Evening all!

OP posts:
StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 02:45

Current summary

Turnout 83.5% (as far as known)
40.83% yes

Assuming average turnout, Yes need an average of 53% of remaining votes to win.

Cambiodenombre · 19/09/2014 02:46

The results are coming in slower than expected. Wonder if I can take a quick nap.....

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 02:47

It's still too close isn't it SC? Especially with Dundee, Aberdeenshire, Glasgow and West Lothian (was it) pegged as Yes. I don't know if I can bear it but equally I know I won't sleep.

flippinada · 19/09/2014 02:47

From the Guardian live blog:

The Yes Campaign is also expecting to lose in Aberdeenshire - with some very downbeat SNP members at the AECC. There is talk that anything more than 45% for Yes across Scotland would be a good result for them.

In East Lothian, the No camp is confident of a comfortable victory, looking like about a 60-40 split.

The turnout in Comhairle nan Eilean Siar was 86.2%.

No campaigners at the Aberdeen City count are predicting a 57% vote rejecting independence.

EverythingIsAwesome · 19/09/2014 02:48

West Lothian unofficially no :(

StatisticallyChallenged · 19/09/2014 02:48

Ignore last figure, spreadsheet failure!

Luckytwo · 19/09/2014 02:48

With Glasgow so low in turnout it is looking unlikely now, although Orkney and Shetland were never going to vote yes. Not so sure about clack. Dundee also low in turnout ( I say low 79% )

Roonerspism · 19/09/2014 02:49

Likely no win by 53 per cent in W Lothian but not confirmed yet.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/09/2014 02:49

You are soooo StatisticallyChallenged Grin

flippinada · 19/09/2014 02:49

Some talk that no are expecting 60/40 in their favour. Which is more tha expected.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 19/09/2014 02:50

It's impressive that we're talking about a 75% turnout being low

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 19/09/2014 02:50

Stroke, I agree with that. Woe betide any politician that takes a no result for granted & sits on their laurels. I hope they've all had a rude awakening and actually listen to what people, on both sides, have been saying they are unhappy about, and show willing to actually do something about it.

Roonerspism · 19/09/2014 02:50

Amazed such low turnout in Glasgow. Why would that be?

IPityThePontipines · 19/09/2014 02:50

FFS Who let Ricky Ross and his peculiarly-dyed hair on?

In other celeb news, Manda Rin of Bis is a no.

Cambiodenombre · 19/09/2014 02:51

The turnout has been amazing.

Username12345 · 19/09/2014 02:51

Damnit! Left for a minute and Shetland gets their results in.

squoosh · 19/09/2014 02:51

It is, but if people aren't going to turn up to vote in this referendum they will never bother with a common or garden general election. Great turn out elsewhere though.

tabulahrasa · 19/09/2014 02:51

Roonerspism - that's really high for Glasgow, it always has a lower turnout.

GrouchyKiwi · 19/09/2014 02:52

I really hope that's correct, flippinada. Might make it easier to take for Yes voters.

Roonerspism · 19/09/2014 02:52

I know Rita. As soon as I typed it I thought how bonkers it sounded. But significantly lower...

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 19/09/2014 02:52

AngrySalmond twitter account is the best Grin

squoosh · 19/09/2014 02:52

Bis!

Haven't heard them in years. I think she makes badges now.

squoosh · 19/09/2014 02:52

I love Angry Salmond.

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 02:53

Oh yes. This referendum has shaken the establishment to their core. If there is no change then Scotland can quite rightly vote again to leave and I suspect it would go through a second time.

Also it's led the way for the whole country. I'm really excited to see what changes we can bring about in my home area which really suffers from under representation problems too and loses out to other parts of the country.

livingzuid · 19/09/2014 02:54

Can I please ask Where Eilean Siar is Blush west coast?
