losingmybelt · 15/06/2014 22:31

Children singing Away in A Manger.

Tentedjuno · 15/06/2014 22:31

That song 'Where are you going my little one?
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Etc. ........
Turn around and you're tiny , turn around and you're grown,
Turn around you're a young man* with babes of your own. '

Snivelling away like mad here.

Having a therapeutic cry... Here are mine:

The scene in Dogger which begins 'then Bella did something very kind...'

Radiohead's Karma Police, The Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody, the hymns Abide With Me, O Little Town of Bethlehem

That SMA advert ^^

My dd telling me she loves me/asking for a hug

YY to OBEM, and any programming showing children suffering

ASmidgeofMidge · 15/06/2014 22:34

Also the line:

I am not strong. I'm just numb. When you tell me I am strong, I feel
that you don't see me.

Only1scoop · 15/06/2014 22:35

I'm just crying in general now at this very thread ....thanks Op Confused

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 15/06/2014 22:35

Sophie's Choice - I started watching it idly on night - no idea about the subject matter and got the awful bit.

I switched it off straight away. Have no idea how it ended. Won't even look on Wikipedia. Ghastly.

slithytove · 15/06/2014 22:36

Thanks thebody

The line in away in a manager "but little lord Jesus no crying he makes".

:(

I really need to go and just bawl my eyes out now
Wish DH would go to sleep!

daisychain01 · 15/06/2014 22:37

The words of "If" by Rudyard Kipling are so inspirational, especially when read to a young person, to teach them to keep going, be noble and brave, whatever challenges they may face in future.... Ive highlighted the sobby, tragic bit!

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Brummiegirl15 · 15/06/2014 22:38

Ooh good lord, I'm a crier too

First 10 minutes of Up
Last 10 minutes of Toy Story 3
Last 10 minutes of Armageddon, where Bruce Willis decides to stay in space and tells Live Tyler (his daughter) he loves her so much. I have to actually leave the room it makes me sob so much

When the Dads cry on OBEM - that starts me off too.

When I went to Seaworld we were sitting in audience and announcer asked all members of US and British Armed Forces to raise their hands, we were then asked to stand and give them a round of applause in their honour. Floods of tears for that one.

Occasionally I look at DP and can't believe after being single for so long and in some really shit relationships that such a wonderful man wants to be with me and loves me more than anything. That makes me choke up and I well up.

But I also cry at Greys Anatomy too

losingmybelt · 15/06/2014 22:38

Read:

The Fault in Our Stars.

I guarantee you will cry!
I think there's a newly released film out about it as well.

TessTackle · 15/06/2014 22:38

Kate Nash- Nicest Thing.

Such a simple yet heartfelt and honestly written sing. Reminds me of having my heart broken for the first time.

pigluscious · 15/06/2014 22:38

slithy he's still crying and muttering something about how the elephant wasn't mad, just sad because they took dumbo away. The emotions tap clearly doesn't only get turned on for mothers!

CastilianHhhhidalgo · 15/06/2014 22:38

Anything sad involving animals, dogs especially, always gets me.

Me and DH once made the mistake of watching The Plague Dogs. I've no idea at all what possessed us to watch it (or why we didn't turn it off after a few minutes) but it destroyed us both.

The Futurama episode 'Jurassic Bark' is banned in this house. We watched it once, never again.

Anything like

tattyteddy · 15/06/2014 22:40

Mine....

The educating Yorkshire with Mushraff, totally inspired.

The first bit of Up, watched it after I had a MC, sobbed for ages!

The film city of angels, where the angel asks if he would still have become human if he knew it was going to be for such a short time.

The pampers advert, when the kiss traveled to babies across the world.

Acts of kindness, especially when done by strangers.

PhaedraIsMyName · 15/06/2014 22:41

Definitely not children singing.

Up.

Several points in The Grapes of Wrath (book and film)

Atonement-the point you're told it's made up and the 2 lovers didn't survive.

The end of the last Blackadder.

Anne-Marie MacDonald's Fall on Your Knees.

Shadowlands.

Jessie's "When she loved me song" in Toy Story.

The end of The Year My Voice Broke.

Several points in The Story of San Michele

Remembrance Sunday and the point in the Albert Hall on the day before when poppies are falling.

Awks · 15/06/2014 22:41

That Military Wives Choir video when their partners come home.

When funeran cortages pass down the bottom of my road and people stand still to let them pass.

My daughter telling me yesterday that someone she knows is mistreating their springer spaniel.

PhaedraIsMyName · 15/06/2014 22:41

The Doctor Who Vincent van Gogh episode.

snakeandpygmy · 15/06/2014 22:42

thebody do you know this?

Resurrection

Is it true that after this life of ours we shall one day be awakened
by a terrifying clamour of trumpets?
Forgive me God, but I console myself
that the beginning and resurrection of all of us dead
will simply be announced by the crowing of the cock.

After that we'll remain lying down a while...
The first to get up
will be Mother...We'll hear her
quietly laying the fire,
quietly putting the kettle on the stove
and cosily taking the teapot out of the cupboard.
We'll be home once more.

Vladimir Holan (1905 - 1980)

PhaedraIsMyName · 15/06/2014 22:42

Oh and most of the last 20 minutes of Immortal Beloved.

PhaedraIsMyName · 15/06/2014 22:43

Awks can you do anything about the spaniel?

TSSDNCOP · 15/06/2014 22:44

When they astronauts announce re-entry after 4 minutes in black out in Apollo 13.

When Donna tells Mrs Morello she is in the Oval Office because of her.
