He maintains it is more hygienic as he changes the clump of tissue after a few wipes.

I maintain it is inefficient, doesn't remove grime, is wasteful of toilet paper and leaves a tissue paper fuzz over everything.

He says using hot water and a cloth (plus cleaning stuff) is far less effective and unhygienic...

Once the applause for him cleaning the bathroom in the first place has died down, we need some external arbitration!

How about disposable bathroom cleaning wipes? That way, you both meet in the middle as it were. Although the bath / shower will still need a proper clean as the wipes aren't enough, I find.

You're both being unreasonable Only saying that because I've never worked out how to clean with a cloth without it being disgusting about halfway through so I clean with antibac wipes on outside of toilet, floor etc and a sponge with hot water (and cleaner) on the 'drainable' bits like sink, shower etc.

Loo roll is ok for a quick wipe, especially of the toilet if he's peed on the seat.

For the proper clean I'm with you. If he has to use paper, kitchen roll works better and less paper fuzz.

Ps YANBU. Toilet paper wouldn't be as effective (not tough enough for a thorough wiping over), will leave bits of paper everywhere and is expensive.

A bucket of hot water with bleach or disinfectant plus a rinse-clean cloth does the job perfectly.

Toilet paper/paper towel/disposable wipes are all expensive and environmentally unfriendly.

get him to use kitchen roll. Seems like a reasonable compromise. Other than that you do it your way andhe can do it his way.

If you use special wipes don't flush then.

I use the back of a washing up sponge and chucks it away after use.

A clean cloth , hot water and whatever product you use is best.
Baths and shower are best swished out thoroughly after using whatever cloth and cleaner, anyway, using the shower hose.

Eurgh, bathroom cloths are vile. I allow a washing up sponge to scrub bath and to wipe shower and sink. Anything that has touched the toilet must be disposed of immediately. I use anti bac toilet wipes.

You're right tho, toilet roll is not good enough and so wasteful.

Why would a cleaning cloth get disgusting halfway through? You rinse it.

PS, I hope ifyou use a cloth you Jeep one for the toilet and one for everything else.

You need 2 cloths to clean a bathroom... One to wash down and one to dry/buff to a shine after rinsing with the shower hose.

I tried using a cloth at one point but between my long hairs left everywhere, layers of dust magicking up from nowhere, cobwebs under the loo, dh's ridiculously bad toilet aim and dh and dd never learning how to rinse toothpaste bits etc away the cloth really was un-rinsable halfway through.

How are cloths vile? You have one colour for bathrooms and wash them after use... vile toilets... disgusting cloths half way through....how dirty are some of your bathrooms?

Xmas, the trick is to hoover the bathroom first . Picks up all the hair/dust/dry muck.

Fwiw, I wipe down with the disposables first (to remove the unmentionables) then clean with cloths, hot water and many products

Don't worry about how he does it; look at how clean it is afterwards. If everything is covered in toilet roll fuzz and it doesn't look or smell clean, then whatever he's doing isn't working, is it?

Yabu I use toilet tissue and it works fine. I spray with bathroom cleaner and wipe with toilet tissue. If he's not using any kind of cleaner then I agree his method is rubbish.

But...toilet tissue just disintegrates on contact with water! How can you get a decent clean with that?

I use baby wipes to go over really grimey or germy areas (ie. toilet) first, then a microfiber cloth plus bleach spray.

Cloths are colour coded so (red) ones for toilet never get used for anything else.

This is the sort of antic people get up to when they want to be told not to do the cleaning any more.

Cleaning a bathroom with toilet-paper? I've never heard of anything so idiotic!

I use toilet paper and anti bac spray for a quick clean of the toilet (ds1 doesn't have great aim).

For a proper clean in use anti bac wipes for the toilet, the floor gets swept and mopped, for the sink/bath/tiles I use a bathroom foam and non-scratch sponge scourer.

Tissue is useless for cleaning properly as it falls to bits then blocks the plug.
