English breakfast

The bacon sandwich thread started me thinking.

One poster mentioned the full English breakfast. What do you think this comprises? I do not think it includes baked beans or hash browns because they are an American introduction. For me a full English is fried egg, crisp bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms and possibly some fried slices of leftover boiled potato or what we call scrubble and beak (use your brain for that one).

Now this thread has have me a huge appetite :-)

Full English Breakfast

Bacon
Sausages
Fried egg
Grilled tomatoes seasoned with salt and pepper
Baked beans
Fried bread
Fried mushrooms
(black pudding) but not on my plate.. yuck!

Served with tea or coffee and some hot Door stop toast with butter

Can of Slimfast
Hot water with a slice of lemon

At the moment, I have one Weetabix with one teaspoonful of sugar and enough milk to make it soggy with a bit that has not been absorbed. If it's not that, I have a cupful of porridge made with water and I pour it into a bowl where I've already put one teaspoonful of syrup.

If I have a B&B somewhere, I always have the English breakfast of fried bread, tomato ( which I prefer fried rather than grilled), crisp bacon, and one fried egg with runny yolk to spread on the fried bread.

We had one B&B once when the English breakfast turned out to be one rasher of streaky bacon, one fried egg and a slice of bread that an accompanying friend described as a 'roof tile'!

Black pudding, definitely!
But you can leave the fried bread off mine!

No, Frances, you have to have the fried bread to spread the tomato or egg yolk on!

I like the sound of the hot water and lemon slice :-p
