I'm in a standoff situation here. I feel the heat and really suffer if a room is too hot, I've opened the window.

Person next to me is claiming they're cold (yet strangely refuses to put more layers on) and getting irate about said window being open and insisting it's shut

AIBU to think people who suffer in the heat should get priority over window openings as you can always add layers but it's not always practical to take them off

Full expecting to be told IABU here!

Hate fuckers who think cos they are hot that trumps the cold people. I agree with pp and would glue the windows shut. My mum used to open the passenger window whilst I was driving and then I couldn't see cos my hair would be plastered to my face! She didn't realise that air con cools the space down. On a motorway you don't get 'fresh' air you get fumes!

I hate people who open windows on the train the minute they trot on, try taking your coat off first. All that happens is Muggins here a few rows back gets blasted with freezing air and friggin pollen so I spend the journey to work cold with my eyes watering even if I've taken anti-histamines.

The worst is people who are hot from walking about so when they come into an office to sit down they feel hot but if they just waited a few minutes they would acclimatise when sitting still like everyone else in the office and be the right temperature. But they don't they rip open the windows because they are hot from running about and it means all the people sitting working become freezing Confused

You would glue the windows shut Fluffy ? So you like sitting in the stinky fug of other people's bodily emissions, with no option of opening a window to let a breeze in, ever and think everyone else who shares an enclosed public space of any type or size with you should tolerate that too? Hmm That is a pretty extreme dislike of fresh air...

Don't start me on the people who jump onto a bus or train all hot and flushed from having run to catch it, and then just fling a window wide open freezing all the other people sitting around.

Likewise I have worked with people who arrive into work before everyone else and go around opening all the windows so that the place is like Siberia by the time everyone else gets in.

Person next to me is claiming they're cold (yet strangely refuses to put more layers on)

Does she even have any extra layers with her? She might have come in to work dressed appropriately for what she thought would be a comfortable working temperature not realising that you would want to fling open the windows and she would end up sitting in a draught.

I think YABU

combust22 · 15/09/2014 16:34

Many people who feel the heat are carrying extra layers under their skin.

Charliebitmyfinger · 15/09/2014 16:59

Combust22 I am 81/2 stone and I feel the heat Confused but you can turn that round and say that many people who always feel cold do not have enough layers of skin. My DH's aunt used to count every calorie, v. Thin obsessive re food. She complained about the cold ALL the time even on a warm Summers day...

itsbetterthanabox · 15/09/2014 18:06

I'm cold all the time and I'm fat so that's bullshit.
What I don't like about about people that rip open windows all the time is they seem to think they have 'right' on their side. I accept that people have different temperatures but people who are hot think if you want the windows closed you are some misery guts, kill joy that hates the outside! Nope I'm just cold!
