I love love love a good storm. DS has slept soundly, the dogs have come into our bed (usually a no no) and have shot under the blankets as far as they can reach. I was sitting by the window watching the whole world light up.

Musicaltheatremum · 18/07/2014 06:41

Daughter in Acton, London. Just seen her tweets from 2.30am commenting on the storm. Sounds horrendous.

MothershipG · 18/07/2014 06:45

I'm a couple of hours from Acton, never seen anything like it!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/07/2014 06:50

I'm Sussex Surrey border it was the biggest storm I've seen in years! So loud and went on forever. Our power only went off once luckily, never seen so much fork lightning Smile

winkywinkola · 18/07/2014 06:51

Am in Bucks, nr Aylesbury. It was a bonkers storm. Those cracks of thunder really scared me! And the lightening was so dramatic.

hels71 · 18/07/2014 06:59

It was impressive in Wiltshire...

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/07/2014 07:00

Its still going for it in Essex, it just hammered down. I loves a storm.

EleanorHandbasket · 18/07/2014 07:01

I'm gutted, I missed it. I only heard the amazing rain at 6am ish.

Artandco · 18/07/2014 07:10

Central London here. We all woke and watched the storm, the kids had midnight feast of breadsticks and milk! (3 and 4 years) It was an amazing storm. Nice and sunny outside now

ProudAS · 18/07/2014 07:12

I'm in the midlands and it was here between 2 and 3am

SaltySeaBird · 18/07/2014 07:14

Did anyone get a storm on the Sussex coast? It's cool this morning but I'll be a bit gutted if I slept through a really big storm!

SpottyTeacakes · 18/07/2014 07:16

Saltysea friends of mine in Chichester had the same almighty storm

CuttedUpPear · 18/07/2014 07:17

I know that I am a pedant but the correct spelling is LIGHTNING.

As you were....no lightning here in the west Sad

FeministStar · 18/07/2014 07:18

We had lightning and thunder but no rain - I went out in the garden at 1/2 5 and the laundry and bird baths were all bone dry.

noblegiraffe · 18/07/2014 07:21

It was all still here, not a breath of wind, then an almighty gust so big it slammed our bedroom door shut, then nothing!

Nearly gave me a heart attack. If I hadn't seen the wind blow the curtains out I'd have thought burglars were in the house.

londonrach · 18/07/2014 07:21

What a stunning storm and doesn't it smell fresh now. Very tried though...

Blondieminx · 18/07/2014 07:25

Tali I'm in North Essex too, that rain was something else wasn't it!

spence24 · 18/07/2014 07:33

It was incredible here in Wiltshire at about 1am. Our stupid youngest cat went out with the first rumble of thunder and we saw her gleefully rolling around on the front lawn in the rain, stopping with every fork to try and find it!

Still too bloody warm this morning though and no sight of a storm having happened! All roads dry and glorious sun!

digerd · 18/07/2014 07:38

S.Herts- just north of London area.
Sun is shining now and is like a tropical jungle atmosphere. Too humid for me already and must go out at 9.30.
Very groggy after the uncomfortable night air.

wigglylines · 18/07/2014 07:38

Saltyseabird we're on the sussex coast. Saw lightening just as i was going to bed sbout 2am. Must have been a massive storm as the sky was lit up above the downs but no thunder claps do not actually anywhere near us

SpottyTeacakes · 18/07/2014 07:39

We've got dd's sports day today...going to be really hot!

wigglylines · 18/07/2014 07:39
