To think that Saville was NEVER a "Much loved family favourite"???

MrsWinnibago · 26/06/2014 13:33

Sorry to start a thread about this sick, awful animal but they just said on Radio 4 that he was a much loved family favourite.

I CLEARLY remember watching him on Jim'l Fix It and thinking "Oh he's HORRIBLE!"

I hated him...he was frightening and I could see that some children were very scared of him on that show.

Did ANYONE actually enjoy his "performances" and appearances?? I don't think so.

I think the establishment kept him where he was...on TV and in positions of power because he knew too much about THEIR activities.

And it's funny how it all came out once he was dead and couldn't name anyone else.

I challenge anyone to think back and remember how much they "loved" him at the time before his activities were known.

Oh!
I'd no idea, I'm so out of all loops

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 29/06/2014 20:22

Both parties are dead, so there is no question of libel, just common sense and common decency. We could just as well theorise that Jill Dando was killed on the orders of any nasty piece of work she might have considered exposing. She was of course the presenter of Crimewatch, not the producer or researcher, so I doubt she was doing much detailed investigative work herself.

Hakluyt · 29/06/2014 20:28

Which is why the "I have it on on authority" "I've got a secret" brigade are little.......distasteful, to say the least.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 29/06/2014 20:30

Lots of connections

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 29/06/2014 21:33

I suppose it's too much to ask for the kind of evidence that would stand up in court. What was linked there looked like tin-hat brigade conspiracy theory stuff.

ComposHat · 29/06/2014 21:37

I have it on good knowledge that there was someone at the BBC who discovered his vile secrets and was planning on exposing him.

By good authority that usually means, I read it on the internet/the local conspiracy theorist in the pub told me so it MUST be true.

Scanning the list of Dando links, a high proportion of them come from David Icke and a really fucking unsavoury bunch of white supremacists called stormfront.

ExcuseTypos · 29/06/2014 21:46

So Jill Dando was murdered as cliff Richards had told her about JS and the Establishment didnt want him exposed?

Why didn't they murder the reporter at Newsnight who exposed him a couple of years ago? Confused

ComposHat · 29/06/2014 22:01

Why didn't they murder the reporter at Newsnight who exposed him a couple of years ago?

Because they were taking Shergar for his morning ride?

Ok this thread seems to have moved on somewhat from what I have wanting to say but couldn't remember my password!
Anyhow earlier in the thread people seem to be saying that the 70's was a different time and the media seem to be really pushing this too. No doubt as so many in the media are caught up in this. In the 79's as a child my parents warned me of peados, not just not taking sweets from strange men in parks I clearly recall the same info as given today as what is not appropriate.

If I had sleepovers my dad would stay well out the way and wouldn't interact and I walkways thought he was unsociable but he always said he didn't want any of my friends to feel uncomfortable so would hide in his study!
There was an incident when a whole gang as we where of about 10 playing in the park unsupervised and a strange man exposed himself. The police did take it seriously, nothing hushed up or ignoring children and I remember all the dads on the road almost patrolling around.
Sadly this is clearly not the case for many whose experiences on here were ignored or hushed up. But I know of many in that era that were not ignored.
It just feels now like the press are saying that people didn't know any better. They did and the ones who turned a blind eye allowed it to happen.

RockandRollsuicide · 29/06/2014 22:48

It just feels now like the press are saying that people didn't know any better

Oh no I have not taken that meaning at all. I think it means against the back drop of the times..like casual racism, use of racist words back then, and also the way people spoke about and treated disabled people was different.

If the same sort of stuff is going on now, I think celebs would be more under ground about it.

ComposHat · 29/06/2014 22:52

Has anyone actually looked at the 'loads of links' that come up?

Just read the COlemanexperience blog post which is the first to come up on a google search

It alleges that

-Jill Dando was working on an investigative report into paedophilia by showbiz personalities (ignoring the fact she was employed by the BBC as apresenter not as an investigative journalist)

  • That in the course of this investigation she'd discovered that Tony Blair and Cliff Richard were both paedophiles and were part of the same VIP paedophile ring as Jimmy Saville (and all three were Israeli secret service moles) Blair and Cliff were also lovers.

