To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

Mamagiraffe · 14/07/2014 13:27

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

Good post seagull. I agree that it's perhaps not the place of MNers to fight this battle any more. But I sincerely hope that CF, while maintaining a dignified public silence, are quietly exploring whether there is action they can take against this woman regarding her very public attempts to discredit them.

Staywithme · 15/07/2014 18:53

As to posting breast feeding pics on a facebook page that caters to adults only, catch a grip!

pinksquidgy · 15/07/2014 18:53

Haha at Maldives

LoxleyBarrett · 15/07/2014 18:56

There are no undertones of "urgh bitty" pinksquidgy stop finding offence where there is none.

A great many of us have breastfed for a year or more - we just have no reason to make complete arses of ourselves at the same time.

Staywithme · 15/07/2014 18:58

If the woman has taken down her posts and retracted her accusations, while also apologising, then I think CFs should just leave it. Whilst I think she's a silly bint, I don think anything would be achieved by suing her and financially punishing her would, in turn, punish the children. Let's be honest, they've enough to contend with her being their mum. Poor kids. I'm cringing for them.

m0therofdragons · 15/07/2014 18:58

Is it wrong that I'm reading this thinking fab, cf is the perfect place to go to truly get away from kids?

Ps. Love my kids, bf them all, in cafes etc but sometimes, just sometimes, isn't it nice to be child free?

TwistedReach · 15/07/2014 18:59

Stay- i don't know about the law on this but can't believe they wouldn't let her feed in the car- would they really know that that had any possible legal repercussions (if indeed that is true)?
I still think it sounds mean.

seagull70 · 15/07/2014 19:03

But twisted can you not imagine the potential outrage that she could cause?

On mumsnet ......

AIBU to think that the spa managers should not have insisted I feed my child in the car?

Followed by 1000's of 'yanbu'

The second they allowed that child on the premises, they would have lost control because from that point onwards they could not have dictated where or when or how she chose to feed her child

Sizzlesthedog · 15/07/2014 19:04

Twisted.

If only it was as simple as bf in the car. Read up thread. She wanted slightly more than that. Anyway the car park is over 16 only. As it the road that leads to it, the buildings etc.

LoxleyBarrett · 15/07/2014 19:05

But if they had let her feed in the car then they had to let her feed anywhere on the premises, because they would then be discriminating against a breast feeding woman by restricting where she could feed - far safer to stick to the no children rule.

She is the type that would shout discrimination from the roof tops.

LinesThatICouldntChange · 15/07/2014 19:06

Why shouldn't she be punished financially, Stay? After all, that's exactly what she was trying to do to CF, by publicly vilifying them and encouraging others to leave bad reviews.
I'm not saying I think CF will go as far as that, because frankly it seems to have done them a favour, by backfiring nicely on her and drumming up positive feedback for them. But this woman has a history of doing similar things to other businesses, and presumably as that's what she gets off on, will carry on doing the same in the future- unless some business decides to hold her to account

merrymouse · 15/07/2014 19:08

I get the impression that relationships had deteriorated and the booking had been cancelled before the car feeding suggestion.

Esmum07 · 15/07/2014 19:15

And that, standalone, could be why her booking was cancelled. If someone at CF had done a search, based on her being a bit 'I know my rights' and had discovered she had smuggled a child in against the policy of another adult only establishment, they may have (rightly or wrongly) decided they were not prepared to take a chance on her doing that to them and bragging about it. Someone has posted on FB that they have discovered information, presumably from her now famous blog that she has had a go at a number of places. If they can find it, a spa can find it and, of course, if she had allegedly smuggled a baby in elsewhere it may be common knowledge in that trade so it would only take a phone call or two to check names and details. Can't prove anything one way or the other but there is something odd about the 'MD just deciding to cancel' line. On the other hand the MD could just be a nasty jobsworth but she hasn't done herself favours IF it turns out to be a few little tweaks to the complete truth have taken place.

Esmum07 · 15/07/2014 19:18

Opps, sorry, should have been Staywithme I was agreeing with. God knows who standalone is. Probably me if I keep getting names muddled!

Staywithme · 15/07/2014 19:19

twisted

^Stay- i don't know about the law on this but can't believe they wouldn't let her feed in the car- would they really know that that had any possible legal repercussions (if indeed that is true)?
I still think it sounds mean.^

How could they have guaranteed she stayed in the car? What if she decided the car was too hot/cold/cramped and she wanted to stretch get out. Then she might decide it's too cold so decide to go into the building. Are they supposed to rugby tackle her to the ground or demand that she gets back into the car? She already stated that she told them they were breaking the law, which was not true, so she sounds like a lady that would have taken advantage of their kindness. Bty it was a toddler not a baby so already eating and not totally dependant on mum's milk.

If she wanted a spa that was child friendly she should have went to one. If I'm going to ladies day at a golf course, want my husband to play and the club says no as it's ladies day, I don't start screaming that it's not fair because he's disabled and they're breaking disability laws. though to be fair, I don't play golf because I couldn't hit a barn door with a brick!

HaroldLloyd · 15/07/2014 19:22

You wouldn't even need to ask about feeding off site.

Nothing wrong with asking can you take a baby in, though I suspect she only got the offer of a room as she pushed the staff.

Once the MD heard about it and of she was rude to them, which is a guess but seems likely, he's within his rights to cancel.

Someone said up there somewhere that she probably would have kicked off about feeding in the car park anyway.

If she offered to feed off site, and wasn't rude in any way, why on earth would they have cancelled?

I suspect the online storm may have been threatened.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 15/07/2014 19:22

Agree with above and have made one last post on CF page to mop up a residual 'just arrived into the row' twit.
To my fellow CF page posters over the last couple of days.... I salute you Wink

Staywithme · 15/07/2014 19:24

Grin Esmum07

From staywithme to standalone is a really funny mistake.

LittlePeaPod · 15/07/2014 19:26

Cantbelievethishappening I just saw that can't.. I salute you right back Wink Wine

couldn't be bothered to name change

toriap2 · 15/07/2014 19:27

Saluting you too Wine

HaroldLloyd · 15/07/2014 19:28

I can't see a new one!

LittlePeaPod · 15/07/2014 19:32

Harold check "last minute availability thread". Second one down main section.. 4th comment from the bottom..

TheFairyCaravan · 15/07/2014 19:33

She, herself, said she posted on her wall complete with links to CF's Fb and Twitter btw, to encourage opinions and it was up individual's what those opinions are. Yet, here we are again with her, or her family, putting pressure on MNHQ to delete a thread! Maybe she should have thought that not everyone was going to share her opinion, and she should have to take the rough with the smooth!

This is a hard lesson for her to learn, IMO, but maybe she should pull her big girls pants up, accept she was wrong, apologise on CF's Fb wall and then a line could be drawn.

Whatever, I bet the next time she gets her knickers in a twist she won't be so bloody quick to complain publicly or not!

TheFairyCaravan · 15/07/2014 19:34

Oh, and just for the record, she tweeted the OP of the original thread thanking them for their support, before the whole thing went against her!

LittlePeaPod · 15/07/2014 19:35
