I didn't grasp what isitmes point was there.

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 16:35

Anyone else feeling like after this they definitely need a facebook clearout, and that a friendship or two might slide as well?

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 18/09/2014 16:35

rino it is horrid - I can't do any work. I have cleared out 2 cupboards though, and I might even do a really boring bit of filing to get through the day Confused

wearenotinkansas · 18/09/2014 16:35

Middleaged - I decided a while ago how to vote, but have been following all the developments, including the debates here, just to make sure I was clear in in my decision voting. However, before I voted I made myself watch the second Darling/Salmond debate just so I could say I had listened to all the arguments again!

And I felt rather sick after I'd voted. I've never felt like that in any vote before - and I nearly always vote

I really don't know how the vote will go, I'm inclined to think it will be a narrow no - as I've thought from the outset. There are a lot of very visible yes voters around now so it's really hard to call.

EarthWindFire · 18/09/2014 16:37

Speak now or forever hold your peace I think is the appropriate phrase, after today there will never be another vote and Scotland will always have to do what Westminster decides.

0f course there will probably be another vote in the future or have you got that chrystal ball again.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 18/09/2014 16:37

I have purposely kept off Facebook because of a few posters - I think I'm just going to stay off it for a few weeks after this and then see how I feel.

OneNight · 18/09/2014 16:37

How about the Executive Summary Freddie thinking of my poor brain?

Yep.

wearenotinkansas · 18/09/2014 16:38

Statistically - I've managed to stay on good terms with all my friends - although most of them are voting the same way as me.

The real challenge has been in my relationship with DP. He is a committed yes voter. We've had "a few words".

browneyedgirl86 · 18/09/2014 16:38

I feel that way Statistically :(

I dared to peek on my Facebook and lots are all still reposting nationalist propaganda and talking about Andy Murray and the horrible threats he had. (Which are horrible im not disputing it) but I have already unfollowed the worst offenders.

MindReader · 18/09/2014 16:39

Daughter

You don't have 'to explain this'. I understand, I just don't agree with you.
Can you see the difference?

Perhaps I wasn't clear - it is not about money being the be all and end all.
Not at all.
But it is sadly a reality for most of us that we have to consider our financial security, because without that nothing else can be built upon.

The 'loyalty' bit is the thing - people's concept of loyalty may differ and to what and to whom do you think we should be loyal?

btw, the Queen wasn't made Queen of England through the will of the English people either....

and the only thing History teaches us is that we do not learn from History...

OneNight · 18/09/2014 16:39

Many relationships have been destroyed by this I'm afraid SC. My hope is that it will be limited to the older generation and perhaps avoid the youngsters but I'm not sure about that.

AnnieHoo · 18/09/2014 16:42

We had Tornados flying over the house yesterday, they are quite frequently on an exercise over the Highlands and Islands. I've always found it a huge comfort to have those guys practicing over our skies.

I took the fly over as a reminder to people that we need defence.

leavesalmondoutofit · 18/09/2014 16:44

Voted this morning. I felt as if this was a very meaningful decision with a lot of responsibility. Not just a rote as in any other election, no changing of mind about government in five years. Bring on the morning.

Swingball · 18/09/2014 16:44

I felt happy with my vote, but now I feel a bit sick and quite tense. It's because I've never felt my vote counted that much really, but it does today!

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 16:44

That must be really hard wearenotinkansas. I think my best friend might be a challenge - it's not the fact she's on the other side so to speak, but the sheer lack of respect for other opinions. It's like she's lost any sense of perspective or filter, the number of offensive or just plain rubbish things that are going up from her are awful. I don't know how to talk to her anymore.

I think how she responds to the result will be the clincher for me.

AnnieHoo · 18/09/2014 16:44

Yes I feel quite hurt by some fb posts but keeping off it myself and venting here instead. Sorry!

SirChenjin · 18/09/2014 16:44

Anyone else feeling like after this they definitely need a facebook clearout, and that a friendship or two might slide as well?

Another yep here. Just how do you get past the fact that people who you thought were your friends on the same wavelength have such opposite views and are willing to strip you of your nationality?

Igneococcus · 18/09/2014 16:45

AnnieHoo we had helicopters at the small airport close to me in the early hours this morning, it's not an airbase but RAF planes and helicopters land there sometimes. They might have been refuelling. Some exercise has been going on for a few days.

OneNight · 18/09/2014 16:46

I think how she responds to the result will be the clincher for me.

I think that that will be a clincher for Scottish society.

browneyedgirl86 · 18/09/2014 16:47

I agree Sir Chenjin there was a girl on my feed who said "vote yes to get rid of the English scum"

It had 25 likes.

The worst part is she no longer lives in Scotland so isn't even eligible to vote!

I am really shocked at her outburst.

OneNight · 18/09/2014 16:48

Is it possible that they were practising for polling day itself Igneococcus? Many local authorities use helicopters to bring the ballot boxes in for counting.

WildThong · 18/09/2014 16:51

Maybe from the smaller islands OneNight it's possible, it was more than one helicopter and big ones.
