To love this buggy!

DH got a delivery this morning....

My DD2 is a nightmare. She screams and cries if I put her in the pram, she's impossible to pacify in a restaurant or shopping etc...

So DH says this is the solution.

She's been quiet for 15 minutes!!!! Shock

To love this buggy!

Nick - my daughter is brilliant because she couldn't move until gone 2 so we had to help ease her frustrations by reading to her and playing with her constantly... The iPad taught her a lot. But that's not all of her achievements.

Georgie, I'd like the buggy/Ipad if I was going to Florida and doing the parks.

You do like a controversial AIBU, don't you Grin

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:15

I do Wink

(Just a joke, don't kill me!)

Curious, can I also say that whilst I'm sure your daughter is bright it's just as likely that she is no brighter or less then our children are. She isn't a one off.

Deverethemuzzler · 23/08/2014 14:17

She is humoring you.

You: we have just got a buggy with an ipad so the baby can watch it whilst we are out and about and when she gets bored. Isn't that great!'
OT: um yeah, great, anyway.....

Ipad are great.
Screen time for under 2s not so great.

You can be as snarky and rude as you want. It won't make you right. Who cares anyway?
You wanted to show off your new buggy. You have. You like it. So yay for you.

Nicknacky · 23/08/2014 14:18

I do find it a bit odd that as your daughter detests the buggy so much that you choose a holiday where, errr she has to sit in a buggy for most of it. You can't expect her to watch Sofia all the time, surely?

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:18

Nick - she is very very clever. That's a fact. She has the speech and word range of a child double her age, but on the other hand, she walks like bambi and at almost 4 can't jump it climb or get on a chair herself.

The Physio always says to us that it's like her brain was so bored of sitting still, so it worked on other things Smile

OP posts:
curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:19

Nick - why will she be sitting in a buggy all the time? She can go on loads at disneyworld and in other parks... And I'll want to carry her and show her characters and parades.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 23/08/2014 14:20

Errr you said it earlier!!

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:20

No devere, she wasn't. We've seen her more than once, we know her well. She even recommended some apps for DD1. If you want to discuss this further (as you seem so alarmed by it) then feel free to PM me and I'll give you more details.

It's not something I'd use. I'm a dichotomy as I allow TV for 7 month old DD and 20 month old DS (DD watching as she is in the same room rather than actively) but we don't allow any ipad or iPhone use at all. They're not even allowed to touch them or laptops.

But, if it works for you, fair play. What would concern me more is how comfy the buggy actually is for long days out and whether it reclines ok for sleeps. I've not looked at the link.

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:21

That's true, I did. She will obviously be in a pram but I was exaggerating my point. It will be a fun holiday for her too, we chose it with both our DD's in mind.

OP posts:
curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:23

Gobbolin - it reclines to almost flat, and has a huge hood..its kind of like a maclaren with a bigger hood.

Deverethemuzzler · 23/08/2014 14:29

Yeah. All the OTS I know really approve of sticking young babies infront of screens.

You are right. I suspect you are always right.

HoldenMcGroin · 23/08/2014 14:31

Hmmmm

The lentil weaving wanky basket in me recoils massively

But I can see why you might want peaceful mealtimes on your hols

not sure why you are so adamant that screentime is beneficial. There was research coming out from Australia at least ten years ago wrt undertwos and concerns around passivity in watching/neural pathway disruption/general child development etc. These ain't new concerns.

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:32

Are you able to read Devere? Or are you intentionally being obtuse?

Our OT did recommend apps for DD1... I don't know why you can't understand that.

Devere Georgie loves a goady thread. Wink

I'm sure there is instances where it can be beneficial to young children but that doesn't mean a blanket "yes it's great". I'm no expert on the subject do the effects on under 2's but can't you acknowledge that it may not be good for young children?

curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:38

Soverylucky - it was when my DD1 was 18 months at an assessment.

OP posts:
curiousgeorgie · 23/08/2014 14:39

Nick - no I can't because I don't agree with that. I think they are beneficial for children.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 23/08/2014 14:42

Really? Why are you so dismissive of the research? I'm talking about under 2's, not older children.

KoalaDownUnder · 23/08/2014 14:42

Why do you think they're beneficial for children under 2, when all the research says otherwise? Confused

KoalaDownUnder · 23/08/2014 14:43

(cross-post Grin)
