Slut-shaming at it's worst.

Walked past it in the newsagents and just felt so sorry for the girl, her face is pretty recognisable in the paper copy. She should be allowed to forget it and move on with her life.

Why are they not investigating the bar owners who allowed this twisted trick to be played on a vulnerable drunken teenager?

glasgowstevenagain · 04/07/2014 14:38

So if it was not a "trick" in your words would it be ok.

If they actually did give her a holiday for what she did!

glasgowstevenagain · 04/07/2014 14:39

Also - are you sure she is a teenager!

Apparently she's 21 actually, not 18..

laverneandshirl · 04/07/2014 14:46

It doesn't matter what age she is or if she felt she willingly went in for it - the point is they are trying to shift copy off the back of shaming the girl and not focusing on the real horror of this - that the bar deliberately humiliated a young person for whatever screwed up reason. It's akin to a public flogging.

I don't care what the girl gets up to if she feels that she did it with her full knowledge and consent but I very much doubt that was the case. But I do care that the Sun has deliberately made her picture available to millions of people - why publish it?

She looks very young in the picture - are you not concerned about her welfare in the slightest?

OP posts:
BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 04/07/2014 14:52

You go on any holiday with say 20's or club 18-30 these games are ten a penny.

Did she really think she was winning a holiday and seriously, does it make a difference - she did it regardless, would there not be such an outrage if she actually got her holiday?

She's obviously no shrinking violet and at the end of the day this is the stuff The Sun loves. I highly doubt it is headline news in the Telegraph. Why publish it? Because it sells papers, no more, no less.

Watch these holiday programmes like sun, sea and suspicious parents or Ibiza uncovered etc etc - games like this are not unusual. Personally, I think it is really irresponsible to encourage people to drink until they behave like total morons but again, it's all money money money.

She isn't blameless though, let's not make her out to be an innocent angel.

laverneandshirl · 04/07/2014 14:59

Wow, you really can't see that the Sun and others have done anything wrong here by pasting her picture up everywhere?

Do you really think drunk (read vulnerable) young people think this is going to be the outcome of their actions in the heat of the moment in a confined nightclub? Does anyone not think this should've been written about from a completely different angle?

Using a young women's life as fodder for silly season. The media just can't get any lower.

It isn't just The Sun, other tabloid newspapers ran the story too, plus yes years ago you would have been able to wake up the next morning and think hell on earth what did I get up to. Unfortunately in this digital age you cannot, someone has already uploaded the video online so I feel she may regret this for a long time to come. I am curious as to why none of her mates tried to stop her, or maybe they did

ApocalypseThen · 04/07/2014 15:02

Does anyone think that comics for hard of reading adults would fail to publish this kind of thing? They're not called the gutter press for nothing.

Vladimar · 04/07/2014 15:06

Yes OP, I just looked and it is outrageous, misogynist filth. I can't believe anyone thinks other. She was probably off her face and since when does a woman have to be an "innocent angel"???

Like OP says, where's the headline shaming the 24 men who took advantage of her?

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 04/07/2014 15:09

A woman does not have to be an innocent angel but let's face it, she gave 24 men a blow job whilst pissed because she wanted a free holiday. I have been totally plastered on more than one ocassion, I would not have done that....ever.

Unfortunately you just cannot get away with behaviour like that in the virtual world we now live in. It's been going on for years, hell back in the 80's when I went to Ibiza it was going on but there were no means to make such a big deal of it, no one had mobiles, or the internet etc etc.

Look, it's todays news, tomorrows chip paper. No one takes The Sun seriously.

magpiegin · 04/07/2014 15:11

I was thinking earlier how glad I am that there were no smart phones in the 90s early 2000s when I was younger!!

I don't think we can blame the blokes though- how do we know they took advantage, from reading one article she was asking them if they want to be whatever number, not the other way round. She made a stupid mistake and no doubt regrets it, but these games happen at these resorts and she chose to participate.

flippinada · 04/07/2014 15:11

Yes, I saw this while out today, it's disgusting.

And so what if she isn't an "innocent angel" . She doesn't deserve to shamed and abused in this way.

Why is the focus all on here and not the men particpating, the onlookers, the people who filmed it, the people who facilitated. They are the ones who should be ashamed.

flippinada · 04/07/2014 15:12

*all on her, not all on here

BertieBotts · 04/07/2014 15:19

I'm struggling to see what the problem is. She had fun on a night out. She didn't win a holiday, that was a cruel trick but I fail to see why she should be lambasted as a "slut". If it was a competition to snog as many people as possible would that be different?

It's a stupid drunken game, but nobody involved was forced into anything? I don't see a problem with it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/07/2014 15:23

If she really was drunk, there is a consent issue as well. I'm not clinking or looking or Gogling that shit to see what I think, though.

Norland · 04/07/2014 15:25

As BettySwollocks says, today's news, tomorrow's chip papers. How many of you remember Clare Swires?

BertieBotts · 04/07/2014 15:25

I don't think she consented to having the video distributed everywhere. But it sounds like there was no force or coercion involved in the actual thing. I'm not sure that I would see a promise of a prize (even misleading) as coercion.

aprilanne · 04/07/2014 15:26

i am sorry but its not the papers fault .a woman of 24 so they say .took part .no matter how drunk she was .its revolting .god has she no bloody morals .think of her poor parents .

rainbowfeet · 04/07/2014 15:27

I do have some sympathy for the girl she was plied with alcohol & duped by a company that surely has a duty of care.

What I also find distasteful is the only reason its so widely reported in the media is so someone names the girl as it's not a story without a back story!!!

Indeed the Daily Mail online described her as 'yet to be named'!!! It's a Witch hunt for a very silly young girl who will have to live with this forever now.

rainbowfeet · 04/07/2014 15:29

God it only took for one of them to have an STI & she could have passed it on to loads of them.

maras2 · 04/07/2014 15:38

Some fecking eejit saw fit to post this entire youtube clip on Mumsnet yesterday.Twat.

BertieBotts · 04/07/2014 15:40

True rainbowfeet. But that was as much their responsibility as hers.

CanaryYellow · 04/07/2014 15:48

They're all just vile.

I've been on a 18-30 type holiday, worst holiday of my life, the particular lowlight being a booze cruise where several rows of girls were lined up, lying down with whipped cream sprayed on their nipples and four guys had a race to see who could suck the most.

I'd be fucking furious if I ever found out my DS was involved in something like that.

There is an ongoing police investigation in Spain over this.

I personally think the bar should be shut down, and the holiday company or reps who organised this should be fired/fined/closed down.

But sadly another bar will pop up in its place, offering shots and double spirits for 2 euro, and another bunch of drunken morons will be doing the same thing again.

As for the Sun, well it's just a pile of shite.

I actually watched the video and it is vile, her and all those disgusting men getting their dicks out.

They said the girl was very drunk and thought she would win an actual holiday if she gave them all a bj but it was just a cocktail. Someone should have stopped the girl from doing this, I feel she may have been taken advantage of in her drunk state.
