I think if it the S&P one I saw it's from February? If so it predates most of the "no currency union" stuff doesn't it? Is there a more recent one?

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 21:35

YES - 49.4%
NO - 50.6%

Holy shit. This is fucking ridiculous. Tenths of a point.

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/09/2014 21:36

x posts - agree with that. I think whichever side wins this is going to be pretty shit.

grovel · 13/09/2014 21:37

No, a whole point!

CoreyTrevorLahey · 13/09/2014 21:37

What brings me down is that there often seems to be a feeling that Scotland never could/should be independent among some no voters. Or that we're just not a good country and bright people here are unusual. Or we're not inquisitive or curious.

I know this isn't how most people feel and this is a general observation, not a reflection on any particular posters. But it makes me feel sad for this country. I had over 500 international students come to the university where I work this past year. One of the most common observations they made was about the friendliness and good humour of Glaswegians (of which I'm one). Lots of them are very fond of this country.

I would, when there is better planning, like to vote Yes with the blessing of other working class women throughout the UK. But right now I'm a no because neither of these things have been achieved.

I am sad, however, that close minded people on both sides have acted in a way that's led to frequent, often global, scorn of a country which I feel is pretty decent overall. Sad

livingzuid · 13/09/2014 21:38

iSalmond.

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 21:38

Even then Grovel. One stingy point.

OneNight · 13/09/2014 21:39

I think whichever side wins this is going to be pretty shit.

Unless all of this is used as a basis for positive action SC. That would be the saving grace.

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 21:39

I feel very similarly, Corey. When it was first mooted I really did think that I would like to vote yes. But the entire campaign, from both sides as you say, has fed into this horrible circle of division and anger.

livingzuid · 13/09/2014 21:40

YES - 49.4%
NO - 50.6%

Divided nation. What has happened Sad that's not a result for anyone to be pleased with.

squoosh · 13/09/2014 21:41

Love the iGadget! At least you didn't post a photo of Alex's wand.

scaevola · 13/09/2014 21:42

BBC on pensions

Pensions accrued in UK and payable before Independence Day will be honoured (possibly via bilateral international agreement, as already applies to pensioners who chose to live overseas). It gets more complicated for thise whose working life straddles independence, as they will have part from one country and part from another.

It'll be (probably?) something for iScotland to sort out as rUK may well transfer annual payment to a future Scottish pensions service who then pay pensioners their combined rUK and iScot pension.

WildThong · 13/09/2014 21:42

I didn't want to steal your thunder squoosh, you have a special file dontcha?

OneNight · 13/09/2014 21:43

Oh it's much much worse than that, scaevola.

WildThong · 13/09/2014 21:43

But there a foodbanks all over the UK. If we stay together and work for change we can help them all!

grovel · 13/09/2014 21:43

CoreyTrevorLahey, great post. We just need to find someone in Scotland, England, Wales, NI to spell out a decent new settlement reasonably acceptable to us all. I think it's possible but bloody hard.

TheBogQueen · 13/09/2014 21:43

As for pensions - I know very few people who even have one.

SantanaLopez · 13/09/2014 21:44

Is it only acceptable in England then?

OneNight · 13/09/2014 21:45

I agree TheBogQueen. That's why people of all persuasions need to set to to work together and hopefully a greater engagement with the political process will encourage just that in the future.

blackcats73 · 13/09/2014 21:45

Serious question. If Scotland votes to leave then it all goes tits up ( obviously it may not ) could there not be a reunification in ten years?

Btw I'm English living in England so no vote .

OneNight · 13/09/2014 21:46

No. It's irrevocable.

TheBogQueen · 13/09/2014 21:46

And how will this change occur? You think ed Miliband is a credible leader? Are the Labour Party even interested in reversing policies around welfare payments? No they are not.
And now the Westminster government is feeling 'comfortable' about charging people who attend A&E.
So how will we 'work together' exactly?

squoosh · 13/09/2014 21:46

Yes wildthong, I'm saving that photo up for an especially important moment!

TheBogQueen · 13/09/2014 21:47

And if course it's not fucking acceptable anywhere.
