So following the news coverage of one of his reps asking a girl to suck cocks to win a free 'Holiday', he has said that it was nothing to do with him and the girl was disgusting and badly brought up. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2687338/Carnage-boss-Magaluf-sex-act-party-blames-teens-upbringing-behaviour.html

Have a look at their Twitter feed: twitter.com/Carnagemagalluf they retweet 'What kind of person gives 24 bj's on holiday for a drink?! disgusting is an understatement @Carnagemagalluf #slag' and are basically totally gleeful about it until showing up to a press conference scared they might lose their licence and blaming the girl for doing exactly what she was told by them.

@mybigfat

Well sucking on boobs is not really the equivalent action of what the young women in question did now is it? If it was a case of a drunk man performing (going down) oral sex on 20+ women and it was filmed and posted online I have no doubt it would have gone global as well.

As others have pointed out this kind of stuff has been going on for years at various resorts, its only now and again that a tabloid grabs hold of an ‘incident’ and runs a ‘broken Britain’ moral crusade name and shame article. I went to Lanzarote on a spectacularly cheap and nasty holiday just after I had graduated (16 years ago), every night the bars were full of drunken nakedness and inhibitions seemed to have been left on the plane as flashing of tits, fanjo's, cocks, arses and rampant shagging on sun lounges on the beach was pretty much the norm. In fairness I did not see someone performing 24 blow jobs like in the video but I certainly saw various sex acts between young couples in view of joe public. Not condoning or dismissing this behaviour but just pointing out that it is far from unusual in some of these resorts.

Yes maybe, but people would be giving the bloke a pat on the back and saying 'Christ what kind of woman lets herself get licked out in a club?'

Mybigfatredwedding · 11/07/2014 10:08

When I said 'sucking a load of boobs or something'I basically meant oral sex but thought people might get that!

aturtlenamedmack · 11/07/2014 10:12

Yanbu - they encourage the behaviour and then make moral judgements about those who take part.
They called a young woman a slag and encourage others to do so.
Nothing about that is OK.

Squidstirfry · 11/07/2014 10:17

I really feel for this poor woman. Yes 18-30's have always been debaucherous, and I have certainly done some regrettable stuff with groups of men, but this was filmed, millions of people have seen her and now it gets in the papers.
That is more humiliation than anyone deserves.

I was never filmed and publically humiliated to this level for what I did on drunken nights out.

The blokes involved are completely unpologetic, uncaring and are blaming her and her parents that is about as lowlife as you can get IMO.

I have less respect for them than I do for her.

dawndonnaagain · 11/07/2014 10:23

Because not all posts on here are like Squids.

YANBU. I think anyone who makes their living from a business based upon actively encouraging young people to get pissed and do outrageous things and who then judges those same young people for...errr...getting pissed and doing outrageous things is a hypocritical cunt.

NigellasDealer · 11/07/2014 10:29

yanbu what a total cunt

CuChullain · 11/07/2014 10:36

"Yes maybe, but people would be giving the bloke a pat on the back and saying 'Christ what kind of woman lets herself get licked out in a club?'"

I agree there is still a double standard here when it comes to how a promiscuous women is treated/judged compared to how a man is treated if he acted in a similar fashion, but I dont think it is as pronounced as it used to be, but it still exists.

Finola1step · 11/07/2014 10:37

I take your point Dawn but I do think that the general tone of this thread is that the girl in the video is by far not the only one at fault in this situation.

I do not get the sense that this thread is about women attacking or berating another woman. If anything, it's about criticising the company involved who are making profit out of these situations.

No one comes out of this situation looking particularly favourable.

RufusTheReindeer · 11/07/2014 10:38

I know I'm old (44) but I just don't get it

There are always masses of articles, tv shows etc showing youngsters doing all sorts of very rude things, sex games that don't really look like games

When I was young I don't remember any of this stuff happening, did it not happen? Was I just not in that crowd? Did we not go on holiday and let our inhibitions down as much? Were we too frightened of what our mums would say if they found out?

