She took Iain's ice cream out of the freezer did she not?!

OP posts:
2rebecca · 28/08/2014 18:14

So Iain had as much right to put his ice cream in that freezer as Diana had as they hadn't been allocated freezers and Diana just removed it to put hers in. Why didn't Sue Perkins step in and tell Diana that freezers were for sharing rather than get out her stop watch? I find it hard to believe that the BBC had that much difficulty getting 5 functioning freezers though so they all had enough space. If there still was one with space Diana should have been directed to use that as the last one or the BBC look as though they are playing musical chairs with the last finisher left with nowhere to put their ice cream..

GimmeMySquash · 28/08/2014 18:19

I did notice the Scottish chap was using a deep freeze instead of the normal top of a smeg fridge freezer. Goodness knows what was going on there. If Diana knew there was an issue with the freezers why did she think it was odd he was putting his stuff in her freezer?

Also Sue said it was out for 40 seconds yet the BBC statement in the DM article says it was minutes and that the heat was terrible with ovens going as well.

This seems a bigger mess than the contents of that bin Ian presented to Mary and Paul.

Have you seen this?

"Diana's Bake-Off Exit Annouced".

WellnowImFucked · 28/08/2014 18:25

I'm starting to wonder if it was edited with the fore knowledge that Diana had left.

They didn't want there to be a, I don't know, people wondering if she was there what would have happened so they set out to try to make people want her gone. If that makes any sense. . .

Pipbin · 28/08/2014 18:27

I'm failing to see the 'spoilers' that some people are getting upset about?
No one is saying anything that isn't on the front page of BBC news.
It's not like people are telling you that they are all really ghosts or that there is no fight club.

Postchildrenpregranny · 28/08/2014 18:39

Oh come on .It was out of the freezer for 40 secs according to Sue P .Must gave been well on the way to meltdown before that .I think she just didnt think to put it back .And its only cake, for goodness sake .

2rebecca · 28/08/2014 19:03

It would be "only cake" if you were baking one for your tea. If you go on a televised competition watched by millions for cake baking it becomes much more, and mucking about with another contestants cake much more than my son for instance poking a hole in my cake at home.

ithoughtofitfirst · 28/08/2014 19:23

Lmao 2rebecca so true. Cake becomes slightly less trivial if say.. it's a baking competition.

trufflehunterthebadger · 28/08/2014 19:28

Just watching. Iain made a fundamental error in removing his ice cream from the machine before it was fully churned. Can't understand why he took it out so early. speaks as ex pastry chef who made ice cream & sorbets every day for 4 years

Pliudev · 28/08/2014 19:28

It's interesting that Diana is getting the blame here when, along with Meglet's 7yr old DS, I got the impression that two contestants had taken it out of the freezer. They are now saying it was editing that made it seem that way and the ice cream was only out for 40 seconds and that didn't contribute to it melting. I'm not so sure about that, but what I don't see is why they didn't tell Iain he'd put it in the wrong freezer in the first place. And if they took it out in order to make room for their own ice then the time it was in there must have been necessary for the freezing. Why am I concerning myself with this? I don't know!! Interesting that it's been announced that Diana has dropped out through ill health. I'm beginning to wonder if this programme is quite as nice as it seems to be.

Pliudev · 28/08/2014 19:30

Sorry hadn't read the whole thread!

BeyoncesCat · 28/08/2014 19:32

She's left the show!

Catsmamma · 28/08/2014 19:33

i think that Diana left after episode four, for whatever reason, and because

Old Lady finds competition all a bit much is really not much of a headline, and so they have fabricated Alaska-gate, Iain's flounce being the proverbial gift horse on which to hang some shitty editing conspiracy theory.

and his grey icecream would never have set...too much honey.

ithoughtofitfirst · 28/08/2014 19:34

40 seconds is too round a number for my liking Grin

trufflehunterthebadger · 28/08/2014 19:36

Just seen the melted ice cream - it was split and would never, ever have set or frozen.

The other things he made were ok, he could have stayed if he had not thrown a toddler strop. Stupid behaviour

trufflehunterthebadger · 28/08/2014 19:37

What my mother would describe as cutting off ones nose to spite ones face

AFewFallenLeaves · 28/08/2014 19:48

Combined with comments to Guardian I suspect Iain is a bit of a diva.

ithoughtofitfirst · 28/08/2014 19:53

Whatever you guys. Team Iain.

Smilesandpiles · 28/08/2014 19:59

Just heard on the news she's walked out of the show. Sad

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 28/08/2014 20:02

Aww I just want to watch some cake without the hoo haa edited/non edited drama - last night's episode made me feel all tense like when I used to watch Cake Boss* for my cake fix.

Smilesandpiles · 28/08/2014 20:03

I did think she was to blame but after reading more and more about it, it's getting clear this is a stitch up by the producers...the editing, the lack of freezers, the blame she's getting, the apparent phone call from Ian warning her of this a couple of days before, on top of the back lash she's getting online...and looking back, it does look as though she wasn't even the one who moved it in the first place...she's walked out saying she feels ill (which I hope isn't the case really) but I don't blame her at all if this is the reason why she's left.

Smilesandpiles · 28/08/2014 20:06

Ah, sorry, it's already upthread.

LEMmingaround · 28/08/2014 20:08

You do realise they are probably actors
