Baby names and breast feeding threads can get really nasty posts. And they are the worst for it. They are usually really snidey back handed comments to. I know I won't go to the bfing threads if I can't manage it with my ds2 as they all seem quite mean and harsh to women that are really probably at breaking point with bfing as it isn't easy.

Ive never 'got' te baby names threads. I just dont see why you would want to ask anonymous strangers who cant see your family and the baby to help pick a name. I picked my names to 'suit' my kids/us.

I think a proportion of the AIBU nastiness is down to nasty cunts and trolls.

I think some of it is down to people misjudging the tone, seeing the swearing and forthrightness and thinking that's how you get accepted into the mythical MN clique, and going overboard.

I think some is because people are too busy trying to be "pithy" or "funny" or "memorable" and forget there are real people behind the words on the screen.
