I feel quite bad.

This person is an acquaintance, She was a single parent for a few months, then she met someone who pretty much moved in, he was paying her bills for her and moved in properly earlier this year.

She has always worked full time with a salary of around 20k.

She seems to have an awful lot of money, and, as a single parent myself, I couldnt quite work it out. However, I have seen her tax credits renewal form as she didnt understand something and asked me to have a look for her, and shes claiming to be a lone parent, working 16.3 hours a week, earning 12k a year less than she actually is.

She is also claiming housing benefit as a single parent.

So, I have completed the DWP form and sent it off. I couldnt help it, it makes me see red.

But I now feel terrible.

A vague attempt at looking for a job? Total and utter bollocks!

I have friends who have been sanctioned because they haven't shown enough evidence of job seeking, even though they have made a full time job of looking for one. I've had friends sanctioned because they can't won't take a zero hours contract that requires them to be available to go to work at a few hours' notice when they can't get childcare on a whim.

MrsDJ, you know absolutely nothing.

Mrs DJ you know how shitty a time you had being on benefits.

So why do you think everyone is so desperate to stay on JSA.

Maybe we should all just fraud it up and buy some flats.

Smilesandpiles · 24/06/2014 18:12

OK, on lappy now.

How about for the last 32 posts we just tell jokes instead? Or I can go back on my phone and try to post...

Corey when did I say any of that??? I have said all along that I'm sure there are people who can work their way out legitimately but I also know from personal experience and from people I know that had they been completely honest they would have stayed on benefits far longer and claiming far more. I have said if it's a choice between fiddling and getting off earlier, or being honest and being stuck longer then I don't blame anyone for fiddling. I didn't say my uncle had no choice but to fiddle to get off. In his case no, he could have just got any labouring job and would probably still be in a council flat but would at least be working but he doesn't have to worry about kids, buying a house, travel, phone, broadband, etc, he is limited by his difficulties but he could have done far more than he has. But there are those who have absolutely no intention to ever get off benefits or out of council housing and I don't think that's right, but the system is fucked and I can see how someone could slip into that attitude. I could have. Which is why the sooner someone can get out of it honestly or otherwise, the better. And if the only way is working cash in hand and claiming then I'm not going to judge, criticise or shop them. No one has any idea the struggles others are facing and without solid proof and knowing for certain that they are just sponging and taking the piss for gadgets and holidays then people shouldn't be so quick to shop. Especially not for the sole reason of "well I'm in the same position and I don't do that! It's not fair waaaaaa!" Hmm
