To call the police?

Just received a pornographic photo of my DP with another man. It is fabricated and was sent anonymously.

I know who was behind it. There was some attempt to ruin our weekend from the same person a couple of weeks ago (which we can prove was him) and we ignored it. This has now escalated and is an attempt at our relationship. This comes from a middle aged man with a wife and family and a successful business.

AIBU in calling the police or am I just overreacting and aggravating the situation?

Suppose it's not my problem if his wife finds out. Think I'm just scared of inflaming the situation further.

No word yet from the Police on when they'll be round. In the meantime, I'm on pins.

I feel sorry for his wife and family. what a nasty pice of work.

OP you did the right thing, if police don't turn up soon give 101 another call to double check.

That's horrid Downstairs. Glad you got some resolution.

We're going to go out for food. Police now said they might not be able to make it tonight and don't want to sit in waiting just in case. They'll ring us if they can make it.
Will keep you posted….

It's really sad that someone would go to that effort. I hope the police will have a word and that will be the end of it. Fingers crossed.

liketohelp · 26/08/2014 20:15

Glad to hear you have contacted the police.

Write down all incidents & continue to keep a log, which should include how you feel about each incident. Keep all evidence.

National Stalking Helpline is on 0808 802 0300, or you can email them. Website is www.stalkinghelpline.org

All the best.

The guy sounds like he needs to get a fucking life. Can't believe people have time to do this sort if shit.

I hope he gets into the shit with the police, vile creature.

I am also ad you contacted the police.

When I was 18 (a very naive 18yr old) someone used to phone the house at times they knew my parents weren't there and other pathetic stuff. When they created an entire comic book (they were a fantastic artistic) about me and posted copies through doors in our village we obviously got the police involved. I hope the police are as supportive to you as they were to me. Legally there was little they could do except warn. It then got nasty but the police instantly waded back in to sort things out.

So even if it doesn't resolve straight away, don't be afraid to go back to the police. Obviously keep evidence and a diary of events.

LiverpoolLou · 26/08/2014 23:09

Bloody hell OP, he's got a screw loose. You are right to involve the police. I hope they take it seriously.

KrevlornswathoftheDeathwokClan · 26/08/2014 23:12

What a tosser. Hope the police get him.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 26/08/2014 23:17

Lordy, hope the police scare the horrid little bully. Ugh.

TrippedIt · 27/08/2014 08:52

Police didn't make it last night. They'll be round tonight between 6.30pm and 10.30pm (after DP gets home from work).

Promise to keep you updated. Thanks for the support and encouragement. Feeling a bit better about it this morning and determined he will get his comeuppance.

Good grief, what ever happened to live and let live!?
I really hope he gets what's due!

Numanoid · 27/08/2014 10:35

I'm glad you've contacted the police, sounds like's completely unhinged. :/

londonrach · 27/08/2014 10:43

Well done op for doing the right thing. X

HappyAgainOneDay · 27/08/2014 12:11

Yes, call the Police. If they remove his computer and investigate what's on it, they might find that you are not the only ones he's persecuting.

TrippedIt · 27/08/2014 18:23

Update….
My DP got a phone call at work today from an associate of the person who sent the photo. He was laughing and asked DP "What did you think of the pictures DP? We all thought they were funny!" My DP could hear the culprit laughing in the background.

We knew where they had come from but now have proof. And he thinks it's funny. My DP has been showing everyone he knows said photo to remove power from this sicko. Strangely no one else can see any humour in sending a fake pornographic image anonymously to a person's spouse. Hmm

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 27/08/2014 18:26

Awful. Did he record it on his phone?

turkeygiblets · 27/08/2014 18:27

Well, more evidence for the police now then. The fact that he has deliberately circulated the photo to others makes the crime even more serious.

TrippedIt · 27/08/2014 18:28

No. There wasn't time but he put the call on speaker and there were other people present who know the people concerned.

OP posts:
eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 27/08/2014 18:29

Jeez. This is seriously odd behaviour. Good luck with the police tonight

WitchWay · 27/08/2014 18:54

This is awful - what a nasty creep

Gruntfuttock · 28/08/2014 13:09

Any update OP?

TrippedIt · 28/08/2014 18:23

Police didn't make it last night either….

Been told they will definitely be here for 6.30 tonight. Keep your fingers crossed! My DP is predictably running late!!!
