Bedrooms for DCs?

We have four children, the eldest two turned six in May and are boy/girl twins.

Then we have Ds1, who was two in April, and DD2, who is just a month old. She is obviously in with us.

We have a 3 bed house and I want DD1 to have her own room and DS1 and DS2 to share. DH thinks this is unfair on DS1.

I'm not being unreasonable am I?

YANBU - it's up to you to do what you think best,

but

Without knowing their personalities or anything, I'd keep the twins together for the next year or two until you move house and it's not an issue. I think there's a big difference with the things a 2 yr old needs / wants and a 6 yr old. If you've not moved in 2 years, then your ds2 would be 4 and more of an age when he could understand a little bit more about respecting ds1's things.

I have siblings with same age gap sharing. It's sad how keen ds1 is to get his own room (on holiday for example) he is always having to tidy up his "older" toys, doesn't get a story in bed as toddler is already asleep, doesn't like his crying when he wakes up in the early hours. We work round it and will be for the foreseeable future, but it isn't ideal.

I would keep twins together.

Seems unfair for ds1 to share with such a young sibling when he could be with same age twin.

I think you are favouring dd1 here, and putting her likes and dislikes first.

But then you know your children and how ds1 will feel best.
