceful process.

It's not rainbows and moonbeams, you have nothing to add by comments like that that hasn't already been hashed out a million times.

The currency issue would have been resolved. We'll never know how now, but it would have.

EarthWindFire · 20/09/2014 11:09

Just double checked Morris. It's in settings, then you go down to friends. There is a box next to the individual pictures. Just untick it .

Bearbehind · 20/09/2014 11:13

The currency issue would have been resolved. We'll never know how now, but it would have.

And that's why Yes didn't win- not knowing how it would be resolved was completely unacceptable to many

deeedeee · 20/09/2014 11:14

the 45 thing doesn't need to be divisive. Maybe it needs a name change in the coming weeks, but disillusioned NO's should find a home as well as people who wanted change but not necessarily independence (i could fit into that category in some ways). and people across the UK that are feeling this way tooThis is a good thing to read today bellacaledonia.org.uk/2014/09/19/wipe-your-eyes-on-your-feet/

Stat yes you are maybe right, I think we've found this in our discussions on here in the past. You're probably the only person i have any respect for here. and as chelsy's just arrived I'll make no apologies in saying my goodbyes.

Cheerio, good luck with the aftermath

ChelsyHandy · 20/09/2014 11:14

Yep, jobs for the boys (no matter how bad they are at the actual job) as usual. Nothing changes either way.

Your lady on the plane friend was right. On independence, they obviously wouldn't have got proper legal and constitutional experts, but this bizarre class of "consultants" with track records of being kicked out of various jobs on golden handshakes and a sterling network of similar contacts, with a weird array of wonderfully varied and irrelevant qualifications.

I could just see that Craig Murray chap who was sacked after a very short stint as ambassador to Uzebekistant and who was trying to promote himself as some sort of constitutional expert, lining himself up to try and get out of his current unemployable state.

PhaedraIsMyName · 20/09/2014 11:16

The Guardian has this sneery, snide little article from Irivine (now living in Chicago) Welsh on its front page.

Irvine Welsh: this glorious failure could yet be Scotland's finest hour

gu.com/p/4xm9x I suppose he has to back track from his utterances earlier about

"This amazing country has, to its own great surprise, lit a torch of freedom that will burn across the world. "

sconequeen · 20/09/2014 11:17

When you believe that something is right for your children, your community and your country, you do not give up.

I actually feel bolstered by the results on Thursday. I now know that over 1.5 million people in Scotland want independence. I believe that it is the only way to a fairer Scotland because the Westminster system will never deliver real change and, even more fundamentally, because I believe in the principle of self-determination and of countries governing themselves and making the best decisions for the people who live in them. We are not giving up.

I am sad that people voted No but I hold no animosity against them. It is up to the Yes campaign to keep explaining its reasons, and to try to win people over in a peaceful and positive way, which we will do. It's all part of the democratic process.

merrymouse · 20/09/2014 11:17

I think the currency issue would have been resolved. Just not in a way that made anybody in Scotland happy. No such thing as a free ride.

ChelsyHandy · 20/09/2014 11:18

Had a look on the Wings over Scotland page. I see he's trying to eke out a continued living by turning it into a media bias/establishment plot kind of thing. Its so biased, its unreal.

I know we all have to earn an honest penny, but I don't think making money out of people who are prone to paranoid delusions is particularly honest. I was always taught to turn down business as being unethical if it involved taking money from people who were clearly only asking you to work for them as a result of some kind of mental issue.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 20/09/2014 11:19

deeedeee yes, I agree the45 need a name change - otherwise they leave themselves wide open to being compared to those who still haven't got over 1745 .

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 20/09/2014 11:20

When you believe that something is right for your children, your community and your country, you do not give up

Exactly and that's why the majority voted to stay in the Union

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 20/09/2014 11:20

Bear you're really late to the party here. Questions were unanswered because Cameron refused to discuss any details because the cocky bastard thought that he had nothing to worry about.

No one wanted a free ride.

ChelsyHandy · 20/09/2014 11:20

merrymouse I think the currency issue would have been resolved. Just not in a way that made anybody in Scotland happy. No such thing as a free ride.

Yes, I could see it going a similar way to Slovakia when it tried to share the Czech currency on their split after independence without a political union. The Slovakian currency ended up with something like a 15% less value than the Czech version. A number of parallels with Scotland actually - smaller population for one.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/09/2014 11:21

Wings properly spat his dummy out on Twitter during the results. Whilst I was not pleased to see so many people upset and disappointed, he was one who I was not upset for as I think many of his contributions to the campaign were odious.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 20/09/2014 11:23

The currency issue would have been resolved. We'll never know how now, but it would have

Yes, of course it would have been resolved. There were options. Do you not care that NONE of them would have benefitted an iScotland.

sconequeen · 20/09/2014 11:24

Exactly and that's why the majority voted to stay in the Union

And at least some of them are going to find out quite soon that they had the wool pulled over their eyes by the Westminster parties.

You are entitled to your view, and I am entitled to mine. Thursday's results have not put an end to the debate. We are just entering a new phase.

Bearbehind · 20/09/2014 11:24

Bear you're really late to the party here. Questions were unanswered because Cameron refused to discuss any details because the cocky bastard thought that he had nothing to worry about.

It's not me that was late to the party- the White Paper was drawn up years ago- the subject of currency should never have been left til the 11th hour in the first place.

If a robust currency plan had been in place I have no doubt Yes would have won.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 20/09/2014 11:25

You don't know that. We never will now. So there's really no argument is there?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 20/09/2014 11:25

Bear there are a number of options laid out in the white paper. Did you see them?

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 20/09/2014 11:27

UK government refused to discuss any of them.

Do you think that was because, as you say, a robust plan might have meant more yes support.

livingzuid · 20/09/2014 11:27

I am sad that people voted No but I hold no animosity against them. It is up to the Yes campaign to keep explaining its reasons, and to try to win people over in a peaceful and positive way, which we will do. It's all part of the democratic process.

Ah scone you've always posted very politely. I see what point you are making now and I wish you luck with your campaigning.

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 20/09/2014 11:29

scone a few people may have voted 'NO' because of the vow, but I doubt there were many and I'm sure an equal number changed their vote to 'Yes' because of it! The Three Amigos are hardly awe inspiring.

If 'Yes' had won, there would have been the best part of 1.6 million people realising that the wool had been pulled over their eyes.

Bearbehind · 20/09/2014 11:29

Bear there are a number of options laid out in the white paper. Did you see them?

Yes and as latte pointed out, none of them were in iScotlands best interests.

How would a currency union with rUK given iScotland independence?

Hell would have frozen over before Spain allowed iScotland to use the Euro.

StatisticallyChallenged · 20/09/2014 11:30

LovleyRita we've also discussed in detail what was wrong with each of those currency options, and in particular with the ones the SNP were favouring.

livingzuid · 20/09/2014 11:33

scone regarding your point about Westminster and the woolly stuff. I should have added that for many No voters it went well beyond politics. For me, I hate them all - aside from Caroline Lucas who I have always admired and Gordon Brown I find has had a resurgence.

I am dithering about what to do now in the runup to the next election and hope there are some threads that pop up soon where we can explore what to do politically now we have this situation. Damned straight I don't want some bastardised version of UKIP in government next time round which is all I see the Conservatives to be. I don't see it happening but still....just in case.....
