To wish my friend would stop using the phrase "frig me" all the time?

My friend constantly uses the phrase "frig me". For example if something bad has happened she'll say "frig me that's terrible!"

As I understood it frig means to masturbate and I find her constant usage of "frig me" vulgar.

AIBU?

it is up to you what you find objectionable

i think frig me is delightfully oldschool

DollyMixture99 · 10/09/2014 11:23

YANBU OP - vile word!

someonestolemynick · 10/09/2014 11:23

You need to buy yourself a thicker skin.

Fwiw I don't think it's on to censor other people's speech but then again I don't get the extended outrage over swearing anyway.

Why does it bother you so much?

HighwayDragon · 10/09/2014 11:24

I use frig as a polite version of fuck.

SaucyJack · 10/09/2014 11:26

YANBU. That's cuntingly vile.

neveragainmrsharper · 10/09/2014 11:28

I've never heard 'frig' used to mean masturbate. It has always been used as a politer way to say 'fuck'

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 10/09/2014 11:28

Well, at least she's not yelling FUCKING CUNTBOLLOXSACK every time she slams her finger in a drawer.

BauerTime · 10/09/2014 11:28

Do you think you find it more irritating than offensive though? Her use of frig sounds as though she is trying not to say fuck and is, possibly unintentionally, using a word that is actually no more appropriate. That would irritate me.

I have a friend who calls her lady parts her foo foo and it makes me want to scream.

PiperIsOrange · 10/09/2014 11:28

Same as highwaydragon

ThatSmellsLikePoo · 10/09/2014 11:30

Friggin' fucksteaks that's appalling OP. Would you like a borrow of my smelling salts?

JustAShopGirl · 10/09/2014 11:30

"No I won't, I don't fancy you" every time she says it... my friend used to say "fuck me" for any shock news - I replied as above - took 2 months but she stopped...

Oldraver · 10/09/2014 11:35

I have now got 'Friggin' in the riggin' going around in my head.....

Primadonnagirl · 10/09/2014 11:39

This was mentioned on another thread the other day and I was genuinely surprised...I always felt frig was a less offensive version of fuck ( and am now fretting over what circumstances I may have said it in! Did I say "Frig me, Ma'am when I got my OBE the other week? can't remember.... Grin)

OutsSelf · 10/09/2014 11:39

Frigging was always finger fucking when I was a kid. Perhaps she's a lesbian and doesn't want to be fucked in the classic, piv way? Would fuck me be more acceptable? I have to say if I was to choose between being fucked as a discursive effect (i.e. I'm not talking about my sexual preferences here) I'd rather it was a finger and actually I'd rather be in control of that fucking so maybe masturbation is the way that leaves you with the most kind of agency? Also, maybe she doesn't want to equate her shock with the power of phallus, which would again suggest a finger were a better object.

What I'm saying is she may have massively massively over thought this.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 10/09/2014 11:40

'twas on the good ship venus, by god you should have seen us.........

QueenTilly · 10/09/2014 11:45

YANBU Grin

When people say "fuck me" it's easy to treat it as just an expression of astonishment, totally divorced from its literal sexual invitation. Frig is far rarely used as an all-purpose swearword, so if someone kept saying "frig me", I would think of its literal meaning every time!

bialystockandbloom · 10/09/2014 11:57

DP uses the word to mean a botched or fudged job, DIY or something. Eg the tap's leaking and he'll say "we can frig it" to mean a temporary fix.

Fucking moron and his made-up language Angry

Andrewofgg · 10/09/2014 11:58

Don't be so lazy, frig yourself

RonaldMcDonald · 10/09/2014 12:01

I have a friend who calls her lady parts her foo foo

lady parts........does one mean vulva?

LoonvanBoon · 10/09/2014 12:02

I don't know if YABU or not, OP - but am PMSL at bialy's DP saying "we can frig it" for "fix it".

Can't stop thinking of that stupid Bob the Builder Song now. Can we frig it? Yes, we can!

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 10/09/2014 12:06

I think that is a valid usage, bialystock. A rowing boat is "frig rigged" if you mess around with the standard order of rigging the oars, so there's definitely a general "DIY departing from accepted best practice but kind of works for you" meaning of the word (in fact I suppose that could be applied to the meaning that the OP's concerned about as well...).

madamemuddle · 10/09/2014 12:06

I thought it was masturbate. No, it's not a very nice thing to say. It would grate on me too!

BauerTime · 10/09/2014 12:15

Ronald I have never clarified which bit of her anatomy she is specifically referring to and the instances in which she has used it lead me to think that its not that precise. So im going to go with....she means all of it, not just her vulva.

But I was just waiting for someone to pull me up on the use of the term 'lady parts'.

RonaldMcDonald · 10/09/2014 12:17

you are right maybe she means ovaries

WarblingOyster · 10/09/2014 12:19

What the frig. Frigging hell. Frig a dig.
