dailygrowl do please nick it, but I'm sure it's not original Grin

cf P G Wodehouse: 'It is never difficult to distinguish between a Scotsman with a grievance and a ray of sunshine ..... '

and I say this married to a very sunny Scotsman Wink

Figster · 18/09/2014 12:21

Haven't commented on the threads as yet I am a Scot living in England have been dipping into the threads last few weeks.

Have to say I am really enjoying the media blackout there is today as the coverage has been getting quite ridiculous over the past week.

I know my family and friends at home will be outvoting today.

I have a nervous feeling in my stomach tight ball of nerves that's been Getting worse all day. I seriously do not see how I am going to sleep tonightSmile

I hope whatever happens it is taken graciously and without troubles.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 18/09/2014 12:21

but Tension that's nonsensical - if it's a Yes, and I voted No, I won't be living in the country I want to live in. Plus DH's job will go south. So please don't try to use emotional blackmail and say our vote isn't as valid

Fontella · 18/09/2014 12:23

I saw a tweet yesterday that made me laugh ...

Votin No cos ma auld granny told me ne'er troost a man wi a name made up o Salmon and Almond

Grin
NeedaDiscoNap · 18/09/2014 12:23

squoosh those women look so uncomfortable! Yeuch!

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 12:24

I'm sitting here absolutely disgusted at some of the things on Andy Murrays twitter because he has says he is supporting yes. People openly saying they wished he had died at Dunblane....if that is Britishness you can keep it.

SapphireMoon · 18/09/2014 12:24

This affects all of us in Great Britain/ UK [as it stands today].
It pisses me right off when told consequences of this decision only relevant to the Scottish in Scotland.
The repercussions of the referendum [either way- yes or no] is relevant to all in England, Wales and Northern Ireland NOT just Scotland.
The consequences will affect us all.

ChelsyHandy · 18/09/2014 12:26

Tension IMO the opinion of those who have a vote and will still be here once the dusts settles, matters more.

I've tried reading that a few times, and I can't get beyond a feeling of ethnic cleansing.

livingzuid · 18/09/2014 12:26

Of course there is a good reason to stay in the UK. I'm bloody British!

Let this end soon can the hours crawl along any slower?

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 18/09/2014 12:27

justiceofthepeas - unfortunately it's not only 6 year olds who are so easily swayed :(

squoosh · 18/09/2014 12:28

I saw that tweet and it is completely vile. However, it's utterly unfair to say that that is Britishness. One tweet from some sad freak sitting in his mother's spare bedroom is not the voice of a nation. And you know it.

Do you think if Andy had come out and said 'Let's stay together UK' he wouldn't have received ugly abuse from some similarly sad little person on the other side of the debate?

StatisticallyChallenged · 18/09/2014 12:29

Tension those of us who have said we will be leaving are mainly leaving because we will have to. Are you really saying that the only people who have a legitimate opinion are those who don't face negative consequences? So your opinion is valid if you think independence will be good or neutral for you, but not if it will be bad? Really?!

BigBoobiedBertha · 18/09/2014 12:30

Good luck Scotland. I can't vote but I don't envy you - you have will have a lot to sort out tomorrow once this is all over, whoever wins. It looks like you are going to end up with the worse case scenario too - only a tiny majority for the winner. It has been fascinating though.

Can I ask what do you all think will happen to our various leaders tomorrow? Will Salmond and Sturgeon have to resign if it is 'no'? Could it go further and cause an early election in WM if it is a yes? Can you even look beyond the end of today at the moment?

Fontella · 18/09/2014 12:33

I'm sitting here absolutely disgusted at some of the things on Andy Murrays twitter because he has says he is supporting yes. People openly saying they wished he had died at Dunblane....if that is Britishness you can keep it.

That's not 'Britishness' .. it's just some dickhead with a twitter account - same as plenty of other dickheads with twitter accounts hurling abuse at each other. There's 60 million Brits apart from those living in Scotland and you are basing your perception of them on what some idiot wrote on twitter. If you look at the original tweet whoever wrote it is practically illiterate - could be someone with MH issues, or someone doing it to stir up just the sort of reaction you are making.