-Cliff Richard then befriended her to pump her for information. He then passed it on.

  • Nick Ross and her fiancée were also in on the plot, as were Paul Condon, Peter Mandelson and Bob Geldof and members of the royal family ( also all paedophiles) and Esther Ranzen who covered up for them.

-On the day of the murder, Nick Ross described of the owner of Crimestoppers arranged for the phone lines to be cut. (He isn't the 'owner' of crimestoppers but is a trustee)

  • Blair also arranged for the deaths of Robin Cook, David Kelly and Diana to preserve his paedophile network.
  • It also suggests he was the 'real' Yorkshire Ripper murders and was involved in the Moors murders

Batshit crazy stuff with a strong anti Semitic and homophobic undercurrent.

Darkesteyes · 29/06/2014 23:10

Ridiculous. Confused

Darkesteyes · 29/06/2014 23:13

What I found to be a bit premonition like was when I came across this....

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Year_of_the_Sex_Olympics

Darkesteyes · 29/06/2014 23:16

From the link.

The Year of the Sex Olympics is a 1968 television play made by the BBC and first broadcast on BBC2 as part of Theatre 625. It stars Leonard Rossiter, Tony Vogel, Suzanne Neve and Brian Cox. It was directed by Michael Elliott. The writer was Nigel Kneale, best known as the creator of Quatermass.

Influenced by concerns about overpopulation, the counterculture of the 1960s and the societal effects of television, the play depicts a world of the future where a small elite control the media, keeping the lower classes docile by serving them an endless diet of lowest common denominator programmes and pornography. The play concentrates on an idea the programme controllers have for a new programme which will follow the trials and tribulations of a group of people left to fend for themselves on a remote island. In this respect, the play is often cited as having anticipated the craze for reality television.

When you think how many shit reality shows we have today this sounds a bit like a tv version of a prophecy.

And I think tv was actually better years ago if you take Savile and some of the other kids tv out of the equation.

Suzannewithaplan · 29/06/2014 23:21

blimey!
thanks for bringing that to our attention Darkesteyes

(but why was tomorrows world so wrong about everything ConfusedWink )

Darkesteyes · 29/06/2014 23:35

Spooky isn't it?

Darkesteyes · 29/06/2014 23:59

I wish Jeremy fucking Hunt wouldn't say how victims didn't speak up because they were terrified Yes that is true in SOME cases and is NOT their fault but some DID speak out and wernt believed or told they were stupid or in some cases PUNISHED for speaking up (I remember one woman telling how she was locked in solitary confinement for 3 days) so it would probably help if Hunt didn't try to rewrite history. I really hope subtle victim blaming isn't going to creep into this.

Suzannewithaplan · 30/06/2014 00:02

I guess there are still people alive in whose interests it is for this all to calm down and go away?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 30/06/2014 08:31

Today's bit of useless trivia: Nigel Kneale's widow is Judith Kerr, the writer and illustrator (When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, The Tiger Who Came To Tea, Mog the forgetful cat books).

Scarletohello · 30/06/2014 09:01

Just read this reprinted interview with Saville, originally published in 1990 in the Independent. Makes interesting reading in the light of what we now know...

' When she died she was all mine. The best five days of my life were spent with the Duchess when she was dead. She looked marvellous. She belonged to me. It’s wonderful, is death.”
(Incidentally, he has an enthusiasm for dead bodies in general, which can be quite unnerving. The first time I ever met him, eight years ago, he raved on about all the bodies that came his way in the mortuary at Leeds Infirmary and how he wished he could take the healthy eyes from one and the good bones from another to repair his living patients at Stoke Mandeville. He sounded like Dr Frankenstein.)'

Incidentally, the Nigel Kneale play mentioned above wasn't the first to forecast a future where the government kept the masses quiet with rubbish pandering to their basest instincts. Orwell predicted that in 1984 and going back a couple of thousand years you could say that was official policy in the Roman Empire (gladiator contests).
