To ask how long you waited to officially announce your pregnancy?

By official i mean where telling anyone not just close family.

I am in the early stages of third pregnancy. We told everyone when i was 8 weeks pregnant the first time and now have a beautiful 3 year old girl.

Second pregnancy only told my mum and hubby and found out at 3 month scan we had lost baby. Am pondering how long to hold off this time am currently 5 weeks

Told the wider world after the 12 wk scan. Only parents & sister (not in laws) knew at about 6 weeks. Would probably do same again. Was too worried about something going wrong and didn't want everyone to know if we had suffered a miscarriage. I didn't mind my parents and sister knowing, so that's why I told them early on,

3rd baby (5th pregnancy, as 2 ended in first tri miscarriages) here for me too - no "big announcement", but told people as I saw them (and did send a few texts / make a few calls to close friends who I wouldn't see) after our 20 week scan. I honestly hate telling people I'm pregnant though - not quite sure why, it just seems like making a fuss, maybe?!

I had a mc in my first pregnancy and then went on to have a lovely pregnancy with DS(5) I wasn't anxious about anything going wrong at all that time.
6 yrs later I am now pregnant with DC2 and have been plagued with anxiety so decided to wait until after my dating scan to tell, I was 12wks3days on scan day and told people immediately.
It sounds a bit 'woo' but I think you know when you feel comfortable telling someone

16wks told family then gradually told everyone else. Was super paranoid.

We told parents at 6 weeks and I had to tell some work colleagues because of the nature of my job. Everyone else was told after 12 week scan.

Thank you, im thinking 16 weeks as i get to hear the heart beat again then. We lost our second at 13 weeks and had i had the scan on the 12th week we wouldn't have known until then so 16 weeks is my new point of relaxing a bit i think.

Having said that i get horrific morning sickness so may be problematic to keep it under wraps!!!

Mum, dad, sis al knew when I found out at 2/3 weeks. In laws, work and everyone else at 14 weeks.

When I was pregnant with DS (who is now 13), all friends and people who drank in the same pub as us knew when I was about 6 weeks. Thats because when we were having our first dating scan (they dont do these anymore) we saw someone we knew in the waiting room and the fucker went and told everyone where he saw us.

With DD who is now 19 months we told family at about 8 weeks and everyone else at 12 weeks

I'm 23 weeks and still haven't made an announcement! My immediate family know and I think word has spread to extended family but I haven't specifically announced it. I had a loss in December and had made the mistake of telling lots of people too early. I've also been suffering quite a bit with this pregnancy, been hospitalised twice, on lots of medication and don't really feel there is much to celebrate or get excited about yet. Maybe I'll tell everyone with a photo once the baby is born!

I had to tell work colleagues early I,m a mental health nurse and I s was /working in dementia care during both pregnancies because of the physical aspect of the job I had to tell colleagues when I found out so told everyone when I was about five/six weeks .

As soon as the piss was dry on the sticks

DW wanted to keep it to herself (at work) until after 12 week scan but her boss (a lovely, sympathetic, supportive father of three) guessed at 8 weeks, challenged her (in a good way, out of earshot of anyone else) - and then kept her secret.

We told close rellies (her DPs, my DM and DSF, our siblings) immediately the Line on the Stick, like the man from Del Monte, said Yes!

We're waiting until 12 weeks (9 at the moment) although I was hospitalised at 7 weeks so had to tell a few people then.

Need to know basis with both DC's. Mum / Dad / Sister as soon as I found out.

Gym teachers at 6 weeks.

Work by 8 weeks (I was sick and off work).

Then general friends and family after the 12 week scan.

I did have an early miscarriage at 6 weeks in between the dc's. I hadn't told work and eventually miscarried in the work toilets, I never said anything and just went back to my desk. I should have told them because they would have been lovely to me.

After 20 week scan both times - would have kept it a secret longer if it had been possible! I too had had miscarriages and wanted to see sure all was well.

I haven't been pregnant but I think I would tell everyone straight away. I have been trying for so long which they all know so would be happy, plus if the worst happened I would rather people knew why I was really upset and couldn't go to work etc than just start gossiping about why.

I was 5 weeks (had known about a week) when I told everyone. I'm rubbish at secrets. I was a lone parent, and was dreading the gossip so just wanted it over and done with.

First 12 wks subsequent pregnancies about 7/8wks as people at worked asked me as I was huge

27 weeks. Only a couple of very close friends and immediate family knew (from 14 weeks). People were shocked. We live in a different country so was easy to hide.

Told close family after my 12 week scan. Everyone else wasn't told until about 6 months. Was easy as I had no bump!

Told my mum at 12 weeks. Didn't tell anyone else until 20 weeks (after 20 week scan), due to us being a bit older and it being IVF (though no one knew that). We lost a few friends over that. Sad really. Do what you think is right. We didn't tell people, as we felt the fewer people that knew, if something went wrong, was best for us.
