to feel happy and excited about voting YES!

I am just back from the polling booth and can say that I have never felt so positive about voting. The feeling that my vote is actually counting, rather than being swalowed up as is the case with Westminster voting, is also fantastic.

IMO a yes vote will reinvigorate the whole of Britain and, amongst other things, allow Scotland and England build better relations as equal but interdependent neighbours and allies.

OP posts:
livingzuid · 18/09/2014 17:45

starshaker I am glad it felt that way. Regardless of which way it went that is what a vote is supposed to feel like Smile

happybubblebrain · 18/09/2014 17:47

I haven't fallen for any line I've seen all the scaremongering and blackmailing for myself. Our government doesn't give a shit about Scotland, they don't have their best interests at heart at all, they are bunch of fakes pretending that they care now.

We don't have a fair and just society - not by a long shot. This is Scotland's only chance to achieve that. Whether they do or not, time will tell.

ArcheryAnnie · 18/09/2014 17:49

So, happybubblebrain, are you looking forward to Murdoch and millionaire homophobe Sir Brian Souter helping you achieve that fair and just society, then?

MexicanSpringtime · 18/09/2014 17:53

Oh OP, I have my fingers crossed for you.

I'm not Scottish, I'm a "cousin".

But just listening to the news and reading up on the situation, Westminster politicians would not be half as freaked out about Scottish independence if Scotland was such a loser country as they make out.

happybubblebrain · 18/09/2014 17:55

No I don't think so. Is that a silly question?

happybubblebrain · 18/09/2014 17:56

I love watching them all squirm and grovel, it's amusing.

ArcheryAnnie · 18/09/2014 17:57

It's a relevant question.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 17:58

There is no scaremongering and there is no blackmail. If that's how you choose to interpret things then that's your lookout obviously, but it's not an accurate reflection of how things are.

happybubblebrain · 18/09/2014 17:58

I would put it in the silly bracket.

PhaedraIsMyName · 18/09/2014 17:58

I'm a bit offended that because UKIP has no support in Scotland, that makes The English UKIP supporters??

UKIP gained a Scottish MEP at the last European elections at the expense of probably Scotland's best MEP George Lyon.

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 17:59

I would put the "I love watching them all squirm and grovel, it's amusing" comment in the even sillier bracket.

HaroldLloyd · 18/09/2014 18:01

Salmond is pretty squirmy.

ArcheryAnnie · 18/09/2014 18:02

Except these are the people who also want a yes result, happybubblebrain, and have bankrolled it - but I'm betting you and they have quite different visions of what constitutes a fair and just society.

Numanoid · 18/09/2014 18:03

If that's the case, I'm silly, because I think David Cameron deserves to be squirming after refusing DevoMax as an option and giving Scotland, along with the rest of the UK, a rough deal. Workfare, Atos, benefits sanctions, the bedroom tax... unbelievable.

atticusclaw · 18/09/2014 18:04

"its amusing" Hmm

You just lost any credibility with that one statement. How can our country being put under massive economic pressure be amusing?

Bizarre - glad you're finding it funny though

SwedishEdith · 18/09/2014 18:08

Interesting mrsruffalo, that's pretty much what Neil Oliver said on Newsnight last night - I'm glad to say

happybubblebrain · 18/09/2014 18:13

atticusclaw - if you're honest, you didn't think I had any credibility to begin with. I have only my POV, I don't care whether you think I'm credible or not.

And my amusement is directed at the leaders of our country, not our country.

ajandjjmum · 18/09/2014 18:17

Devomax would have split the vote.

Numanoid · 18/09/2014 18:22

Devomax would have split the vote.

I don't want DevoMax, but I think the reasoning behind not including it was that he thought it would never happen. That backfired quite a bit.

HaroldLloyd · 18/09/2014 18:24

I can't remember for the life of me why but isn't there a valid reason why it would have been a bad idea to have DevoMax included.

emotionsecho · 18/09/2014 18:24

I am glad all the 'Yes' voters are happy.

However, I wonder if the Yes voters still want to be part of the EU. If there is a Yes for independence then Scotland will not be a member of the EU as of Friday morning, so no right to move and live and work in any EU member state (including rUK), no access to EU funding, no access to favourable trade arrangements with other EU member states, and as was pointed out by EU Commissioners yesterday Scotland should not assume automatic EU membership, it could take years if it was ever achieved because Spain will block it until its dying breath. Independence from the rest of the UK also means independence from the EU.

TeamScotland · 18/09/2014 18:26

Friday morning? Maybe check that wee detail. Haven't read the rest, you lost me there.

Veritata · 18/09/2014 18:26

It felt really good. Like my vote might make a difference and contribute to a better future for myself, my children and their children after that

And will it still feel really good in 5 years' time if you realise that what you voted for was all smoke and mirrors and has turned into a dreadful expensive mess?

inlectorecumbit · 18/09/2014 18:27

Just off with the family (4 of us) to vote.
A big fat NO for us all
Devolution-not revolution

atticusclaw · 18/09/2014 18:27

I'm very worried about the prospect of a yes vote. I think coming on and making flippant comments about it being amusing watching Cameron squirm demonstrates that you haven't thought through the implications for the rUK or Scotland. Cameron will not be around forever. There is no going back from this decision.

So its not that I don't think people can have a different point of view and its not that I think anyone who votes yes or would be pleased to see a yes vote has no credibility, its that you undermine any credibility you might have by making silly comments.
