To think that the media is really irresponsible to publish pictures of D and DOC at a train station in this climate?

Firstly I am anti-royal so I have to be honest, generally I couldn't give a monkey's about their 'privacy'. I just think it's stupid to print them when we are on high alert. Train stations are massive targets anyway, but stuff like this just makes them even bigger. I am right in thinking it shows complete disregard for public safety and National security. Let's be honest the first hint of trouble the royals will be whisked off out of danger, whilst we plebs are blown to kingdom come.

After the London bombings of 2005 a friend of a friend started a website that asked people to send in a photo of themselves holding up a piece of paper saying 'We're not afraid'. Some of these people also accompanied this paper with a cup of tea or with a v-sign depending on how feisty they were feeling. This website ended up with hundreds of thousands of pictures on it.

We could do witha bit of that spirirt now...

Nope Charles did not attempt to assassinate my dad. He did spit gum out and put it straight in his pocket without wrapping it in a tissue, or hanky though

Was that before he shook hands with your Dad? And, if so, did he spit it in to the hand he shook your Dad's with? Ew!

Is Norfolk being bombed? First I've heard about it, (mind you I imagine the reaction here would be 'terrorist? - What are yew loike my man' Grin)

Surely the whole point of terrorism is to stop people doing their everyday activities through fear, that's why you don't stop what you are doing, just be vigilant, sensible, co operative with any security measures and put your faith in the anti terror tactics employed. You can't hide inside forever.

has world world three started without any of us being told?!

FrenchJunebug · 02/09/2014 14:07

World war obviously!

My Grandma knew the old Duke of Gloucester during the 2WW. She slid on tin trays with him at Catterick Barracks and rode dustbin lids dragged by a land rover. (misses point completely)

Tbh I think it's just because you don't like the royal family. I'm not being funny here, just honest.

But give them a break, they didn't ask for any of this shit.

I'm not a royalist, more of a realist. The young princes are popular. They're also - refreshingly - fairly sane. Also, the royal family cost each one of us about 5p each a year (true fact, it really is peanuts). And bring in, collectively, more than they cost (though I suspect Andrew probably pulls that down a bit, but there's always one isn't there?).

On balance, I really don't see a problem. Would you volunteer for it? And I mean anyone here, not singling out OP. Yeah interesting lifestyle, but massive downside. I'm ok thanks.

Do you honestly think they stayed there until the pictures were published, get a grip woman, you could get run over by a bus!

PistolWhipped · 02/09/2014 21:35

I'd do Wills with Harry watching.

SlatternLovesLots · 02/09/2014 22:00

I spoke to Prince Charles a few months ago and I live in NI. I'm a goner for sure.

Also Grin at Pistol for lowering the tone nicely.

I remember that, I think that was the first thing I heard of going 'viral'.

They use the train all the time to Norfolk and back. I've been on it twice when the Queen's been on it , they just use one whole carriage . I was on it last week when Kate was on it going up to Norfolk , when they just sat in a four with their protection officers , and I was fast asleep 3 seats behind - well I had just finished night duty ! It was only when I opened a bleary eye to get off and thought 'don't I know you ? ' and smiled at her in that 'I think I know you ' kind of way , then got off and thought "you fool, that's the duchess of Cambridge " that I realised.

If we're going to get attacked by terrorists , a few pictures of Will and Kate at a London terminus aren't going to make it a bigger target than it was before .

CarmineRose1978 · 03/09/2014 09:45

I live really close to the RAF airfield where Air Force One will be landing, and where Obama will transfer to a helicopter to get to Cardiff. There were police and crash barriers all over the place when I came past yesterday. It didn't even occur to me that there might be a terror threat to me... I'm either really naive or really sanguine!

WowserBowser · 03/09/2014 10:04

I don't have any feelings on The Royals using a train -

But i did enjoy BOF's joke!
