DD is 17 months old. I dropped her off at my inlaws today wearing a sundress and sandals as it is 23 degrees here. She returned home wearing a sundress, sandals and frilly knickers so big am sure I could squeeze into them. According to my MIL my omission was equivalent to sending her out in her pyjamas Have I just commuted a major parenting faux pas?

If the nappy is saggy then change it.

Forget the bloody stupid knickers that are just kne extra thing to wash.

Goodness - in this weather I've often bunged DS2 in the car for pickup in nothing but a nappy and t-shirt and no-one's said a thing or looked at me funnily.

If the bum is covered then that's all that's required - you don't see kids wearing nappy then pants then trousers, or pullups and pants, so why on earth are they needed for a dress (or t-shirt... on a baby on a hot day)

Are there seriously people in the world who would rather cover a full nappy with knickers or pants than change it?

It's not covering up a full nappy, it's just making sure it doesn't drop down to their knees before you can change it.

So at what age do they then have to wear modesty shorts over the top to stop them flashing their nappy covering knickers?

Personally I don't find dresses very practical for toddlers anyway so DD1 rarely wears them, but equally I find an uncovered nappy an invitation for a poo explosion. [sits on fence]

My dd bum shuffles and after having several nappies in tatters because of it, i have been on a mission to find frilly knickers in her size and cant!
