Regarding a grown woman who constantly refers to herself as a "Princess"?

A few months ago a girl I was at school with added me on Facebook. All well and good, but whenever she updates her status she says things like "I'm a tired Princess today" or "Princess can't wait to go shopping with mummy" or "Poorly Princess". We're both 32 years of age.

Is it me just me or is it fucking bizarre? Today she's posted saying "Five days till my holidays. Excited Princess!"

As far as I'm aware she's not a Princess or in any way affiliated with royalty!

She's always been very, very girly. Has a love of pink and such, but to be honest so are a lot other women I know. They don't go around referring to themselves as Princesses.

I've not hidden her statuses as I far them so ludicrous. She's deadly serious as far I can see.

Does she have some kind of personality disorder?

I have an old school friend who still talks like a teenager, complete with all the slang we used at school. So she posts status updates not just like a teenager, but a 1980s teenager! It's bewildering! I sometimes wonder if she got stuck in some kind of time-warp. Hmm

RiverTam · 11/08/2014 16:36

are you actually still friends with her? Because if not, I'd be unfriending in a hurry.

Fubsy · 11/08/2014 16:36

Boak.

Oh god - do you think she does the flappy hand crying? That makes me want to saw peoples hands off and I'm pretty laid back.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 11/08/2014 16:37

It's about fucking attention seeking - that's what. We had one in our office till recently. Once we got wise to her and just ignored it, she stated to say - out loud, mind - Oh I've got a little tear!

She was 53.

Heels99 · 11/08/2014 16:37

Don't defined! Is hilarious! That ones a keeper for entertainment value

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 11/08/2014 16:38

Oh that sounds fantastic Annie, I want to friend her.

softlysoftly · 11/08/2014 16:38

Keep her for entertainment value.

The girls thing drives me nuts too, a colleague said to our new director about something in his management style that needed addressing "I know you aren't used to working with us girls but..." I nearly decked her. Angry

KEGirlOnFire · 11/08/2014 16:38

YANBU about the Princess thing, but I'm sorry, I don't see anything wrong with organizing a 'girls night out'.

If I'm going out with a group of friends (age range 21 to 40) I always call it a 'girls night out' not a 'women's night out' or a 'ladies night out'.

I am still a girl, trapped in a 40 year old woman's body... Grin

I was an 80's teenager, I can't remember the slang we used, then again I can't remember what I had for tea last week! Hmm

ADHDNoodles · 11/08/2014 16:40

She's either obnoxious, or she has regression issues. Probably the former.

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 11/08/2014 16:41

Tis a long time since I was a girl.
Would you not just have a night out? Or do you need to specify which gender it is?

Alisvolatpropiis · 11/08/2014 16:41

Amongst friends I/we say girls but in a work capacity I expect to be referred to as a woman.

Though often it's the older women who will refer to women my age as girls, not the men.

ouryve · 11/08/2014 16:42

Either she's incredibly fucking twee or she's one of the Eastenders cast.

squoosh · 11/08/2014 16:42

I like the sound of 80's Teenager! Does she gush over Nik Kershaw and laugh at Noel Edmonds jumpers on Saturday Swap Shop?

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 11/08/2014 16:42

stillstaying that would be because the bleach and hairspray fried our brains.

Cariad007 · 11/08/2014 16:42

I worked with someone like this. Grown woman in her thirties who always had to be the centre of attention and would refer to herself as Princess Twatface (name of my choosing, not hers) in emails and Facebook posts etc. She actually once said "Why is Christmas about Jesus and Santa when they're dead, it should be about MEEEE!" She also loved Disney and had a variety of Disney princess outfits she liked to wear. Once saw a photo of her as some sort of superannuated Snow White and nearly snorts my coffee across my desk.

Itcantbelove · 11/08/2014 16:44

If you have never done online dating, you would be amazed at the number of men who want to treat their 'lady' like a 'princess.' [throw up emoticon]

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 11/08/2014 16:45

StillFrigginRexManningDay Grin yeah, I used Sun-In, , what the fuck was I thinking!

squoosh · 11/08/2014 16:47

OP's pal ready for a casual mid week drink at her local.

Regarding a grown woman who constantly refers to herself as a "Princess"?
lacktoastandtolerance · 11/08/2014 16:47

Start referring to yourself as 'Tunnel'

I have unfollowed the barely tolerable people in my feed, but I leave people like this to show up purely for the entertainment value. She sounds like someone I would not only keep following but subtly (and slightly passive-aggressively) provoke to go further.

YouTheCat · 11/08/2014 16:48

OP, post all her status updates here to entertain us.

She sounds bonkers. Grin

Maisyblue · 11/08/2014 16:49

I've often wondered about the hand flapping thing. Normal people don't do it do they.

StillFrigginRexManningDay · 11/08/2014 16:49

So did I StillStaying. My hair was not sunkissed blonde, it was orange. I had a fluffy orange layered perm. I feel sorry for making my parents be seen with me now.

daisychain01 · 11/08/2014 16:49

Never in a million years would I call myself - or want to be called a Girl in a work situation.

Am I being too harsh by saying this Princess woman is doing her best to turn back the clock 75 years for women?
