I think 7.

DD1 thinks she could easily do 12-15.

DD2 doesn't like them.

Would it be frightfully unreasonable to test this hypothesis?

We have timbits here. So, roughly 4000. Grin

Jux · 26/06/2014 18:14

I have just developed an all-consuming burning desire to live in Canada....

Elsiequadrille · 26/06/2014 18:22

Two or three of those caramel (or is it toffee) krispy kreme rings or four or five of the sugar rings. I'm not keen on filled variety

TheRealAmandaClarke · 26/06/2014 18:26

In one sitting?
Two. I think.

BumpAndGrind · 26/06/2014 18:54

I can rest more of the ones coated in sugar flour than actual sugar.

cardibach · 26/06/2014 18:57

I don't really like Jam doughnuts as the jam is always a bit chemically. I love custard or chocolate ones, though, and would not like to estimate how many I could eat! They are very light and airy, aren't they? Grin

wafflyversatile · 26/06/2014 19:00

I reckon I could eat 8 or so ring doughnuts.

I'd not bother eating very many of any other sort (Well unless they were just sitting there and I was bored)

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 26/06/2014 19:13

I have eaten could eat 4 jam doughnuts in one go, especially with a mug of tea to wash them down.

Mandy2003 · 26/06/2014 20:13

Maybe 0.5! And yet I'm 3st overweight Sad

steff13 · 26/06/2014 20:20

A glazed doughnut or cruller, I can eat three before I feel sick. Cream or custard filled doughnuts, I can eat two. Jelly filled I can't eat at all, blech.

I toured a Krispy Kreme bakery once, and if we're talking glazed doughnuts warm off the line, I could probably eat at least a dozen.

A local doughnut shop makes deep-fried cheese danish. They're kind of amazing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/06/2014 20:37

I did once eat seven cream cakes in a row when I was a student and they were free.

Now, two donuts would be my limit. How times change :(

MoonlightandRoses · 26/06/2014 21:21

No problem with 6 jam filled, fresh, doughnuts in a sitting - most I'd have eaten in a day is 12 though. Fortunately, that particular bakery closed down!

However, DH then discovered snippets - basically, all of the off-cuts from making croissants get twisted and shallow fried, then dipped in a bowl of decent jam followed by a bowl of cinnamon sugar. They also work quite well dipped into hot chocolate. Grin Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/06/2014 02:18

Jux Timbits are accurately described as 'fat pills' here. But oh so good.

SinglePringle · 27/06/2014 10:00

I remain shocked by the donut consuming abilities of you all!

Seriously, I don't think I've had a donut in about 20 years!

WorraLiberty · 27/06/2014 10:10

I don't really know how to word this without it sounding like I'm hoiking my judgy pants.

But I'm genuinely interested to know if those of you who eat tons of donuts in one sitting, do so in front of your kids or do you do it in secret?

If it's the former, are you not worried about the example being set?

As I said, it's a genuine question before anyone starts flinging donuts buns at me Grin

Elsiequadrille · 27/06/2014 10:17

I've never eaten as may as 3-5 donuts in one sitting! In front of the children or otherwise. But I personally took the question to be how many 'could' you eat. So I took a guess.

mrswishywashy · 27/06/2014 10:22

Krispy kremes right from the conveyor belt in North Carolina are amazing. They melt on your tongue don't even need to chew, I could probably do four in a sitting.

I love the wee fresh ones that are sold from vans at fairs could do about five I reckon.

Only one of any others types. I love a good donut.

WorraLiberty · 27/06/2014 10:30

That is the question Elsie but if you read some of the replies, people have said they've actually eaten 9, 8, 5 etc...

lettertoherms · 27/06/2014 10:38

Well, I said I could. And I know I could because I've had/have food ishoos and once upon a time could certainly have binged to that extent. Maybe I'd find I couldn't now, because my body has changed, but I think I could, because it's really a mental thing for me.

But I wouldn't eat that in front of a child, I'm usually the annoying person who cuts one donut in half.

crazykittensmile · 27/06/2014 11:00

I think I could probably comfortably eat three say at a picnic or a party but if it was a competition to eat as many as possible and I had a relatively empty stomach I think maybe your daughter's estimate of 12-15 seems about right, although obviously I would probably feel very uncomfortable/sick by the end and wouldn't be enjoying them. I haven't tested it though!

Jux · 27/06/2014 12:11

Worra, when I used to eat 8 in a sitting, it was once a week while I was pg - no children were harmed Wink. The rest of the pg I ate mostly cottage cheese, cherry tomatoes and bagels. It was a long time ago, when supermarkets started selling bags of 10 'mini' jam doughnuts for 99p. They don't do it any more. I was dx with ms a few years later, and realised that actually I had a sugar craving because it was the quickest way to inject some energy into me. I would run out of energy completely and my system took a very long time to replenish it. Many of my internal systems were shutting down, becoming inefficient, slowing, or simply not working. Bits of my brain were being closed off, and lots of nerves were simply not carrying messages around.

Even now, 15 years on, I do have to carry a few sachets of sugar around with me because I will still suddenly and without notice get overcome by exhaustion and be incapable of moving. At that point it is really really really important to get some sugar into me so I can get off the ground and eat something more sensible. But sugar first every time. I am not diabetic btw.

17leftfeet · 27/06/2014 13:16

Krispy Kreme I can't eat a whole one they are so greasy and heavy

Proper gregs jam doughnut?

How many have you got? Grin

MoonlightandRoses · 27/06/2014 20:17

Well, am mostly reformed now but no, definitely wouldn't do excessive eating, of anything, in front of small child.

Mind you, they do seem to have the kind of self-control around sweet things that I completely lack - the giant bag of buttons given as a present two weeks ago (so free rein for small child as its theirs) is being doled out one button a day!

GoldenGytha · 27/06/2014 20:50

Never had a Krispy Kreme doughnut as we don't have one here.

I could eat about 5 ring doughnuts, and 2 jam ones, any other filling is vile, only jam will do.

Florabeebaby · 27/06/2014 21:13

I ate 5 jam ones when I was revising for Uni exams...I revised well into the night with the most horrendous heartburn!! The sugar helped as well I reckon.
Nowadays I don't eat them but could possibly manage the same!
