To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

Mamagiraffe · 14/07/2014 13:27

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

Actually, sienna, vodaphone did that to me once. it took me about 3 months to get my phone unblocked. I haven't posted about it anywhere before though. Maybe it happens a lot.

Haha sienna where are you finding this shit!! ShockGrin

differentnameforthis · 16/07/2014 03:16

Well done to CF for doing this, I would definitely go if I was in the UK!

CF are hardly going to post the offer on the fb wall, they'd have all manner of people booking in for their 10% discount...maybe even those who started some of this mess.

GrannyOnTheSchoolRun · 16/07/2014 03:37

As merry mouse said -

I read it as meaning that when you know you are in the right you don't always need an apology - you can just move on.

Yes, and sorry for the confusion. :)

differentnameforthis · 16/07/2014 03:54

What mamagiraffe thought would happen when she started this, I do not know

She probably thought we would all offer our support to their campaign to destroy a business. That is, once we were properly educated on the pros of breastfeeding.

accusing bfing women of being attention-seekers and so on. I have read this whole thread & cannot detect that in any post.

katese11 · 16/07/2014 07:04

Back in Nov 2013 she posted something on her fbook wall that was copied and pasted from my blog (with attribution). I was a little surprised to see it there! Not saying she did anything wrong, it was just a weird coincidence (it was about Katie Hopkins, that's why I thought you might have seen the same thing)

EarthWindFire · 16/07/2014 07:40

Cor not cot

sashh · 16/07/2014 07:58

TwistedReach

If you look at the spa on a map / google earth the car park is not separate to the spa, you have to drive up a long drive/private road to get to it.

Businesses have to have all sorts of paperwork such as fire evacuation plans, health and safety policies, INSURANCE etc etc these would all become invalid once an under 16 was on the premises.

Esmum07 · 16/07/2014 08:00

Sienna - I salute you! You are mega spy.

For those who are still a little confused over the 'law' around BF in public, I use this rule. I FF DS. If I was allowed to feed him with no problem then a BF woman should be able to feed her child. If, as in the case of CF, I would be asked to stop and take DS away THEN A BF WOMAN HAS TO DO THE SAME! BF does not entitle you to feed wherever you want, just in the same places as a FF woman. If it a place that stops people under a certain age being on the premises then it is the age that takes precedence. And please, it is not sex discrimination either. My DH could not take DS to CF and FF him either. It's the baby, not the method of feeding that is the issue. And it this case it wasn't even a baby, it was a fully weaned child. They can cope. If you are exclusively BF then waiting a few months to go on a jolly to a grown up spa isn't a lot to ask.

I have, in the past, cancelled a cafe order because they asked a BF mum to feed in the toilets whilst I could sit at the table with a bottle. So I would stick up for anyone doing something legal.

So rule of thumb for the women who do feed ins or whatever they are called. If I, as aFF mum couldn't do something, neither can you. If I could do it and you are banned, let me know where you are and I would join you.

Of all the things I thought I would google in my life "tie dyed reusable sanitary pads" was not one of them! I am both horrified and in awe- thank you Mumsnet!

Quite, Esmum07.

I once saw a woman get very arsey because she was asked to move from where she was bfing in a National Trust property. The guide was at pains to point out that it wasn't the feeding that was the problem, it was the fact that the woman had plonked herself on a cordoned-off centuries-old sofa !!

GrannyOnTheSchoolRun · 16/07/2014 10:07

The threads have served their purpose loud and clear and all thats happening now is for some of our posters to be making it very obvious they're no different to VL's supporters.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Hahaha. What a twit! Did she use the "but it's my right to breast feed anywhere I want cause it's the law, innit!" Another one who ruins it for the sensible mums.

HaroldLloyd · 16/07/2014 10:17

granny i got it in the end! Thanks

MyFairyKing · 16/07/2014 10:29

I agree with Maryz.

EarthWindFire · 16/07/2014 10:34

Thank you Granny... Understand now Smile

EarthWindFire · 16/07/2014 10:36

Stalking someone across the internet, and cutting and pasting their comments on totally irrelevant sites, is imo a step too far

Valid point.
