Good people of MN - I need to leave this thread just now to get the house tidied and food in. Will check in again later - Flowers Cake Wine and Brew to you all in the meantime.

LegsOfSteel · 18/09/2014 11:31

Sean Connery will be moving back after independence - his taxes will help pay for a few services. No worries.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 18/09/2014 11:32

We are another family who will probably have to either move or at least DH will be long-distance commuting until we can sell the house. But thank you Irn for the job offer.

OneNight · 18/09/2014 11:32

Just back from voting and all was very quiet although busy because I'm in an urban 'battleground' constituency. There were a couple of pcs hanging around inside the polling station looking dead bored and a few reps outside from both parties but overall I would say that the atmmosphere was one of good humour and of huge relief that the matter is soon to be resolved either way which gives me more hope for the country.

highriggs · 18/09/2014 11:32

Longtime lurker people say it so much better than me. Voted no
Very nervous stomach
Polling station was very busy

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 11:32

I've been told if I read the little blue book all my fears will be sorted and I can stop worrying over nothing

Oh god my sides hurt.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 18/09/2014 11:33

Oh that compelling list again. It compels my arteries to bulge..

Talk about blinding with statistics.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 11:33

Off topic but if I was Andy Murray and I was going to write a tweet that I knew would be retweeted thousands of times and reprinted in newspapers etc..................I'd have given it a bit of a spell check first.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 11:33

Enough with the list. It's not compelling. You have to look far deeper than that.

WildThong · 18/09/2014 11:33

Oh dear, anew
Sorry but that list has been on here and totally discredited several times.
I'm afraid copied and pasted shit information doesnt sit well with these threads,

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 18/09/2014 11:34

OK, I found the book. It's, um, not very neutral.

BookABooSue · 18/09/2014 11:34

Fontella I was joking about Andy Murray's influence Grin

WildThong · 18/09/2014 11:35

What did he tweet please?

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 11:37

anew - yes, loads of times and it's been explained why it's a lot of shite. If you do an advanced search you will find all the replies :)

Hoppy - not being neutral is the least of its problems!

dailygrowl · 18/09/2014 11:37

All the best to Scotland and to everyone voting. Probably the most keenly anticipated votes for a long time... lots of media outlets from abroad are now taking a huge interest in the outcome!

squoosh · 18/09/2014 11:37

'Huge day for Scotland today! no campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it. excited to see the outcome. lets do this!'

Fontella · 18/09/2014 11:37

Anewmeanewname

Yes - that's what it's got NOW as PART OF THE UK!

it's going to be a completely different story if it votes to separate - they won't even have a currency.

All those claims are based on what Salmond has told the people Scotland 'belongs to them' and that's what they are going to be walking away with while the rest of the UK with 10 times the population is going to happily wave them off with a 'good luck and bon voyage'.

It ain't gonna happen.

Abra1d · 18/09/2014 11:38

Are we certain AM wasn't hacked on Twitter? Though his brother, Jamie, also came out for 'Yes'.

So they won't be doing any more Davis Cups for GB, will they!

Not that Andy can actually vote.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 11:38

He's no wordsmith but good for him for having an opinion on something.

Fontella · 18/09/2014 11:39

BookABooSue

Yes I know Sue - I should have put a smiley at the end of my reply. Sorry I knew you were joshing and replied in kind, but it didn't quite come across that way.

Yes, I'm sure all the tennis fans are voting 'yes' as we speak.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 18/09/2014 11:41

I love Andy! Good luck to the lad.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 11:41

Weebithill - for me the economic risks are huge. We're almost certainly not getting a currency union. Their next plan is just using the pound. But to do that we need, as a country, to build enormous reserves -at least 30 billion and probably more- to make sure the country is able to run properly. Hong Kong, which has a pegged currency, keeps more than a year's worth of gdp. That's about 140 bn. Reserves are a bit like savings, you can't build them if the government is spending more than it gets in from tax. In Scotland last year we spend 15 billion more than we got in -total spending about 65 billion. We'd need to have spare money to save to build reserves.

The cuts needed will be enormous, far bigger than the tory cuts which if followed in Scotland wouldn't even get us out of the deficit. Those cuts come from welfare, health, education, defence, social care, policing...

Alex salmond admitted they have not planned for this.

That bloody list has been done to death!!!

along with most of the other stuff we've been (kinda, sorta, a bit vaguely) promised.

chocoluvva · 18/09/2014 11:42

The list....

apart from being discredited - it sounds like a manifesto to be greedy IMO.
too bad when the oil runs out, the renewables bought by rUK have to be funded by Scotland on its own, our coastlines and seas have to be defended by Scotland on its own, the farmers have no EU funding, have lost the goodwill of the markets in rUK and the EU, climate change has made dairy and cattle farming ever more expensive and unpopular....

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 11:46

You mean you are not bowled over by its accuracy, clarity and sheer brilliance ifyourhoppy? Grin
