to feel happy and excited about voting YES!

I am just back from the polling booth and can say that I have never felt so positive about voting. The feeling that my vote is actually counting, rather than being swalowed up as is the case with Westminster voting, is also fantastic.

IMO a yes vote will reinvigorate the whole of Britain and, amongst other things, allow Scotland and England build better relations as equal but interdependent neighbours and allies.

Don't care actually!

England will be fine as will Scotland.

Now Let's grow up

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 23:24

TeamScotland really? Did you see the wee man with the giant yes placard at the roundabout before the tunnel yesterday?

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 23:29

Chelsy what on earth are you on about "Salmonds foot soldiers"? Is that meant to mean me for having ooh the nerve to put on an independence thread that I have voted yes ..... How is that being "hard at work"?

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 23:30

Areyoureallysure, apology accepted Smile

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 23:35

Greengrow if it's a No vote what do you mean "we need to insist on parity over prescription charges"? Don't tell me you hold the ignorant and mistaken view that England somehow subsidises and pays for these?? Surely not? You do realise that the Scottish Government pays for this out of their health budget and Westminster could choose to do this to for the rest of the UK - but they don't. Instead they allocate a bigger percentage of funding to services that Scotland doesn't, like walk in centres. Sigh ....otherwise why are you looking for parity?

gingee · 18/09/2014 23:41

DH saying we're cancelling our trips to Scotland next year. Sigh. Booked Gorgeous cottage. Apparently media saying a lot of people are doing the same. Unfortunately there's a lot of vitriol on his Facebook from Scots acquaintances and he's saying no way will he visit.

browneyedgirl86 · 18/09/2014 23:53

That's a shame if you cancel the holiday Gingee. There is badness in both sides. :-( My parents and my grandparents were given abuse today in Hull for being Scottish "having the cheek to want to independence"

DP and I are visiting England next month on holiday. No way would we let a minority spoil it for us.

itsmeitscathy · 18/09/2014 23:57

Yes OP, I went to work with a massive smile on my face.

mrsruffallo · 19/09/2014 00:04

I would too gingee, especially in the event of a no vote winning. Its frightening how salmon has stirred up the nationalistic bully brigade.

Shockers · 19/09/2014 11:58

We've got a lodge booked in Aviemore in Feb. I'm not cancelling!

oddcommentator · 19/09/2014 12:20

Have a look at this

The noise from the Yes campaign is focussed on a very small geographical area
maps

My job, my home and my country is now safe. I am very very relieved.

Large swathes of the population saw sense - and weren't taken in by the fairy stories and rampant bollocks from the yes campaign.

There was a huge amount of astro-turfing going on by yes and there was a very slick, professional and expensive campaign by yes. This was no arab spring, this was no long walk to freedom, no berlin wall. It was orchestrated, planned and execute. Every single phrase uttered was chosen specifically to create a sense of optimism and warmth where no concrete policy existed.

Breaking apart an entire nation with no thought to currency, to economy, to defence, to pensions, jobs to, well anything. Saying it would all be sorted out in the wash just isnt tenable. He knew this and was deliberately vague and stamped on the dissent of simply asking.

Ask yourself - was the protest against Nick Robinson spontaneous, or planned organised and executed by central control? Look at the banners - this was part of an orchestrated campaign to discredit the people who dared to ask anything.

Salmond has to go - he has no mandate - the SNP exists to seek independence. He was weighed, measured and found wanting. Off you jog you wrecker of nations

ajandjjmum · 19/09/2014 13:54

We've got a cottage booked for the Open next July - hope everyone's friends by then!

I'm very pleased that Scotland has voted to stay. :)

KissMyFatArse · 19/09/2014 14:10

Shockers I loooove aviemore, don't cancel! You'll love it.

X

gingee · 19/09/2014 15:00

DH being more reasonable !! I'm of Scottish parents and have tons of family there but he says it doesn't make me Scottish haha I guess he's right.

IamHelenaJustina · 19/09/2014 16:22

Salmond IS going.......

DancingBabyGroot · 19/09/2014 16:51

Salmond has resigned. Breaking news on STV just now.

wotoodoo · 19/09/2014 17:17

While I was sitting on the fence with this issue thinking if the Scots want their independence then so be it, I must say the bully boy tactics and aggression showed by Salmond's henchmen really nailed the coffin for me, and for many others I believe.

I think many more might possibly have voted for independence but for the ugly, loutish behaviour that was in clearly in evidence. Many decent people would not want to be associated with that.

Shockers · 19/09/2014 18:25

I most certainly won't KissMyFatArse (felt daft typing that Grin)... I'm really excited about it!

area52 · 20/09/2014 14:01

wootoo who exactly are salmond's hench men? is this who you mean?

Shockers Wink

I'm so jealous your going, have a wee vino ( or dramSmile) at the cairngorm hotel if you can. Old fashioned but is great! X

Tinkerball · 21/09/2014 13:15

wotoo have you any links to any particular "ugly loutish" behaviour apart from the idiot who threw an egg at Jim Murphy. Because I can certainly give you a few to the "ugly loutish" behaviour of some No supporters...except I don't class them all the same just because of it, you get idiots on both sides. And it certainly wasn't Yes supporters causing bother in George Square the other night, which was the worst of the behaviour reported.
