To have been on Mumsnet about 8 hours a day for the last week?

Oh god, please give me a kick up the arse.

I've just discovered MN and have spent bloody hours - hours and hours and hours - reading, to the detriment of all other things. Even now, I am supposed to be preparing a nice dinner and getting the house ready as it's my and DH's wedding anniversary. But I'm still in my PJs reading MN Classics. (EKL, Small Fluffy Bundle, The Toy Monkey (sob), Mexican House Thief Shock)

STOP ME PLEASE! (Or point me in the direction of your favourite threads to read later...)

Unfortunately, it is too late for help!

I know exactly what you mean - When I discovered MN, I read right through AIBU from the beginning and lurked on loads of threads!

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/08/2014 14:25

It's Hotel California. Welcome.

ADHDNoodles · 14/08/2014 14:25

Don't worry, the novelty will wear off and you'll get bored and see all the funny patterns threads take.

honeybeeridiculous · 14/08/2014 14:25

I know what you mean cabbage
I used to always have a book in my hand pre MN, but I've not read a book in ages. Iv got a new book waiting to be read but when I've got 5 minutes to sit down, I think oh I will just have a quick look at MN, and an hour later I'm still there
I'm doing it now!!
It's very addictive, I need to stop Hmm

halfdrunkcoffee · 14/08/2014 14:29

I'm terrible for always browsing MN (I often lurk) as sometimes I get bored at home or need to read some adult conversation.

Classics is great!

GoringBit · 14/08/2014 14:32

Anything in Classics is worth reading, but I particularly recommend 'Well. That went well...' for laughs and 'Drug dependant baby', because it's possibly the most moving thing I have ever read.

Oh thanks Goring - I read "Well that went well" and loved it. Will read "Drug dependant baby" when I have time right now although given the sobbing that the toy monkey story induced last night, I may have to wait till after AF - so hormonal!

I haven't read toy monkey, but will make a beeline for it now. 'Drug dependant baby' is a thing of beauty, but you'll need tissues and a hug.

AmyMumsnet · 14/08/2014 14:48

Story of my life! Grin.

spongebob5 · 14/08/2014 15:05

Me too! On a weeks holiday, it's gone 3 & I'm still in my pyjamas reading MN! I will look up Toy monkey in classics, I've read Mexican house thief & the thread about the lady caring for the drug addicted baby :( previously

spongebob5 · 14/08/2014 15:06

I should be ironing & running on my treadmill - not at the same time obvs

EmberElftree · 14/08/2014 15:34

Me to Cabbage et al I came to MN when we started ttc and became addicted. I'd never even heard of it before but stumbled across it while
searching google maniacally researching ttc & pregnancy tips.

Even now, i've just managed to nip up and prepare dinner before DH gets home from gym so it looks like I've been busy

EElisavetaofBelsornia · 14/08/2014 16:02

I discovered MN in late pregnancy, it was great for those long night feeds!

ICanSeeTheSun · 14/08/2014 16:05

I would like to thank the mobile side of it going down, because through gritted teeth and loads of painkiller my house is clean.

MN is way to addictive

CoolCat2014 · 14/08/2014 16:37

Me too. I blame being pregnant and on maternity leave with bad hip pain and insomnia though... Not much else I can do right now :(

mosaicone · 14/08/2014 16:37

OMG . I am in Spain, Im sweltering, the lap top on my lap is making me hotter but I am just stuck here and I didnt know Classics existed but am off there immediately. We are supposed to be going for cocktails at 6, thats 23 minutes to get ready..... ummmmmm.

Pandora37 · 14/08/2014 18:19

Haha I'm glad I'm not alone! I ended up here because another forum I'm on were taking the piss out of Mumsnet and linked to the penis beaker thread to prove how "mad" you all are. I read it all the way through, nearly wet myself laughing and thought these people are great! Then I found the mental health board and thought it looked really helpful. Then I started reading chat, then TV addicts, then the history page.....even though I'm not in Mumsnet's target demographic (no children and single) I thought oh sod it, this site is fun, I'm joining. I've now lost hours of my life reading about the EKL and the Mexican House Thief when I am supposed to be doing work. Oops. Grin

namechangeno1 · 14/08/2014 19:58

Same here but this is the first time I have dared to admit it! I would hate to see the actual amount of time I am on MN when I should be doing other things Blush

When DH calls (he works away some evenings) and asks the kids what I'm up to, they just automatically say I'm on MN!!