All kinds of nutters come out of the woodwork at times like this and there are disgusting comments both sides of the debate. it isn't the preserve of the 'British'.

Tinkerball · 18/09/2014 12:33

Squoosh it's just how I'm feeling ( I have connections to the Dunblane tragedy) can't help it....just had my fill of anti-Scottish comments comments over the lady wee while and that's just put the tin lid on it, truly disgusted.

Btw I forgot to say that I believe you about what Ewan Morrison aid to you Wink

dailygrowl · 18/09/2014 12:33

Exactly, wigglybeezer - they sold all their stuff to foreigners! Although I think Sony & Samsung probably made more money from selling tvs than JLB himself did - but the point is, at least he invented it in the first place Grin . Just got to get the politicians to make tax laws favourable so that the modern day Carnegies stay behind in Scotland and keep their money in the country rather than elsewhere.

DaughterDilemma · 18/09/2014 12:34

Bertha it will be business as usual if it's no after tomorrow.

They will all go back to their day jobs, over time Westminster might consider discussing any changes they said they were going to make but my guess is they will take their time. If it's a no it will be same old same old, Clegg, Cameron and a general election in May.

EarthWindFire · 18/09/2014 12:34

I find it equally ridiculous listening to people barracking those who indulge in that, while stating they'll bugger off themselves after the vote is in, because the vote isn't what they want it to be.

I don't want to 'bugger off' as you condisenly put it, but we will have no choice due to DPs work,

BettyFlour · 18/09/2014 12:38

Will be a long day and night. I truly hope I wake in the morning (thats if I sleep) to find Scotland is still very much a part of the UK.

I totally agree

Roseformeplease · 18/09/2014 12:39

If it is a NO, I will still be British.

I won't be afraid for my future, my pension. We won't have a year of horrendous, nasty and difficult negotiations during which Salmond continues to blame everything on Westminster. I won't have to worry about huge cuts in public services (which are already coming, but will get much, much worse). I won't have to fear for my job. I won't have to worry about uprooting my family. I won't have to get my pitiful little pot of savings out of the country or worry about how I can pay my mortgage.

And I will be bloody proud that Scotland and the people of Scotland chose to stand with their neighbours and spend oil money on ALL the poor and the helpless, to share things that matter.

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 18/09/2014 12:40

Daughter I will be surprised if it is business as usual tomorrow if it's No.

There'll be huge fallout from it politically. Yes, AS and NS will still be elected MSPs, but should they remain as First Minister and Deputy?

I don't know how the SP has it set up, but is it possible to call a snap election?

BardarbungaBardarbing · 18/09/2014 12:41

I will feel compelled to "bugger off" as Salmond thinks Scottish taxes are for Scottish people, like in a family. My elderly relatives are in Manchester and Birmingham so I have a duty to fund their pensions and care there. (According to Salmond's philosophy, not mine.)

Sadly as I doubt I'll be able to sell my house I'll probably be ruled by the SNP for a while yet.

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 18/09/2014 12:42

All the threats of death/violence have been utterly disgusting but bringing Dunblane into it takes a special (in a bad way) sort of unhinged. I hope Andy Murray has his 'ignore the feckers' filter set to maximum.

BardarbungaBardarbing · 18/09/2014 12:42

That was in response to Tension. Thanks for your honesty though I know a lot of people think as you do.

squoosh · 18/09/2014 12:43

Squoosh it's just how I'm feeling ( I have connections to the Dunblane tragedy) can't help it....just had my fill of anti-Scottish comments comments over the lady wee while and that's just put the tin lid on it, truly disgusted.

Well that's fair enough, if you have links to Dunblane I can see you would find it pretty upsetting. There are so many cunts on twitter, on every side. I don't know where their rage comes from. The only thing you can hope for is that they're stupid enough to use their own name and get caught that way.
