Regarding a grown woman who constantly refers to herself as a "Princess"?

A few months ago a girl I was at school with added me on Facebook. All well and good, but whenever she updates her status she says things like "I'm a tired Princess today" or "Princess can't wait to go shopping with mummy" or "Poorly Princess". We're both 32 years of age.

Is it me just me or is it fucking bizarre? Today she's posted saying "Five days till my holidays. Excited Princess!"

As far as I'm aware she's not a Princess or in any way affiliated with royalty!

She's always been very, very girly. Has a love of pink and such, but to be honest so are a lot other women I know. They don't go around referring to themselves as Princesses.

I've not hidden her statuses as I far them so ludicrous. She's deadly serious as far I can see.

Does she have some kind of personality disorder?

Still Yeah me too , a perm; the first one was fab, the subsequent ones not so fabulous, poodle springs to mind! Grin

HalfEatenPizza · 11/08/2014 16:56

The question here is 'but WHY does it bother you?'

hamptoncourt · 11/08/2014 17:00

Oh this sort of thing makes me nauseous!

TheFantasticFixit · 11/08/2014 17:01

I know someone who is all into that 'love light magic' shite who refers to herself as a Princess. We've just endured (i know, i know) 18 months of her wedding planning/wedding/post wedding 'magic' and now she is pregnant it is UTTER HELL on her status updates.. Daily updates on on the growth and magic she is creating as a 'wifey' and mother as her 'Princess Bean' grows magically strong.

It makes me want to chew my head off.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 11/08/2014 17:07

You see this is why I avoid face ache....

OnlyLovers · 11/08/2014 17:08

Fucking weird, and not a little creepy.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/08/2014 17:12

Old work acquaintance refers to herself on facebook in the same way, e.g. "breakfast in bed! I'm the luckiest little princess in the world!" without a hint of irony. Makes everyone reach for the gin I can tell you.

Stratter5 · 11/08/2014 17:14

Have we found out what 'boy food' is?

ADHDNoodles · 11/08/2014 17:15

Have we found out what 'boy food' is?

I know man food is steak and bacon. Grin

Stratter5 · 11/08/2014 17:17

Possibly those little bacon wrapped sausages then

IcedBirthdayCake · 11/08/2014 17:18

I'm so glad others agree with me, people always seem to like her statuses and comment on them. I think they make her sound like a silly egotistical cow.

What can I say about her? She's very blond, always tanned and likes her designer clothes and make up. She's pretty, but she doesn't seem to be able to keep a boyfriend. I know this because when she's not referring to herself as a "a Princess" she's moaning about her love life and how she has a bad track record with men. I can't say I'm all that surprised as she's probably quite high maintenance. When we were at school she was very precious and used to cry a lot when things didn't go her way.

Like a PP I wondered if she was referring to a daughter?

Otherwise she sounds like the demented Drusilla from Buffy. "Kill her for Princess!"

IsabellaRoarsome · 11/08/2014 17:19

My sil does this! She also collects Disney princess dolls and is generally disney crazy! My sister mentioned on fb that she may get dd a palace pet for Christmas and she commented something along the lines of 'oh my gosh! I love them! Do you love them too?! I have Ariel's one from build a bear workshop!!!' .... I want to slap my brother for even entertaining this shit Confused

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 11/08/2014 17:19

She sounds needy.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/08/2014 17:21

I would be so tempted to post, "aww - poor pwincess - diddums!' - and the defriend!

GoblinMarket · 11/08/2014 17:21

hmm she sounds a pita but not keen on women being described as 'very blonde' and 'high maintenance' sounds slightly 'off' tbh

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/08/2014 17:21

Then defriend

Deelish75 · 11/08/2014 17:21

Buy her a frog.

FunLovinBunster · 11/08/2014 17:26

Things that annoy me

  1. Women over the age of ooh 10 that talk in an ickle girly voice.
  2. Women over the age of oooohhh 10 that put little circles or hearts over their 'i's.
  3. Women over the age of 30 who have names that they shorten in a -y. So Sally is fine. But Mandy for Amanda not fine. My SiL is 50. She's so ickle that we all have to call her Mandy. Brings me out in hives.
  4. Women over 40 with long hair. We're women now, we don't need to swish 'n' flounce.
IcedBirthdayCake · 11/08/2014 17:27

No, she's not referring to a daughter. She doesn't have any children yet. I don't think she's obsessed with Disney, although I do have other grown up friends who are obsessed with Frozen, but that's a whole other discussion!

I have an American sister-in-law who does this. She's in her forties, no children of her own, her marriage to BIL is her fourth (possibly fifth). I really like her, we get on well, but this constant reference to being a 'Princess' and pouting when she can't get her own way drives me totally NUTS!!!!
I hate the reference to "Princess" even in little girls, tbh - I NEVER encouraged this with my daughter. Not ever (and positively DIScouraged it if anyone else tried to).

Thurlow · 11/08/2014 17:30

I LOVE people like this on Facebook. Endlessly entertaining.

LadyLemongrab · 11/08/2014 17:32

I know someone like this.

princess's Facebook status the day her boyfriend took her shopping:

"I'm such a lucky princess, daddy took me to build-a-bear so that I've got my very own unicorn it cuddle when he's not here"

Boyfriend. Not father.

She's 28 and quite honestly makes my skin crawl. I keep her very much at arms length.

She also posted a very cleavagey picture, false lashes, pigtails...sucking a dummy.

I think someone may have had a word about that as it apparently disappeared fairly quickly.

She's also a fan of posting soulful looking selfies with captions like "if only you knew the pain behind my baby blue eyes".

You can bugger off, Funlovin. I am keeping my swishy locks because I have a huge fat face that I like to cover like Cousin It .

squoosh · 11/08/2014 17:39

Women who refer to their lover as 'daddy' freak me the fuck out. Don't they just think of their own dad?

Ick.