I think it's sad, I feel sad and frightened for my children if this is normal

It's not normal is it, just media exaggeration (please someone tell me it is the media and it happened all the time when I was younger and I just didn't notice)

RufusTheReindeer · 11/07/2014 10:39

Oh and back to the point of the thread

That man is a complete twat,

RufusTheReindeer · 11/07/2014 10:41

General consensus seems to be it always happened on holidays

Right, none of my children are going on holiday without me...

AskBasil · 11/07/2014 10:45

Oh and you'll notice that he says her parents didn't bring her up properly, but doesn't mention the parents of the men who took part.

Double standards, hypocrisy and misogyny.

All exactly what you'd expect from a skank like this and from most people in our misogynistic society tbh.

Nomama · 11/07/2014 10:49

It happens a lot, these days.

Anyone who teaches 16 - 19 year olds will tell you - sex is a great game to play a lot of.

I read a piece way back when (probably Mackie in the mid 80s) that it might be one of those risky shift/social comparison theory behaviours - your peer group does sex, so to fit in you show them how far you'll do sex to fit right in/become a leader of the group.

Given the difference between my youth and today's teens and their ways and means of socialising it makes more sense that risky shifting is more extreme these days.

So a knob such as Smith is, therefore, a great social risk shifter/challenger, he runs these events, promotes them as normal, identifies himself and business with such behaviours. He'll take the backlash cos it is such good fun - and earns him a fortune!

Nomama · 11/07/2014 10:50

Sorry, Mackie would have written a piece on risky shift behaviours in the 80s. Obviously he couldn't have applied it to this!!! Though he was a good social scientist he wasn't clairvoyant Smile

CuChullain · 11/07/2014 10:55

@Finola

I largely agree with your last post, however since this 'news' story broke there have been some quite stunning metal acrobats displayed on MN that largely absolve the young women in question of any responsibility and that indeed she a total victim and all those around her are assholes. The first post in this thread states "Firstly I blame these so called men, why did they get thier cocks out" while conveniently ignoring that they are probably just as pissed, just as under peer group pressure and just as caught up in the moment as this women is but they have been described in some quarters guilty of rape and sexual assault. As others have stated on here, nobody comes out of this episode with and dignity and I agree with that statement

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 11/07/2014 11:02

The only difference between this girl and when us lot were younger is that when we made mistakes there were no smart phones and our mistakes didn't get plastered round the world for all to see and judge

x2boys · 11/07/2014 11:05

Agreed chuchullain you have summed it up better than I could !

ChelsyHandy · 11/07/2014 11:07

Why did those involved do it? Its sort of crowd behaviour, isn't it? In human biology its known as social facilitation - if a group of people are already doing something, others are likely to join in, no matter how unusual it seems. Also known as behaving like sheep.

The holiday companies clearly know that pushing the boundaries sells and employ reps who won't stop it.

That said, not everyone has to be a sheep, so why are the British abroad more likely to be sheep and behave like this than other nationalities?

Morethanalittlebitconfused · 11/07/2014 11:08

I think it's been said before (not on here that I've seen) that us Brits are more debauched on holiday because we have such a poor work life balance and live in a constant state of high stress

Aeroflotgirl · 11/07/2014 11:10

I agree morals of gutter snipes. I haven't seen the video, but you have said sge was clearly aware of what she was doing. You do not drink so much you are not aware of yourself, take responsibility!

AdamLambsbreath · 11/07/2014 11:11

Hmm, who's more disgusting?

A drunk young woman, barely an adult, who does something sordid and degrading with a bunch of guys because they've all been encouraged to think that's cool and wild and don't-give-a-fuck,

OR

A full-grown man who makes his living arranging events at which drunk young people, lots of them barely adults, will be egged on to do sordid and degrading things to each other by being told that it's cool and wild and don't-give-a-fuck. A full-grown man who, if challenged about this, will then turn on his adolescent income sources and call them disgusting, ill-brought-up slags.

Now, let me think.

This is just a natural culmination of the club 18-30 culture that started in the late 70s. Holidays = wild, risky sex. That was the message, enthusiastically taken up by naive youngsters.

I feel for the young woman, and I hope that this is a tipping point and this lunatic, dangerous holiday culture will calm down a bit. It's very easy to go much further than you normally would when you're a long way from home and being egged on by booze and event promoters.
