AIBU?

to think beards and moustaches on men are generally very unattractive and probably unhygenic too?

I really can't stand beards and moustaches on guys, especially the bushy kind, especially when not a very nice colour and especially when on men with a lesser than average amount of hair on the top of their head.... Yuck!

They seem increasingly popular, especially with 20-30 somethings, though. Unfathomable to me. Am I alone in thinking this way? Too old? Too prudish? A bit of designer stubble is the most I can tolerate, but hate how spiky it feels on DH.

Septbaby - a beard that requires all that looking after and potion-ery surely defeats the purpose of saving time and effort by not shaving though....? Smile

Valerie, a hairy man is one thing. A hairy face is another.... Smile

The hairy face should come naturally with the true hairy man Grin

Sean Bean, for example. Hairy, but controllable hairy. Looks good clean shaven, but looks utterly delicious with a beard

I fancy the frilly knickers off Sean Bean. Used to watch whatever it was - Sharpe?- at my great-gran's when I was about 12. She fancied him too, the saucy thing.

But I digress Grin

Oh God, now Sean Bean is on the beard thread! This is a good thread!

Too hazardous to fancy Sean Bean, one minute you're admiring his scraggy face then next minute he's dead.

lifeafter it's not for time shaving saving (awful pun I apologise) it's a choice to have it, I think secretly he likes to hide his chin (family trait) but he rocks a beard very well!

I honestly thought when I clicked on this that it was actually about women's body/facial whatever hair isn't on your head
Quite surprised that the quite unattractive and probably unhygienic bit hasn't been quoted back about pit/muff hair attitudes etc etc ad nauseum GrinGrinGrin

I do not like clean shaving men at all.

Beards all the way.

I like the way they look on SOME men. Others look wrong.

But, they also are another thing to keep clean yes, some men are great at this and it isn't an issue, others are minging. My ex used to have milk in his as he left for work after eating cereal-ugh!!! And dead skin etc-they need to be cleaned properly.

and they make me want to cross my legs when I see one

Not a beard fan at all. Every man and has dog has a beard and a sleeve tattoo here at the moment, it just screams fashion victim to me.

YABVU.

Beards are wonderful! My partner would look about 12 without his...

I think unless your name is either tom selleck or will smith then a solo moustache is xa no go. I feel they are more aceptable when paired with a beard. And i think mitchell from modern family looks rather dashing with his.

I was emphatically in the "no facial hair" camp all my dating life until I met my DH - who has a beard of course. I can't explain it, but it looks insanely attractive on him. It's a short, very close clipped beard - no bushy hair/crazy sideburns going on. In fact, he shaved it off a few years ago for a change and I couldn't stand his clean shaven face. He's in his thirties but he looked about 17 without his beard, it was so disconcerting to wake up every morning and look over at this "teenager" in my bed!

DH washes all the bloody time, but when he had a beard - and it looked fab -it smelt of sick.

Now he's just Mr Stubble instead.

YABU they're well sexy. DH has (a short) on and looks weird without. Also with Pandora on the very definite benefits!

They never did it for me until I got older. Now I really like short goatie/tash combos, especially on Caribbean men.

I think moustaches make men look like a porn star or Super Mario.
