I know it's been done to death but........ How much alcohol do you REALLY drink? And how much to you say you do in RL?

Just asking as I sit with my 2 nd glass of wine and plans for more. Since DS was around 9 m, I've found old drinking habits increasing.

I generally only drink on Fridays and Saturdays, and probably go over the recommended weekly average for women. Sometimes way over if I have a big event or night out.

I'm honest in real life as I don't see a problem with my drinking habits.

To be honest thought, the people who generally post on these threads are the teetotal or the people who have half a sherry every other New Year's Eve.

It really varies...I'd find it hard to say how much I drink per week, for example, because there can be weeks on end when I don't drink at all and then other weeks when dp and I will get through a few bottles of wine quite easily.

I don't go out much anymore, and often drive when I do, so my 'going out' alcohol consumption is definitely way, way less than it used to be.

I like a drink, always have, so I don't think I'm dishonest about it. My XH and two of my best friends are alcoholics though, which I think has probably changed my attitude a bit over the past few years.

chronically I don't mean to derail my own thread but DH is erm... Chronically challenged in the stomach department and drink far to much. Does it affect CD?

I drink approximately 4 nights per week. Probably a little over the recommended 14 units.

I buy a bottle of wine on a Friday or Saturday and it lasts as long as it lasts - usually just the weekend. I don't go out every weekend but if I do, that will usually involve one or two more glasses.

We used to bulk-buy wine by the case and I found I was drinking too much so stopped buying it so often!

Ooh. Maybe 3 or 4 bottles of wine per week. Would admit to that too. It varies according to stress at work tbh. It's a quick way of taking the edge off the day. I have regular health checks and am pretty fit. It doesn't worry me.

I used to drink 3 / 4 bottles a week though would always have said 15 units if asked.

I've cut right down now to 1 / 2 bottles a week.

Once every 6 months, I might have a 2nd of wine, like if we're having a family do.

Yes, I am a bit worried about my intake but its so normalised in my family. I drink every night and am a relatively low level drinker in my family.

As for unwinding... Yes, sometimes a nice glass of Pinot noir hits the spot perfectly! Otherwise....crochet, telly, bath, foot rub from dp, sex, early night with a good book...I'm rock'n'roll these days

I am having a large, icy cold sauvignon blanc - my first of 2 or 3.

I last drank on Sunday.

I absolutely look forward to having a drink at the end of the week and always have a drink on Fri, Sat & Sun. None during the week.

I definitely associate wine with unwinding.

I drink what I consider a little bit. Will sometimes have a glass or two of wine at the weekend, but not every weekend. Sometimes, say once every three to six months, I will have a phase where I will have a beer or two most nights for a week or two. On lovely summer weekend days I will sometimes have between one and three glasses of g&t. If we go out to eat, which we do maybe every two or three months, I will have a couple beers with a curry or a couple glasses of wine with other meals.

On forms and questionnaires I usually check the 0 - 3 units per week if there is one as I figure it probably works out about that on average.

Very very rarely. DH doesn't drink and i only really drink with my friends once in a blue moon.

I used to drink far too much if I'm honest. I'd got to the point of a bottle of wine most nights. Then I had an accident on New Year's Eve and nearly died, because I was drunk and I fell and banged my head. Since then, I've been teetotal. I had half a glass of wine at a party three weeks ago and didn't even enjoy it.

Maybe twice a month in the summer when socializing with friends. Never in the winter.

That's true both in regards to what I really drink and what I'd say if asked.

I have a bottle of wine over the weekend about once a fortnight roughly. And each week I have four or five of those tiny little 2% lager stubbies.

Before I had ds I'd have a bottle of wine every weekend spread over sat and sun evenings.

I don't think it's excessive.
