To think less of ....

...a restaurant that does not provide a dessert fork with the dessert spoon for pudding / dessert / sweet? It doesn't matter what the pudding is; a fork ought to be there.

No notches, but the canteen does have fish knives. Confused

I think people are being mean to the OP and her lopsided eating. Of course you need a fork in the other hand and not just for balance. I usually find it's handy for defending you pudding against those who said they didn't want one but then want to "try" mine. The bastards.
And of course different meals require different impliments: dessert fork for dessert (It's in the name people!), soup spoon for soup, snail tongs for snails, winklepickers for winkles, etc.

TheBloodManCometh · 11/08/2014 17:40

I personally think less of restaurants that don't provide me with my own dessert Butler who spoons my dessert into my mouth for me, so I don't suffer the indignity of having to mess around with cutlery or risk touching the plate/bowl.

TiggyD · 11/08/2014 18:01

But is it dessert, pudding, the sweet, or afters?

I've noticed that waitrose has it's chocolate in the "confectionary" aisle whereas lower class supermarkets have a "sweets" section.

Haha, you have revealed your true age SFRMD surely no one under 58 knows what tapioca is ......................

unless it has made a sneaky comeback amongst health food fans.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 11/08/2014 18:13

Oh I like tapioca. Be a bugger to eat with a fork.
bran yogurt is NOT pudding.

LilyandGinger · 11/08/2014 19:37

Well Happy I think the real question should be what you use to eat fish? Two forks I presume?

TiggyD · 11/08/2014 19:40

Tapioca has made a comeback. It's the 'bubbles' in bubble tea!

PigeonPie · 11/08/2014 19:44

Tiggy it's pudding here.

TiggyD · 11/08/2014 19:48

It's pudding with me too, but I am upper lower middle class!

LittleBearPad · 11/08/2014 19:51

Pudding is correct. Dessert is as Pigeon described above.

MorphineDreams · 11/08/2014 20:07

My DP records pudding should be called Finisher.

Starter, Main, Finisher.

MorphineDreams · 11/08/2014 20:08

reckons*

SarcyMare · 11/08/2014 22:31

i like finisher.
will be having that course from now on.
but if i remember back
it is soup
fish
game
entree
dessert

SarcyMare · 11/08/2014 22:35

How do you fit a pudding fork and spoon in a ramekin of creme brulee?
creme brulee should be turned out and on a plate, not left in the ramkin.

and i don't know what sort of desserts the restaurant served as i wasn't eating in there.

scottishmummy · 11/08/2014 22:37

I own spoons.i dont have dessert or soup spoons, just spoons.oh and teaspoon
I couldn't differntiate soup spoon from dessert spoon

LittleBearPad · 11/08/2014 22:38

Crime brûlée shouldn't be turned out. The best bit would be on the bottom. The whole point of one is cracking the top with a spoon.

scottishmummy · 11/08/2014 22:40

If we are doing the cutlery thing,i also have knifes, forks.again no different types

CosmicDespot · 11/08/2014 23:02

You can't tuen creme brulee out! Are you thinking of creme caramel?

PigeonPie · 12/08/2014 09:10

But how do you consume soup without a proper soup spoon - they are perfectly shaped for scooping from one side and supping from the other?

HappyAgainOneDay · 12/08/2014 11:00

Sago, anyone?

OP posts:
CosmicDespot · 12/08/2014 13:59

Sago and tapioca are just variations on rice pudding aren't they? Sweet, milky, carb-heavy nursery puddings. Preferably with jam.

HappyAgainOneDay · 12/08/2014 16:05

TiggyD So Waitrose has chocolate in its 'confectionary' aisle, has it? Who will be the first to write a letter to Head Office to get the spelling changed to 'confectionery'?

OP posts:
HappyAgainOneDay · 12/08/2014 19:18

TiggyD

And I wore winklepickers. I ate winkles using a pin.
