It's gallus. Stoatin'.

Made me laugh and laugh. Is that no the point?

AWombWithoutARoof · 08/07/2014 08:06

They look a bit better in the second pic in ReallyTired's link. The standing about like a close harmony folk ensemble makes it look worse.

Blimey, that designer has taken crushed velvet to the point of insanity, hasn't she?

CoreyTrevorLahey · 08/07/2014 08:07

Per Una Speziale Grin

chocolatemademefat · 08/07/2014 08:08

Ah'm hidin ma face in ma man's tartan trews! Aw they bright colours - whit'll we dae oan a sunday?
Hmmm - they're crap right enough.

CalamitouslyWrong · 08/07/2014 09:57

Surely the people competing for Scotland get given these abominations of a uniform and don't have to pay for them. So the 'must be cheap and hard wearing' argument really doesn't, erm, wash. They don't have to be hand woven from the finest silk but they really shouldn't be screaming 'bargain-basement fire hazard'.

The blue hoodies and kit bags are absolutely fine.

I really don't agree that they are 'quirky' or 'stylish'. The dresses and shirts look incredibly naff. But not so naff that they could come out the other side as hipster-stylish. No. They're just your granny's housecoat from the 70s teamed with a clashing tartan and a horrible bag.

Figster · 08/07/2014 09:58

I'm just so embarrassed for them Blush

CalamitouslyWrong · 08/07/2014 09:59

I agree that the designer has a great career ahead of her for per una speziale.

CalamitouslyWrong · 08/07/2014 10:00

Also cheap and practical does not have to mean seriously ugly.

fluffyraggies · 08/07/2014 10:04

The tartan is ok i think. It could grow on me.

But that blue fabric for everything else? It looks as if someone just had a cheap job lot of polyester and went mad with it.

ReallyTired · 08/07/2014 10:31

Maybe the English should buy some sun glasses rather than kicking the scots out of the union.

I just hope for the atheletes sake the the uniform are comfortable.

It's so twee . . .and hideous. The designer said that it meant no-one would overlook the Scottish squad during the parades - well, she's right about that but for all the wrong reasons!

BMW6 · 08/07/2014 10:40

I absolutely LOVE it - funniest thing I've seen in a long while and will now watch the opening ceremony just to see the Scottish Team stepping out in these beauties !!

< Praying that Alex Salmond shows solidarity with team by wearing same and proposes as new national dress in the event of winning Independence, snigger>

ssd · 09/07/2014 10:12

am now hoping we win nothing so the poor athletes dont have to wear this uniform too much

ReallyTired · 09/07/2014 10:54

"am now hoping we win nothing so the poor athletes dont have to wear this uniform too much"

I'll support the scots provided they aren't competiting against England.

I agree that Alex Salmond and the SNP needs to show solidarity by wearing the same! lol...

Oh dear, our poor team, that's hideous. Shock Even the tartan isn't that nice!

SaggyAndLucy · 10/07/2014 19:14

Oh my LORD! It's like the Bay City Rollers meets a supermarket uniform suppliers!

awaynboilyurheid · 10/07/2014 20:30

Hideous! what was the designer thinking ! so many lovely tartans to chose from the City of Glasgow one is a beautiful red tartan but no we go for the most clashing colours and some kind of plaid shawl thingy horrendous, no one I have spoke to likes it did no-one think to say no really just no!

HippityHoppityLaLaLa · 10/07/2014 20:38

Brigadoon was the first thing that came into my head. Just plain embarrassing.

OOAOML · 10/07/2014 20:40

At least it appears to have united Scotland for once Wink

footballagain · 10/07/2014 20:45

I've only just see this (how???).

Jesus wept, that is fucking awful. Those dresses look like 1950's house coats.

HippityHoppityLaLaLa · 10/07/2014 21:22

Petition to scrap it It worked for not pulling down the Red Road flats as part of the opening ceremony ...

Numanoid · 11/07/2014 11:24

I was disappointed they scrapped the demolition of the Red Road flats for the opening ceremony, I was planning on watching "IRL" (from a safe distance). It would have went well with the regeneration of the city, which seems to be the theme.

I will take a look at the petition though, the uniforms are an embarrassment.

FrankelandFilly · 11/07/2014 11:33

My favourite comment: "It's a colour which clashes with itself" Grin

At least it's only the parade uniform

ChelsyHandy · 11/07/2014 11:37

Its kind of in the spirit of sticking out for being awful and garish and attention seeking I think?

Or hideous garish clashing colours is a fashion statement?

Ugh and those dresses just hang so badly and shapelessly.

ohfourfoxache · 11/07/2014 11:46

Jesus wept, what the fuck were they thinking? Those poor athletes....
