Evening all :)

If you have to resort to patronising and being sarcastic to 'win' your arguments it doesn't say much for the strength of your arguments does it?

I studied Economics for 4 years and got very high marks so I'm guessing I probably know more about economic theory than most.

The UK economy is nothing to be proud of. We have high unemployment, low growth, a house price bubble, a huge gap between rich and poor, a regressive tax system, a falling credit rating, a falling currency, increased borrowing and debt, low exports, stagnate manufacturing and are barely out of a double dip recession with the slowest recovery ever.

That is no success story.

5 million is a normal sized country.

Countries the size of Scotland are more efficient to run and have better economies than the UK.

weatherall There have been four threads containing banter/discussion/analysis from both 'sides' in equal measure. Only one or two posters have used disagreeable language, yourself being one of them. The points you are trying to make do not stand up therefore you cry "bullys".
Pathetic.
I feel that there are some true colours starting to be shown now. After all this discussion Fanny in which you have played a full part, you can still throw these random generalisations around about the No voters on here.

I see another thread has sprung up in Chat with much of the same recycled Yes misinformation and spin.

weatherall · 03/09/2014 15:02

Ok the no camp are back to calling yes voters stupid again.

Numanoid · 03/09/2014 15:03

I don't think you're selfish Santana, when people have genuine concerns for voting either way it's fair enough.

Numanoid · 03/09/2014 15:05

This thread is moving too fast for me to keep up and do work.

Statistically you post opinions as if they are facts and call facts which support the yes vote opinions.

SantanaLopez · 03/09/2014 15:06

The UK economy is nothing to be proud of.

Ranked 9th in the world. Up from tenth this year too.

All of your complaints will be found in an independent Scotland.

No it was better together that called themselves project fear. It's hard at work on here.

AFewFallenLeaves · 03/09/2014 15:09

Numanoid, here on my death bed I leave you my best wishes, you were a very pleasant No voter..

WhatWouldFreddieDo · 03/09/2014 15:09

I think the paranoia is getting the better of some people. I'm not a BT member, just an individual No voter with questions that never seem to be taken seriously by anyone on the Yes side.

And you don't seem able to allay any of those fears.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/09/2014 15:11

Yes, sure I do. You'll notice I preface a lot of what I say with "I think" and "in my opinion" - that's because I'm not calling them facts. However, I actually think engaging with you is absolutely pointless so I'm not going to bother. You've been nothing but rude throughout these threads and then cried bullying when people disagree with you.

As for "We are in a better position than any country ever to go Independent" - what apart from half of the country not wanting it? That's a great basis for a new country.

AFewFallenLeaves · 03/09/2014 15:11

Sorry Numanoid - should have read YES voter!

AFewFallenLeaves · 03/09/2014 15:12

Surely this thread must die now?

weatherall · 03/09/2014 15:12

4 of that top 10 are scotland sized European countries. I would expect an independent Scotland to join that top 10.

Can you not find a better source to quote from than the heavily biased towards No BBC? Or is that all you read?

SantanaLopez · 03/09/2014 15:14

Nah, there's a sort of life cycle on these threads.

  1. We all get along for a bit, arguing nicely.

  2. Someone throws the toys out of the pram.

  3. Everyone else goes 'eh'?

  4. Someone posts a funny/ naked link.

  5. Someone raises a serious point.

...... Nice argument, bad argument, fall out etc.

SantanaLopez · 03/09/2014 15:17

Oh give it a break weatherall. Scotland is not going to turn into Switzerland in the next 25 years at least and probably never.

The BBC is a reputable news source. I didn't even link an article about independence.

Actually I read lots of big hard books. Today I read the Hungry Caterpillar (he was very hungry) and then I read A Bear Hunt. Gosh that was a difficult one. Got there in the end though!

OP posts:
weatherall · 03/09/2014 15:18

I have said people are behaving like bullies when they call yes voters "stupid" "feckless" "ignorant" "rabid" "work shy" "lazy" "scroungers" which have all been used by no campaigners on these threads.

I've not seen any yes voters call the Nos names like that on any of these threads. If there are examples, link to them and I'll concede that there has been ill will on both sides, but from what I've seen it has been one sided.

weatherall · 03/09/2014 15:22

"The BBC is a reputable news source" now I can't take you seriously at all.

Supporting no is one thing but to argue that the BBC is impartial- you lose all credibility now.
